The cabin was spacious. We enjoyed the large deck. The steps to the water and the dock were easy to get down. We enjoyed the quiet and lack of close neighbors.
All the conveniences are provided for a vacation in the wilderness and only 15 minutes to shopping and dining in Houlton. Baxter State Park is a must see and just an hour away. And New Brunswick is just a few minutes from Houlton. Or just stay here and kayak on Drews Lake.
Cabin was in a perfect, private spot. Very clean and bigger than we expected. We had great weather and the lake was amazing. Perfect for swimming or lounging on a tube. Thanks again to the Fillions...a great time had by all!

Adequate accomodations
The cabin was adequate, as far as accommodations go, but the upstairs is very hot on these hot days. The ancient window a/c was not up to the task of cooling much of the space. When we opened windows, we were inundated with LOTS of flies and bugs. Lighting was very dim. The expectations for checkout tasks was unreasonable, especially given the fact the cost of the cabin through Vrbo included a cleaning fee—vacuuming, sweeping, cleaning toilets, sinks and showers, cleaning barbecue grill, taking out trash and recyclables, etc., etc. One wonders exactly what that cleaning fee covers and whether the cabin is checked between rentals, given that we found trash in the bathroom wastebasket upon arrival, along with dirty kitchen towels in the washing machine. The lake is lovely and a convenient location for visiting with family who live nearby, and the host responsive, but there were many annoying aspects to this rental, I’m afraid.

Hello Judy,
I’m sorry your stay coincided with the very unusual and record-breaking temperatures that hit the New England in July.
The one room AC unit will not cool the entire home. It is not new but, it does do a good job at what it’s designed to do, cool one room. Nowhere in the listing do we advertise that the home has central AC.
I don’t understand how you could have had a problem with flies and bugs. Perhaps you opened a window without dropping the screen window in place. This is the first time I have heard of this problem, and we have been renting our home for over 10 years.
Regarding the interior lighting, again for over 10 years of renting to guests, you are the first guest to mention this as a problem.
I also want to reassure you that you were never charged a cleaning fee. None of our guests have ever been charged a cleaning fee. Please look at your VRBO invoice. There should be no indication of a cleaning fee charge on the invoice. I certainly didn’t receive payment for a cleaning fee. In order to keep cost down, we do ask our guests to clean the home before they depart.
If upon arrival, a guest notices a problem with our home, both VRBO and I want our guests to let us know about it as soon as possible, so any problem can be remedied quickly. Prior to seeing your review, the only feedback I received from you was during day #2 of your trip when you stated, “We are here and doing fine so far”! I mistook that as an indication that you were happy you selected our home for your vacation.
First of all I would like to mention the owner of this property Joe. He is great. Always there for questions or concerns. The property is a great. The location is amazing. I would stay again anytime.
Its a very nice home, with lots of amenities. great to be able to have access to washer and dryer and fully stocked kitchen, and 2 bathrooms. The lake was great, it's a rocky bottom so the owners advise to wear shoes (we wore crocs) was helpful. Owner is very available for questions. great customer service! The view is amazing! and the fire pit was one of my highlights! having access to kayaks was also appreciated and we had a great time exploring the lake. One fair warning, the camp road is dirt/gravel, and lots of hills so our plan of doing some light biking was not in the cards, you need to be in shape to bike or hike! the driveway is very steep down (I was warned by the owner). It was a little hard to maneuver our van down the driveway so we could unpack, but turned out even harder to get it back UP the driveway. Our 2nd vehicle was a Prius, and it could NOT get back up the driveway, it had rained which made it a little slick, but we got it good and stuck and had to get it towed. just fair warning, there is a place to park before it gets to the steepest part, and I would advise that (so did the owner honestly). We did finally leave our vehicles there, which made it a bit of work packing back up to leave. that steepness and the 40 steps to the dock were a small drawback. Not enough to make the trip a bad experience though! but if you have mobility issues, it is something to consider. The first day was very hot and humid, and it was hard to air out the cabin, many windows didn't have screens and the ones that did seemed to still get small bugs through it, such is life in the woods, but the owners has fans available and AC in one room. The rest of our trip unfortunately was overcast and rainy and cool, but we made the most of it, and had a good time, did some puzzles, and watched some movies the owner had. Would definitely consider going again!
We enjoyed this beautiful little gem on Drew's lake and fell lucky to have found it! The sunsets were beyond amazing and the cottage is absolutely adorable and well equipped with everything that you will need for a nice little getaway :) We would love to come back! A+ communication with the host.
We traveled 3 hours and it was worth every minute. It was quiet, private and overall beautiful. The lake was perfect temperature for swimming. The cabin had a great layout that worked well for the whole family. Even when the kids didn't want to be outside (or if it was too hot) there were plenty of games to play and things to keep them entertained. It was hard to leave and go back to reality. Thanks so much for a relaxing week!
The cabin is charming with nice quiet location. I would definitely stay here again. The “third” bedroom is not a bedroom. It is not private as and you pass thru this room to get to the upstairs bedroom and the back deck.
Good communication with the owner. The place was nice and clean with lots of room. Great views and love the fire pit near the lake. Nothing like having a fire while watching the sunset and listening to the loons. Will definitely return.
The cabin was comfortable and well supplied. The water was perfect for swimming - clean and warm. Enjoyed fishing, kayaking, and evening fires. Hope to be able to spend more time here next year!
Great rental. Thanks for allowing us to stay at your place. Took the kayaks across the lake, swam daily, built camp fires, listened to Loons, grilled food on the deck, watched the sunset, read a book by the dock, and watched movies from a plus collection of flicks. Thanks.
We had a wonderful week staying at this cabin. The check in process was very simple and the owners were very quick to respond with any questions we had. We will definitely be booming again for next year!
I have 3 boys that came with us ages 11,15, and 16. They all thanked us for their time and expressed how much they enjoyed the trip. They want to return next year. Thank you Joe and Amy!
Wonderful cottage. The shoreline was not for children, no area to play
Also, the deck was not child friendly with large spaces in the rail system leading to a steep drop.
This camp and lake was excellent, just what we were looking for. Two young grandchildren with us and they had a ball along with their parents and grandparents.
