The Shabby Chic Studio - Cute 1-Bedroom Close to UNC!
Okay the Shabby Chic Studio is actually a proper 1-bedroom, but I couldn't resist the alliteration. :)
The John and Mattie Norwood House is a historic craftsman bungalow built in the early 1900s with a lot of history behind it (it has Freemason symbols as its gable vents!). It's even officially noted as one of Chatham County's "Historic Structures" (check the listing out in the photos)!
Lots of character and plenty of space for a working trip or a relaxing one.
Walk into the charming kitchen complete with coffee and tea. Think hardwood floors, lots of sunlight pouring through the windows, and a private deck with a grill. Pro tip: Make a cup and sit on the porch by the rose bush to start your morning right. There is plenty of desk space to set up shop, a wall furnace to keep you toasty and a cast iron tub to relax after a long day.
The house is broken up into two spaces with two separate, secure entrances. Both spaces have access to the laundry room/mudroom area. Our other listing "The Cozy Bungalow - Noted 'Historic Home' near UNC" is an equally charming larger space. If you are need of a larger space too, book the entire house and enjoy a 10% discount.
If you prefer a country feel while still being less than 10 mins from town, this place is perfect for you. Great for college games, the hospital, or visiting students!
We are close to town (5-10 minutes to UNC), but just enough in the country for some privacy and to be surrounded by trees. Located right off Hwy 15-501 with a park and ride lot just across the street and amazing restaurants, groceries and park options all within 5 miles. Walmart for essentials (1/4 mile), Lowes Foods (1/4 mile) and Harris Teeter (2 miles) for basic groceries, Weaver St Market (2 miles) for health food and local options. Southern Village (2 miles) has restaurants, gyms, and bars, and in the other direction, you have pizza, coffee, and a breakfast cafe. Many new spots opening every month as this area is growing fast! If you're outdoorsy, Briar Chapel has great trails!
We're 10 minutes or less to downtown Chapel Hill and Carrboro, 10-15 minutes to Pittsboro/Jordan Lake, 20-25 to Hillsborough and Durham, and 30 minutes to Raleigh.
But above all else, we hold the guest experience to the highest standard and are here to make sure you have whatever you need to make your stay fun, safe, and comfortable!

This studio is very conveniently located to both Chapel Hill and Pittsboro, both of which we visited while in the area for a garden tour. I enjoyed sitting outside on the nice porch while my wife took a nap in the very comfortable bed. We were very satisfied with all aspects of this property.
Wonderful home within driving distance to downtown Chapel Hill with all the amenities you would need during your stay.

Liked: Cleanliness, communication
When we entered the home, it smelled VERY musty. This could be easily remedied with a dehumidifier.
Location was excelled in relation to the wedding venue and NC Botanical Gardens. Also close to groceries and several restaurants.
Rain is the epitome of a good hostess! She worked with me on arrival time; she sent an detailed email--and pictures--explaining/showing the driveway/main highway! Very helpful....
The house was immaculate and stocked with everything I needed! The little touches that not many people think of: sticky notes, scissors, white noise machine, ear plugs, candies, coffee/tea/sugar substitute/sugar...even ice cubes and a pitcher of cold water!
Lots of lamps for reading/writing....comfortable bed with fluffy pillows and a throw to cuddle up with!
I was there for my Great Granddaughter's first birthday party and having a quiet, comfortable place to return to was wonderful!
Sam went out of her way after I had checked out to photograph the house/FreeMason symbol because I forgot to do it before I left!
THANK YOU, Rain and Sam for a wonderful weekend getaway!
I hope to stay again when I come to visit my daughter and family!
Not sure about the shopping part, we were the for a baseball game. The property was clean inside and out. The communication with the hosts could not have been better. It was everything we expected and more. We will stay there again. I give it 5 stars in every category!
