Howard’s “Great Escape” is wonderful. Very clean and comfortable. The views are breathtaking at every turn. There is not a space in this house where you don’t see the mountains majesty. Also love the spacious floor plan and the hot tub. My family of 6 was at home here. Thanks Howard.

2nd time visit. Location is excellent about 20 min to W/Jefferson [10 min down from cabin, 10 min to W/J]. Location is very private & above the tree line for lovely mountain views. Enjoyed the spa, the porch and its ffswing, the views incl. phenomenal sunrise! First time we enjoyed the cooler mtn temps end of June; 2nd time, the lovely Fall colors mid-Oct. [tho' it turned out leaves a smidge late "this year." ] Host Howard has quick turnaround re / questions and/or concerns. House was spotless and free of any odors.

Incredible view of the mountains from the deck! This mountain cabin outside of West Jefferson was beautiful! Very clean, hot tub was great, and the kitchen had everything we needed. While the drive up to the house takes a few extra minutes, it is worth it! Privacy is excellent, as well.

Beautiful property with amazing views. Four wheel drive is best as this can get a little steep before getting to the house. Also best so you dont mess up the road by spinning your tires. It is gravel. Love the porch area. Always seems to have a nice breeze to enjoy!

Thanks Sylvia for your nice review of your visit to The Great Escape! Tough roads often lead to interesting retreats! I will admit an SUV or pickup would make a more comfortable ride than a small 2WD especially a FWD coup or sedan. But, after you do it once, it’s usually no big deal. As you saw, I drive my little roadster up there with no problems. The ride is worth the views and the privacy, I think. Hope you will plan to come back again soon!

Howard was great in responding to some questions I had prior to arrival. The cabin was very clean and cozy. Loved that the kitchen had everything needed to cook meals. I just wish we could have stayed longer!

Very nice cabin with large balcony and a great view! Hot tub worked well. Also great views from windows of the cabin. Kitchen was very well sized. We had been warned by the listing, but let me clarify again that the drive up to the cabin is no joke. It was very manageable in our Chevy Blazer, but we had trailered a motorcycle… so for anybody coming with a motorcycle (unless it’s an adventure bike)… that road is a hard NO! But there are storage units in West Jefferson which we utilized for the bike. Great communication with Howard. Smooth and easy check in and check out process.

We had a wonderful stay! The host communicated quickly, the house was clean, and the view from the porch was awesome! We basically lived on the porch for the weekend. The hot tub was in great shape and fairly private, only 1 house below was visible and a road leading to another house. We cooked almost all of our meals there and found everything we needed in the kitchen, also used the grill on the porch with ease. The road to the house is gravel and steep at times, but we were aware ahead of time and had no issues. Only downside was that we wished the bed was more comfortable, our backs were hurting the next morning. Overall, we had a great stay and would recommend the host as he works hard to make sure you have a great stay!
