About the host
Hosted by Robert Nichols
Mary and I first met on the original LaPrade's resort property in 1973. My family owned LaPrade's and Mary came to work prior to her fall semester of college. Thirty-seven years later, our paths crossed and we eventually married May of 2010. Family time is precious to us. The cabin at Lake Burton has been a special place for us to make memories with our daughters and their families.
Why they chose this property
This property holds sentimental value as it intertwines with our personal history. We initially crossed paths on the original LaPrade's property in 1973, which my family owned and managed for three decades. In 2010, while preparing for our wedding, we refurbished this home, formerly the residence of the LaPrades' head farmer.
What makes this property unique
Nestled amidst the tranquil creekside setting of the original LaPrades property, our retreat offers a perfect blend of seclusion and convenience. Enjoy easy access to outdoor adventures with LaPrade's full-service Marina nearby, offering boat rentals, dining, and shopping. Embark on scenic drives around picturesque Lake Burton, Lake Seed, and Lake Rabun, with detours to marvel at Minnehaha Falls. Nature enthusiasts will delight in the proximity to Moccasin Creek State Park and Burton Trout Hatchery just two miles north. Hikers and anglers will find themselves in paradise, with close proximity to the Appalachian Trail, golf courses, trout streams, and lake fishing spots. Despite its tucked-away feel, our property remains conveniently equidistant (only 18 miles) from the charming towns of Helen, Clayton, and Clarkesville, GA, ensuring that dining and entertainment options are never too far away.
