Hidden Pond Lodge | Family Cabin on a Private Stocked Fishing Pond in Hochatown
Hidden Pond Lodge is a family cabin built around its private, stocked fishing pond, just steps from the cabin. It's an analog, screens-off kind of place: families slow down, get outside and get real face time together.
The pond
Our catch-and-release pond is stocked, with hundreds of fish that spawn every spring: catfish, hybrid striped bass, bluegill and more. It's kept clean, with cattails cut back and algae treated. Fish from either of the two docks (both with Adirondack chairs) or take the very stable pedal boat, rated for 6 adults, out on the water. Kids love it. A rack on the side deck usually holds a few fishing poles, but bring your own gear and bait to be sure. Swimming in the pond is allowed; life jackets are not provided, so please bring them for children.
Sleeping: sleeps 10
3 king bedrooms + a bunk loft with 2 twin-over-twin bunk beds, 3.5 baths.
There's a TV in each bedroom and a 70-inch TV in the living room.
- First-floor king suite with private bath
- First-floor king bedroom with full bath across the hall
- Upstairs king suite with a large en-suite shower and bath
- Second-story bunk and game loft with foosball, DVD library: 2 twin-over-twin bunk beds, its own half bath, TV with DVD player and family/kids' DVDs, couch, high ceilings and big windows; a closable door separates it from the upstairs bedroom
Made for families
- New ping pong table, foosball, professional dart board, corn hole, horseshoes, tetherball and disc golf
- Children's swing set with slides (ages 3-11)
- 18-ft Native American-style tipi with cots for a night under the stars
- Stone fire pit with Adirondack chairs
- Private 6-person hot tub on the 1,000 sq ft deck
- Private gated drive – a brand-new gate guests can close for the night.
- Deck gates keep little ones and dogs on the patio
- The whole 1.56-acre lot is graveled, so no muddy shoes or paws
Inside
Lincoln Logs, puzzles and board games for screens-off evenings, a gas fireplace, WiFi 6, a fully equipped kitchen with new appliances (2026), and a laundry room. The kitchen is stocked for holiday cooking, with new appliances (2026) and high-end commercial bakeware for baking season.
Good to know
- Dogs: up to 2, $150 pet fee
- Free 40-amp Level 2 EV charger: adds roughly 28-30 miles of range per hour (varies by vehicle); Tesla drivers can use the adapter that comes with the car
- About 3 hours from Frisco/Plano, and minutes from Hochatown, Beavers Bend State Park and Broken Bow Lake
Smoking
Smoking is not permitted inside the cabin in order to preserve the freshness and comfort of the space for future guests.
Quiet Hours
Quiet hours are observed from 10 PM to 10 AM out of respect for neighboring cabins and the surrounding community. Sound travels easily throughout the forested mountain areas.
Event Policy
Small events and gatherings may be allowed at the cabin, and a small event fee may apply. Please reach out before your stay to discuss your plans. While we may be able to accommodate more people for events, only the maximum sleeping occupancy is allowed to stay overnight at the cabin.
Nature & Environment
One of the most memorable parts of staying in a Broken Bow cabin is being surrounded by nature. Because this property is located in a wooded setting, guests may encounter wildlife and seasonal elements during their stay.
Deer, squirrels, raccoons, turkeys, and other native wildlife are commonly seen throughout the area. The cabin is professionally treated for pests, though occasional insects such as spiders, mosquitoes, beetles, ladybugs, or wasps may still appear, particularly during seasonal transitions or rain.
During spring months, pollen from surrounding pine trees may collect on outdoor surfaces despite cleaning efforts before arrival.
Keeping doors and screens closed whenever possible helps maintain a comfortable indoor environment throughout your stay.
We encourage guests to enjoy the peaceful surroundings while remaining respectful of neighboring cabins and the natural environment. Sound travels easily throughout the forested area.
What To Bring
We recommend bringing groceries, condiments, cooking oils and seasonings, personal toiletries, coffee and creamers, bug spray for mosquitoes and ticks, ice, and firewood with fire starters for the outdoor firepit.

Beautiful property with a wonderful and peaceful view. Very clean and absolutely loved the creativity with the towels. The kitchen was totally stocked with everything you could think of. The hot tub was also the cleanest one we had ever seen in all of our ten years going to Broken Bow.

Absolutely PERFECT!!
Great customer service. The cabin is absolutely breathtaking. The pond is beautiful. It was so quiet and peaceful. I cannot wait to go back.
The stocked pond and all the amenities made for a great family getaway! We caught tons of small blue gill, a few tiny catfish, and a few 12" bass in the pond.
The layout of this cabin was nice and the kitchen was well stocked. Cabin was super clean. Location is perfect--close to everything in Hochatown, the casino, and the lake and state parks.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in
We rented this place because our kiddos love to fish. We wanted a private location with a stocked pond and privacy. Not only did we not get one fish to bite but we had lots of “visitors “ trying to fish with us. Vehicles and motorcycles in and out of the “private” road so much that we didn’t think it was safe to leave any items outside while we were away. The cabin was clean and lovely with lots of activities for the kids. We enjoyed sitting around the firepit and the paddle boat was a blast. Lovely property just needs to up the privacy and fishing game!!

Hi Dulcy,
Thank you so much for staying with us at Hidden Pond Lodge and for taking the time to leave your honest review. We truly appreciate your feedback and are glad your family enjoyed the clean and lovely cabin, all the kids’ activities, the firepit evenings, and the paddle boat—it sounds like you still made some great memories together!
We’re sorry the fishing and privacy fell short of what you were hoping for. Our 1-acre pond is stocked with catfish, bass, and bluegill for catch-and-release, but in early spring (especially with the colder water we had in April) the fish can be pretty dormant, which unfortunately affected your experience. We always suggest checking current conditions or planning warmer months for the best bite.
We also take the privacy concern very seriously. The road is private, and we want every guest to feel completely secluded and safe. We’ve shared your feedback with our property managers right away and are looking into stronger measures (better signage, access controls, etc.) to prevent unauthorized visitors and keep the property feeling truly private.
We’d love the chance to host your family again when the fishing is at its peak—please reach out if we can help make that happen or offer any assistance for a future stay.
Thank you again for choosing Hidden Pond Lodge!
Warmly,
Hidden Pond Lodge Team

What a wonderful long weekend and the best house!! The house has absolutely everything you need, great set up on the inside!! The outside was a family dream - the boys were so happy just being at the house - had every activity you could think of - it was really magical and bringing our furry family member made it even better!! So relaxing and peaceful and just the best family vacation!!! Will for sure book again!! Outside gravel was a little getting used to for our dog, but he adapted quick!! Really close to hochatown and amazing hikes.

Hidden pond lodge
Pros: Very happy with our stay at hidden pond lodge. Beautiful location. Secluded. Private dock. Fish stocked pond. Fishing poles and paddle boat available. Clean house. Cabin themed. Teepee and playground outside. Cabin had nearly everything we needed.
Great communication from management company. Consistent.
Cons: like all cabins in this area, too many rules. Lots of tasks to do before we checked out. My dad was really scared he had to follow all the rules to a T.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Hidden Pond Lodge and appreciated the beautiful, secluded location, as well as the amenities we offer.
We understand that the checkout tasks can feel overwhelming at times, and we strive to maintain a clean and welcoming environment for all our guests. Your feedback is invaluable, and we’ll look into ways to make the process clearer and more manageable.
We hope to welcome you back for another relaxing stay in the future!
We loved the cabin, plenty of space for friends and family that came to visit and stay. Our 2 dogs loved the pond but the gravel hurt their paws so be cautious of that. The only negative thing I have to say is that we were called on Sunday by someone from Tree Line saying they saw that we had dogs and guests on the property. there are cameras all around the property but for someone to call me and tell me they are watching us made me feel uneasy. I did not appreciate that at all. So be aware that they are watching you on their cameras.
