Regarding platforms, Airbnb is superior over VRBO. in this specific situation, we did not have a stellar experience with this guest, and now we see they provided us 4stars, but we have no information from them (partly due to VRBO's platform and partly because the guest didn't communicate) to understand why they chose that rating. This guest reserved the house for 2 people, then showed up with 2 kids. They ended up using all 11 beds (for only 4 people) which cost me hundreds in water and housekeeping to clean all of those linens), they left the house very dirty, they didn't read messages or communicate, they didn't make their 2nd lease payment and VRBO had to get involved... This was a less-than-stellar reservation. We are used to AIRBNB, where we maintain a 5 star rating and rave reviews with nearly every guest. I have to believe it's the platform that is the biggest issue, but this guest did not make things easy for us either.

Why they chose this property

We love the extreme quiet and peaceful area the home is in. From our front porch you have landscape views of the ocean on a clear day...looking at South Point and out to the ocean beyond.
The neighborhood is on agricultural land, and is removed from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Situated at 3600' elevation (in the clouds), in the largest subdivision in the world on the slopes of the largest Volcano (Mauna Loa) in the world!

There are no sidewalks or streetlights, and given the elevation it is not recommended to stray too far from the home on foot.
