About this property

The Hideaway @ Byron

A Byron Bay secret hideaway. Rustic charm exudes from this historic, cosy, cottage. Comfortably sleeps 5 with kitchen and bathroom. Set on 12 acres, overlooking pastures. Amenities include saltwater pool, firepit and bbq area. Relax and unwind in the shade of ancient fig trees and watch the setting sun. A short 6 minute drive to Byron Bay beaches and town. Easy, short drives to all towns in the Shire. Close to the M1, Ballina and Gold Coast airport. A truly special place to stay.

The space
This was the original farmhouse over 100 years ago. It looks ramshackle but don't be mislead. Underneath the rustic exterior we've hidden a new roof, insulation and solid timber structure. Kitchen has a slow combustion stove and reverse cycle aircon. Comfortable beds and quality linen. Easy access to all amenities including the pool, bbq area and games room.

Guest access
All amenities on the grounds are available to guests. Please stay out of stock paddocks and always leave gates as you find them. Be sure to catch sunset beside the giant fig trees.

While the place was very clean and the groundskeeper was lovely and did what he could to help, the place was not sufficiently set up for guests, and especially at this price point. The oven and stove did not work, the AC did not work, there were no knives in the kitchen, very insufficient kitchen pots and pans, and it was impossible to lock the door when going out. There are no curtains on the windows and bright patio lights that shine all night. While the staff on site were lovely and as helpful as they could be, the host was generally dismissive of a number of these issues, some of which were not addressed at all. The place is clean and well located, but I sincerely hope this review prompts a bit more effort on the part of the host to better the stay of future guests.

Showing overseas family sights

Check in was smooth. Property had a locely ruatic feel to it and was nice and secluded. Short drive to lots of great local attractions.We were also able to bring along our small dog who loved exploring the property and being included. Great little getaway.
