Had a wonderful stay - house accommodated our group of 12 very well and the closeness to Hulls Cove, Bar Harbor and the Acadia visitor center was very convenient.
Fun house with huge yard. Lots of seating on patio and front deck. Wonderful location with Acadia Park very near, a couple of restaurants that are a walkable distance away and large rooms for plenty of space to spread out or find privacy.
We had a wonderful stay.A rural setting within town. The property was just far enough away from the downtown crowds. The beds are comfortable. Plenty of linens and great water pressure. I would recommend the hosts and the home.
Everything clean, beds comfortable. Kitchen fully equipped. Easy access to Acadia National Park. Owner quickly responsive to any questions I had. We loved also that it was quiet, a bit away from downtown Bar Harbor, with its traffic, etc.Only thing I'd change - filling the potholes on the "access" road.
We had a wonderful stay at the Orchard House in Bar Harbor! It was perfect for our family — spacious, comfortable, and just a short drive from both downtown and Acadia National Park. The setting was peaceful and scenic, and we especially loved watching the chickens, ducks, and even deer right on the property. A great mix of nature and convenience. Highly recommend.
Our extended family had the most wonderful time at The Orchard House! We so enjoyed eating home cooked meals around the large table, watching the girls play in the orchard and exploring Acadia/Bar Harbor! The home is clean, well cared for, and the owner is delightful!
The location of this home is fabulous for all activities around Bar Harbor. The home is very well stocked with spices, supplies, towels, night lights, etc. We loved seeing the turkeys and deer in the Apple Orchard every day. The home was super comfortable for eight adults. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.It would have been nice to have more than one key for 4 couples. The outside of the home and carpeting will benefit from some tender loving care.
This place is amazing! Spacious, clean, great location. You can cook all your meals in the very well-appointed kitchen. It’s close to Bar Harbor and Acadia, but is far enough away from the hustle to escape from the noise and activity of town. Patricia is a great host, and answered any questions quickly. All her small but special touches were so thoughtful and appreciated. Other hosts could learn a few things from her. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay and if we ever come back through Acadia, would absolutely stay here again. Absolutely recommend.
Beautiful spacious property. Owner very helpful and accessible. House very conveniently located to both sides of Island. Lots of room inside for privacy and group get togethers. Loved the chickens and ducks and the Chipmunks and the deer just outside. Second visit to this property.
Beautiful house in a beautiful setting for a quiet family vacation. The kitchen was great to cook in with everything we needed for big family dinners. It was truly like home away from home.
My husband and two of our adult children with three grandchildren had a wonderful stay at the Orchard House. Tricia was a wonderful host who answered any questions I had before and during the trip. The house was large, bright and clean. We loved our stay and it is so close to Acadia, downtown Bar Harbor and some great places to eat. Our grandkids loved watching the ducks and chickens and walking around the yard. Tricia has thought of all the details, big and little and there was nothing we wished we had! We would 100% recommend this house!!!
Overall, terrific property and one I’d recommend to any family. Close proximity to Bar Harbor and sits in a quiet neighborhood tucked away from any noise. It’s a bit of a compound where there’s 3-4 houses that share the same driveway which is the only thing that makes it not completely private.
We absolutely loved the Orchard House. Such a fun and unique property and perfect for a family of all ages! Everything we needed was provided and then some. Great place, would highly recommend.
Orchard House is a beautiful comfortable home, ideally situated near Bar Harbor and close to Acadia. It’s immaculately clean and perfect for family gatherings, with room to spread out as needed.
Wonderful home base for a week exploring Acadia and Mt Desert Island as a family reunion
What a nice place to stay. All the items we needed, large and small. We played cards at night at the big table, easily cooked meals, had easy access to Acadia, Bar Harbor and other fun places. Beds and bathrooms were great. Spacious, attractive, comfortable, clean, owners quick to respond.
We had a magical time at the Orchard House! It was everything we wanted for a family of 8 on vacation - lots of space and 3 bathrooms was key! The location is wonderful, communication with owner was prompt and helpful. Would stay here again!
Our family enjoyed the house with a large yard and deck. The house provides great sleeping options and bathrooms. Every area of the house was wonderfully decorated. The owner was lovely and if needed she was there to help us with any questions or hiccups. Best yet, the location to the park and downtown Bar Harbor, was perfect.
Great home! Spacious. Loved the kitchen. Loved all the bedrooms. Quiet. Beautiful apple trees. Working with Trish was absolutely a delight! We shopped hard and came “Home” and rested so well.

About the host
Hosted by Owner Patricia Ropp
The Orchard House, our home, began as a small photographers cottage down on the shore in Hulls Cove. Some time around the early 1900's the cottage was moved up to the orchard.
It escaped the Great Fire of Bar Harbor in 1947 but burned to the ground exactly 50 years later in 1997. We rebuilt the house, bigger this time because our family was growing and now the house's story has seen another change.
We look forward to welcoming guests to the Orchard House and for you to enjoy the house and its surroundings and become part of its story too.
