Amazing location, with super rural setting, peace & quiet, & lovely views. Dated but welcoming house, we felt very comfortable. Rabbits, red squirrels & lots of birds were great to see! Dark skies too.
There's nothing that wasn't considered, from the cleanliness, to the games or boots and backpacks. Location is beautiful and the house feels like home. Definitely want to return.
Well equipped and a true haven of peace and quiet. The White House is set at the top end of the valley with views over the Don River. Beautiful setting and solitude
Large spacious house with updated bathrooms in the Cairngorms National Park. Easy to drive to Balmoral Castle and various hiking routes. Within walking distance to cute Tea Room Restaurant. Best to have a car for the stay and to ensure you have purchased groceries and gas prior to arriving.
Stand-alone house in a nice part of the Cairngorms
This large house is well off the main road, with a lovely view out over the stream to the hills beyond. It offers proximity to walks in the area. The kitchen was well equipped and a nice room to centre oneself around, and keep warm. The conservatory was a bit cold and musty but might be nice in the summer months, when you can air it out. We found the beds to be bony and think they probably need renewing some time soon. The house has a lot of potential for a family, so it can get back some of its 'lived-in' feeling.
If you are looking for peace, quiet and the experience of remote living in Scotland the White House is just perfect. Car necessary as it’s a 25 min drive to nearest town with facilities. We had hired cars which was just as well as there was no way our own cars could have coped with the terrain and the snowy weather. We arrived at 5pm - really dark outside so we couldn’t find house at first. Host answered phone immediately and gave us instructions. The house is at the end of a track which is quite bumpy and pot holed. The house is large and comfortable. It is quite old fashioned. It has lovely grounds and the views from the windows are gorgeous. There were 7 in our family staying but plenty of space for us all. The 4 bedrooms were basic but comfy beds. You cannot use the central heating but the host had left some portable radiators for each of the rooms. We were a bit a cold at times especially at this time of year (January). The kitchen is excellent - very well stocked with utensils etc so we had some great dinners cooked. There is no WiFi and the TV only works if you have data yourself. To be honest we did not miss watching TV and just played music through the Bluetooth speaker the host had left. There were lots of games too so we had fun going through these too. We went out for dinner the first night to Ballater and the drive back was a bit scary going up the hills in the dark. Many lovely places to explore in surrounding area on foot or by car.
Het huisje was erg mooi en ruim. Midden in de natuur. We hadden tijdens ons verblijf een probleem met het water maar dat werd supersnel opgelost door de host. Al met al een top verblijf gehad!
