We wanted to give a big “thank you” to your review as well as all the other renters that have taken the time to write one! We are so happy that everyone seems to enjoy their stay at our beloved lakehouse. We strive to create a little “paradise” for all of your vacations! We love it when many of you return over the years!
The home was spacious, clean, and accurately described on VRBO. Beautiful lake and surrounding area. Fishing is tough this time of year, but we still managed a few nice Northerns, Bass and Walleye. Would definitely consider going back again.
Very happy with our rental. The owner is very organized and is very responsive to questions or needs. They have a great system for checking in and out and they cabin was clean upon arrival. We rented their very nice Pontoon boat as well and had a great time on the lake.

Thank you Josh. We appreciate great renters like you. You are welcome back any time.
This home is just darling. Clean, clean , clean , and a great location. You on right on pickerel lake. Walk down the dock to a pontoon boat that you can rent if you so choose. St Germain is 5 minutes away. Linda , the owner , is lovely and we would rent this home again.
We loved everything about this lake house! The house faces west so we were treated to beautiful sunsets over the lake. The home was clean & provided plenty of room for 6 adults. The attention to detail in the home itself was impressive; the North Woods decorations were homey & welcoming. The owners were east to contact & very responsive when we had questions. All in all we had a great trip in a wonderful property. We would not hesitate to rent again the next time we're in St Germain!
overall a very good place to stay. You will want to rent the pontoon boat for sure as that opens up the lake world. Lots of "don't do" notes which once you get past that it's ok. We were questioned on the number of garbage bags we had. I found that interesting....not terrible....just head scratching.....as we didn't do anything unusual in our minds. I would go again.

Great House/Great Weather:
Had an awesome time up north this year thanks in part to this wonderful house on Pickerel Lake. Owners were great to deal with. Always got back to us immediately. Only issue was the indoor temperature couldn't be changed. The thermostat was frozen at 73 degrees, a little warmer than we're are used to.
Other than that it was a beautiful house a hope to stay there again in the future.

Thank you for your review.. happy you had a great time! I wish you would have contacted me on the thermostat...I know the directions as to how to set it on the Honeywell is maybe a little complicated. I have spoken to the renters that arrived right after you to double check, and they said it was working fine for them.. no problems setting it higher or lower. We like it perfect for our renters’ trips to the “Northwoods”! Thanks again! Linda Petry..
We had three generations staying together in the cabin. Days were spent cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and sledding at Minocqua Winter Park. We ate together and played games during the evening. The layout of the cabin keeps everyone close at hand -- whether eating, cooking, watching TV, or playing a game. The Wi-Fi and electronics worked perfectly. Alas, the gas fireplace had its issues. The beds are comfortable and the master bedroom and loft have additional space for pack-n-plays. The cabin feels very secluded even though access is easy, as long as you can make it up the driveway! The 30 minute drive to Winter Park was not a problem, and it was convenient to have grocery stores along the route. I really appreciated being able to use the workbench in the garage. All in all, a really great place to stay.
All is good at the Petry Lake House! Aside from a few up north cabin spider webs, the house was clean and the bedrooms were nice. The open loft bedroom worked great despite it being open to the cabin living area below. The lake could be better...it is definitely not a swimming lake, but our family enjoyed hunting the larger pan fish. It looked like there were several boats hunting larger fish in the deeper water, but we did not try that. The location is great...just 5 minutes from St. Germain and 10 minutes from Blink Bonnie's Supper Club - the best steak of the north, I think.
Get there by 4, or your wait will be an hour or two. Chuck the bartender will take good care of you while you wait.
Check out the numerous Disc Golf Courses in the area. Woodruff has a nice 18 hole course in the trees...quite challenging.
Its a good spot and affordable.
This was our second year staying at this beautiful lake house. It was clean and spacious for the 6 of us. The owner was wonderful with communication. Can’t wait to go back. Thanks!
The Petry lake house is amazing. We stayed there with a total of 7 people including 2 toddlers. The house had plenty of room when we were all there. Everything was clean and in working order. The location was excellent, both on the lake and from town. The house looks over the lake to the West, so you can get some really amazing sunsets. The pontoon available for rent was great for the whole family for lake cruises or pulling up to the sandbar and hanging out.
After a long day on the lake, I recommend taking a nap on the screen porch out back! Communication between us and the owner was quick and efficient when needed.
Great lake house with a beautiful view! Great quiet location, but close to town. House was clean with comfortable beds and furniture. Loved being able to use the attached garage. Easy communication with owner.
Absolutely perfect rental CLOSE to everything. Love this property!
Linda made it super easy to rent and understand why all the little rules. Place is stunning and immediately makes you feel right at home. We would definitely return!

It is so nice for this owner to share their lovely property. Clean and well stocked. All the directive notes left us feeling a little anxious, but I can understand that they might have had issues with previous patrons. Great communication. Beds are pretty firm. We would recommend.
The Cabin was Beautiful. We truly enjoyed the Pontoon the ride was always smooth. The fall colors were at peak. We saw 2 Eagles, & loons on the lake.
We had a small hiccup when we arrived but Linda took care of it. Linda was easy to contact.
For some people this Cabin would be perfect. The privacy was a little awkward. We went with another couple they slept in separate bedrooms on main floor & We took the loft.
On the main floor 1 bedroom was an en-suite 2nd bedroom wasn't, so that person used the bathroom in the Hall. FYI the hallway can be seen from the living space. We didn't want to see my friend running around in his night clothes. That could be fixed with a foldable screens.
The kitchen was well stocked. Kitchen was small & we did our best to work around that. Only 1 person could be in there at a time or you would bump into one another. If the fridge was open that blocked the entrance from one side. If you were at the stove that blocked the entrance from that side. If you were empting the dishwasher you couldn't use some cabinets. None of this should stop anyone from staying at the Cabin.
There is a TV in the Living room and the Master Bedroom on the main floor. There are no clocks near the bed so if you are like me & wake up in the night to check the time you might want to plan for that. One night I thought it was 6am & I started getting ready for the day when my husband said
Do you know its 4am? OOPS!
The neighbor guy, or grounds person next door, loved his leaf blower as he used it everyday for hours. You could even hear him out on the lake. The weather was cool & having the windows open was great but we had to shut them while he did his leaf blowing everyday. It would have been nice if the heat could be shut down as We were always worried the furnace would come on while we had the windows open.
There's only a Keurig coffee machine but we did found big coffee pot in closet That worked out great
None of this should stop you from renting the Cabin as it was wonderful, Some people just want all the info possible when booking their vacation home. Everything worked out for us. At night it is so quiet it was hard to sleep. We slept in the loft & our friend had the room below us he could hear us walking, running water & once we settled down he fell asleep, then we could hear him snore
A TV might solve that issue. It's a sweet little place. Again please just use this information to help make your stay as great as possible.

Wow! What a gorgeous lake house! We had a relaxing weekend with friends. It was peaceful and clean! Linda was great at communicating. Will definitely book again.
We were impressed by the view as soon as we walked through the door! Beautiful place for our family to spend time together. Great places nearby to eat, shop and play. We're all talking about when we can return.
We have enjoyed Wisconsin 'getaways' for years while raising our family of 3 children who now are all adults. It's just great to take our 'mini-vacations' whenever we can and go to our lakehouse for a stress-free experience. We love fishing, having the ever-growing family come up and enjoy our freshly caught fish dinners. Of course, we could not skip eating out at Blink Bonnie's, stopping at Cathy's ice cream shop or having divine Italian dining at Spang's--all within just minutes from our private 'resort'. We love watching the Eagles, hummingbirds, woodpeckers, bluebirds, deer just to name a few of the wildlife creatures we have witnessed up here. We have actually spotted bear on 2 occasions over the years, but that is very rare. We also like the convenience of shopping the unique stores in Minocqua and Eagle River. And of course, the Indian casino is only 30-35 minutes away. Golfing is under 10 minutes from our lake home, including an awesome mini-golf for the children. Go-karting, horseback riding, tubing on the waters is only a few miles on 70 toward Eagle River. It's gorgeous in the fall with a wide array of beautiful colored trees and nice weather with craft shows and festivals. Winter is a new beginning for the snowmobilers and skiiers since we are in the middle of snowmobile country--Eagle River being the capital of snowmobiling. Hop on our lake to get on a trail or just down to 'J'. Trails are plentiful! But come back to Petry lake house and with a push of a button, you will have a cozy gas log enclosed fireplace heating our great room in a matter of minutes. All we can say is 'enjoy, enjoy, and enjoy'. Our promise is that you probably will not want to go back home when the time comes for your departure! It can be a' fantasy land- 'that is for certain for adults as well as children.
Why they chose this property
It's far enough to call it the 'Northwoods'. We feel like we are 'getting away' with something by driving the 4 hours to come up here. We leave all of our stress back at home--it's kind of a 'cleansing' thing. lol You will know what we are talking about once you experience it. If you are like us, you will not want to go home on that final day! We love the fishing here, or just the soothing quiet with the sound of loon as we are drifting on the lake or sitting in our screened in porch, the shops, the eating, the peaceful, relaxing life, the many activities that we can do if we feel like it and on occasion the Indian casino! And it's just beautiful when the snows come. Snowmobiling is also quite a fun experience--we are only minutes from the snowmobile capital of the world---Eagle River! But when we arrive home, with a push of a button, our enclosed gas log fireplace pops on and heats the family room/great room in a matter of minutes. That's a good time to enjoy the satellite tv or our family collection of dvd movies we offer while cozying up on our leather pit group as well as the big leather recliner. Petry lake house is secluded but yet not far from conveniences of life. That's what we like--the best of both worlds.
What makes this property unique
One very important thing we neglected to mention is that on occasion we love bringing some of our good friends up so they can experience it as well. We enjoy 'sharing' our Northwoods'' home away from home' so that others may find the joy we do in getting away from it all. It's a great 'stress reliever' we have found. It has also been wonderful in doing alot of family 'bonding' with our family--children/grandchildren. Experiences we would not trade for the world. We hope you decide to experience it yourselves with Petry lake house!
