About the host
Hosted by Michael Moore
Michael grew up here in the City of Tonawanda and Sharon grew up in Ohio. We joined force over 30 years ago and have rehabbed our house which was once a saloon in the 1800's canal days to our home with a full guest flat on the 1st floor. We love gardening, music, reading and good food. We host a garden walk in mid July and Porchfest the last Sunday of August. We live in close proximity to the Niagara river and the numerous trails connecting our communities. Happy to host those who want to experience some of the sights of Western New York from architecture to natural wonders to our professional sports teams.
Why they chose this property
It is in the old section of our little city with unique homes and a number of restaurants and shops in walking distance. We are steps away from the Niagara river and close to Niagara Falls and Buffalo, Lake Erie and Lake Ontario.
What makes this property unique
It started out as a saloon and restaurant in the 1800's. Prohibition turned it into a corner store with apts. through 1961 and then had a beauty salon in the storefront through the mid 1980's. We started rehabbing it in 1995 to its current form with 2 double decker porches with 580 turned spindle and posts. The extensive gardens are a labor of love with new points of interest added every year. We have an outdoor dining area covered by a gazbo and outdoor living room on a stamped concrete patio. A firepit area was recently added.
