Haven Ridge cabin in the private New River Preserve community is an idyllic location for a secluded getaway for couples, small families, or a few friends. Haven Ridge is a perfect place to rest and recharge, escape from a hectic schedule, enjoy nature, or celebrate a special occasion.
Antique and modern elements combine to create a unique mountain experience on this private 1.85 acre lot. The exterior features preserved circa 1882 logs, while the interior features reclaimed trim from a 1940s tobacco barn combined with modern construction. The covered screen porch is a guest favorite!
The property has 125 ft of private river frontage (the cabin is not directly on the water), just a short walk down the drive, below the cabin, is a grassy area, easily accessible and perfect for a picnic, fishing, kayaking, or just enjoy sitting by the water with a good book! Folding chairs are available for use at the cabin. This walk is a short distance down the gravel lane. The hike is steep but there is space directly below the cabin on the property to park a car if necessary while using the river space. ** SEE aerial view of property in photos

>Fully stocked kitchen with dining area
Lower Level
>Two spacious bedrooms- sleeps three (one queen bed, one twin bed),

* *The lower level is NOT easily accessible for folks with stair challenges.
**Please note: the cabin is semi-remote, access is a gravel road, a front wheel drive is best, an All wheel drive or 4 wheel drive vehicle would be recommended in inclement weather, there is easy parking for a maximum of 2 vehicles
The New River Preserve is a private community, and while is seems remote, it is located just 15 minutes from West Jefferson, 6 miles from the quaint town of Lansing. Both towns offer grocery shopping, good restaurants, specialty shops, easy walking and lots to see and do.
Boone and Blowing Rock are an easy forty minute drive from the cabin and worth a day trip visit. Grayson Highlands is also close by and has great non technical hiking trails, often the ponies are grazing along the trails.
We hope you enjoy your time in the North Carolina mountains!

We are NC residents, born and raised, We recently retired and enjoy having a quiet cabin to come to for relaxation and found we really enjoy sharing it with others who are also looking for a relaxing getaway.
Why they chose this property
The Preserve on the New River is a safe and secluded neighborhood with beautiful views of the river and close proximity to nearby towns even though you feel like you are miles from any crowds. There are a few full time residents that are always helpful and there for me in emergencies, which I appreciate when at the cabin alone
What makes this property unique
Haven Ridge cabin was built by father and son Charlie and Chuck Perry.
The logs were brought from Danville Virginia from a structure dating back to 1870. The original logs were hand hewn and milled on the property in Va.They were stacked and tagged before transporting to NC. There are still some remnants of the paper tags stuck behind some of the old nails if you look closely. Area craftsmen were hired to help rebuild the logs and add special chinking in keeping with the original building.
The wood trim inside the cabin, including door framing, wainscoting and baseboards were milled from a tobacco barn on the Perry’s farm in Wake County. The kitchen cabinets were built of hickory by a cabinetmaker in Apex NC. All of the decking is built of Ipe (e-pay) wood, a type of Brazilian walnut known for its strength, hardness and durability, often lasting over 75 years.
The cabin was built with love and craftsmanship by the family and they have shared many memories with us about their time owning it. We feel so honored to be the new caretakers for this property. We have hiked, camped and paddled around the New River area for many years and we have always wanted a place in this area. We are so blessed to have this place to unwind and relax and hope you will feel the same peacefulness we do when we visit. Please enjoy!
