Bad experience
Upon check-in we discovered the AC was not working. Imagine Birmingham in June. It was unbearable. The host said the cleaner had notified them the morning of our check-in that the air was not working. The host did not make us aware of the issue and they had plenty of time since check-in was at 4pm. The host said the maintenance crew could not arrive until the next day. That did us no good since we were only staying one night. The host offered a portable AC unit for a 2BD2BA unit. I guess were all supposed to sleep in the same room with the portable. I spent 3 hours on the phone with VRBO as they contacted the host and escalated the issue. VRBO stated there were no additional properties available as they were all full. I would assume so since the host did nothing to rectify the issue until after 4pm. Of course nothing is available. I stressed we ha da teen with a service animal and sleeping in those hot conditions put her at risk. No one cared. The host refused a refund. After threatening legal action over the misrepresentation of the property, VRBO paid for our hotel stay. The property location is not the safest. There is a large open trash dumpster where you enter the garage where bags of trash lay on the ground as well as an old couch someone dumped there. The pet play area advertised was filthy. It was covered in dog poop where owners do not pick up after their pets. The poop can was overflowing so much, it was tilted over with exposed dog poop. Look elsewhere!
