Escape to Paradise, no cars, no crowds. Located in the Castaway Key subdivision on the island, this charming cottage has everything you need to relax and escape to paradise. Completely renovated with beautiful furnishing and a tropical pool and dining area. This home has a private beach access at the end of Schooner Drive. Each suite has its own private bath with a king bed in one a queen in the other. The spacious kitchen with granite counter tops and all the accessories needed for planning your island meals. Home is complete with golf cart, kayaks, beach chairs, umbrella and private pool. Escape to Paradise!

We absolutely loved staying at Shell Cottage. The house is very equipped. Pat has provided a true home away from home. It is clean, beautifully decorated. The pool and landscaping is very inviting. I should have asked more questions to prevent us bringing more than we needed. I would definitely stay again. The Island is wonderful and we were there at a slow time. I reccomend shelling at the nature preserve. What a wonderful vacation.

Great private pool. Great sun/ shade mix! Pat is an exceptional host and was very helpful. The location is about two blocks to access in the gulf. The house is very “beachy” and comfortable! If you need a “sun” break, there are several fans and excellent a/c (if need be).If you enjoy cooking, the kitchen is fully equipped . There is all kinds of seating areas. We totally recommend this home.

Our family had a wonderful time at Shell Cottage. The home was clean upon arrival and well stocked with all the amenities for us to use. The pool was great and well heated. There are plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas to use and the house had many toys, games and puzzles that our boys had fun playing with. The house is very close to the private access beach. It was so nice having that part of the beach basically to ourselves most days. Plus, the shelling was great right there. We had a wonderful time in North Captiva.

Perfect Vacation Home

Relaxing Getaway

We had a comfortable stay with family & enjoyed a getaway from busy lives to let down & relax. We enjoyed the island escape with the lovely outdoor pool area too! Our host and as very responsive any time we reached out for help. We would love to come back again!

We just got done with our trip to N Captiva and everything was great. I really enjoyed Pat’s beach house. It had everything we needed and more, and I felt that the house had a really great outdoor space compared to many other beach houses I’ve stayed in. The pool felt amazing and looked so tropical and inviting, like a personal oasis after a hot day at the beach. I really liked that there was a room downstairs and an area to keep our fishing and beach gear, so we never had to bring anything sandy upstairs. I thought the decor and layout was really inviting, like someone’s home that they care about vs a rental company. It had some neat artistic touches with the painted coconut fish and other things that you won’t see at other beach houses. I liked how the house had multiple lamps in each room exactly where I needed them. This is a rare find. Two refrigerators made planning meals so easy! Any question I had (and I had many), Pat was there to answer on text or phone. I definitely enjoyed this house and we would rent here again.

Shell of a time

She’ll Cottage

We really enjoyed our stay. Pat was so nice and very helpful. The only thing that could have been nicer was the weather, but we preferred sitting in the beautiful screened porch and watching the rain while it snowed at home. Very nice pool and the house was clean and had everything we needed.

Second spring break at this lovely house

This was our second stay, three years apart. The house is still lovely and feels like someone's home. The access to the beach is a huge bonus. The walk is probably 5 min at the most. The kids loved the pool and the area around the pool is comfortable and relaxing. We will stay yhere again!

Relaxing

A well maintained property, better than we expected. Exactly what we were looking for in a vacation destination. Enjoyed what we call beach church with our worship leader Sue Ann on our first day. Pat is an outstanding property owner. Home was clean with plenty of extras. We will definitely rent this property again.

Look No Further

Shell Cottage is where it's at. We couldn't be more satisfied. The home has everything provided for you that you could need. Even your own private beach access. This was our 4th visit to North Captiva and by far the best one yet, thanks to Pat and her sweet friend Charm.

Perfect cottage for perfect vacation in perfect location! We’ve stayed on the island before and loved it. But this place and the owner far exceeded our expectations. Her standards were far greater than my own! We were coached on what to bring & not bring before we arrived. Actually, the only thing you really need is a few changes of clothes and your food items. Pat has thought of everything else - and I mean EVERYTHING! We were met at the dock, given guided tour on way to house, and walked through and shown everything. The house is close to beach. We had a nice parking area and entrance to beach. Loved the beach chairs & umbrella! The beach was nice and it was choppy for surf fishing - but who cares. We ordered fresh fish & shrimp from Boats & Fun. The outdoor griddle was a huge bonus. The pool was wonderful and very secluded & private. The house stayed plenty cool during days and the fans were scattered throughout. We loved the outdoor shower too! As stated above - she had everything we could have wanted and needed. Next time I may just pack a backpack! Thanks Pat for sharing the Cottage with us and giving us time to answer questions and help us out. We will see you in 2027!

Personal Island Oasis

Our contact was the homeowner, Pat. She was on the dock with our cart when we arrived and took us to the property. The house was clean, nicely decorated, well stocked with every thing we needed and very comfortable. There was a nice welcome basket of wine and snacks! The pool area sold us on this property and it did not disappoint. It was the perfect place to spend time together lounging, listening to music, eating and playing games. We did have an issue with algae developing in the pool at the end of the week. If we were staying longer, we would have reached out to Pat about it. I suspect there was something that we could have done. It may be good to know what that was ahead of time. The front porch was another favorite spot. The furniture was very comfortable and the pull screen curtains were great to keep closed when needed but open when we wanted to watch for the woodpeckers! The furniture and beds in the house we’re all very comfortable. The kitchen and bathrooms are updated and attractive. (FYI - there is a strong sulfur smell from water at this home. I know that’s something that bothers some people. We don’t recall it at the other home we rented on the island, so it may have been a temporary issue). There were nice little “touches” everywhere around the house and it was stocked if anything you can think to need. The location on the island was perfect with beach access nearby. There are several locations where you can park your cart to get to different beach accesses as well. We used them all to explore as much of the beach as possible. We had our groceries delivered, which wasn’t cheap but was worth every penny. We fixed our meals mostly at the house. We did enjoy appetizers and drinks at both Barnacles and Mangos several times and had a very good dinner at The Boathouse to celebrate our anniversary. It week was exactly what we had expected and we can’t imagine not coming back to the island and this home again next year!!

Paradise

The hardest part for us was the ferry getting there. Everything else was extremely easy and communication with the owner was great. Loved the cottage, decor and amenities plus the location. Miss it already and hope to get the chance to go to paradise again someday.

Everything we needed!

Thanks Pat for a great stay. The house had everything we needed for cooking and enjoying a week together, even things we would not typically expect— Games! Pool floats! Sand toys! Knives that cut! The island and house were awesome and Pat was a great host - she went above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. We would definitely go back!

Lovely stay

We were a family of 4 adults and 2 children. The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed and then some. The beach is 5 minutes walk. Beautiful sunsets and good fishing right off the beach. Private pool was amazing. The location of the house is great and surrounded by thick vegetation, making it feel very private, as opposed to many other houses on the island.
