About this property

Renovated 1800's Mountain Cabin

Peaceful hideaway in the forest, between Dupont and Pisgah forests. Relax on the front porch, you'll be lucky if you see one car go by ALL DAY! It's hard to believe we're 9.5 miles from Brevard and minutes away from several good restaurants & live music in Cedar Mountain. 15 minutes away from DuPont State Forest Visitor Center. EV and RV Friendly!

The space
Our cabin was built in the late 1800's. It has been completely rebuilt and is now up to current building codes. We have kept as many of the original features as possible, such as the moss-covered bark siding in the front and the rustic mosaic on the (nonworking) fireplace.

Entering the cabin through the front porch, you will find a family room/dining area with kitchenette, which as a microwave, small fridge/freezer, toaster oven, toaster, coffee machine, electric teapot and two-burner portable cooktop.

Next, there is a laundry area and a fully renovated bathroom.

The back room has a comfy sectional sofa that converts into a full size bed, as well as closet space, French doors overlooking a small deck, and a large screen TV equipped with Apple TV.

The large room upstairs has a queen bed and a twin bed, as well as a desk and a large picture window looking out over our beautiful property. Caution: The steps are STEEP, we do not recommend this for small children and anyone with mobility issues.

We are VERY dog friendly and welcome up to 2 well behaved pups. We have dog hosts and sometimes foster other dogs so if you have issues with dogs this is not the place to be! If you intend to bring more than 2 dogs please communicate with us beforehand to discuss.

Internet service is fiber optic with Starlink as backup and we have a Verizon 4G LTE Extender so we have excellent Verizon cell phone service.

We have a 40 AMP 220V External Connection 14-50R & 14-30R connectors for your EV or RV plus Sewer & Water connections for your RV. Bring your own portable Electric Vehicle charger and you can use this cabin as your home base. For RVs' small vehicles only (Class B, C, Travel Trailers or Pop-Ups) as our roads are 10 feet wide, curvy & very hilly! We live in an HOA that disallows sleeping in RVs' so please note that you may park your RV but NOT sleep in it.

NOTE: We do NOT provide the EV charging connector, only the 220V Outlet. Bring your own Charging Cable!

Other things to note
We have friendly dogs and welcome yours too. (We sometimes Foster dogs for a Dog Rescue locally).
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

This is a great rental if you want to "get away from it all". The cabin is nicely updated, spotless clean, but know that the bedroom is upstairs, and if you find stairs difficult, your option is the hide a bed in the TV room. The hosts are the best we have encountered in the VRBO program. It's a little hard to find and I strongly recommend printing out the directions which the host furnishes you before your visit. It is in the mountains and you are a good 20 plus minutes from beautiful little Brevard. Great stay! Highly recommended!

A Lovely get away

Everything was just as listed. A Quaint nice clean cabin off the beaten path yet close enough to everything. Trails for hiking just out the front door on the property or just a few miles from parks. It was a lovely get away.

We had the most relaxing anniversary getaway at this beautiful little cabin in the mountains! If you’re looking for a true escape from the hustle and bustle, we highly recommend staying here. The peace, quiet and tranquility were exactly what my husband and I needed. The cabin is tucked away in such a beautiful location, yet it’s only about 45 minutes from Asheville, so we were still close enough to get out and explore, shop, eat and enjoy the area. The cabin looks exactly like the pictures, and it was extremely clean, tidy and well cared for. Everything we could possibly need was there, and our host was absolutely wonderful. One thing to know is that the internet connection can be spotty at the cabin. Honestly, for us, that turned out to be a HUGE plus! We are always so busy and connected, so being able to truly disconnect for a few days was exactly what we needed. And if you do need a connection, it comes right back once you’re driving off the hillside. We spent our anniversary weekend relaxing, enjoying the mountains, sitting on the porch, exploring waterfalls and simply slowing down. It was exactly the kind of getaway we were hoping for.If you’re looking for a peaceful, cozy place to get away from it all, we highly recommend this cabin. We absolutely loved our stay and would definitely look forward to coming back in the future!

We stayed in the Renovated 1800's Cabin for 3 nights and what an Awesome place to be! It was everything my husband and I were looking for! Peace, quiet, nature and an added bonus, Deer in our front yard!!! We took our dog with us for her first vacation ever and she enjoyed it so much. She was able to walk the 8 acres with us which we have never had the freedom to do before. She just wanted to walk and explore All day, and she could! I have never seen my dog so happily worn out before. She felt so at home here that she walked in the house, she went straight back to the TV room couch and went to sleep. She isn't aloud on the furniture at home but the host is very accommodating with pets and she was aloud to be comfortable as long as she didn't leave a mess or ruin anything. And the town is Completely pet friendly as well. 98 % of the stores not only allow you to bring your pets into the stores , they all had treats for your pet! The cabin is well hidden, no traffic, peaceful and the Host and His Wife were easily accessible. We had a couple of very nice conversations with them when they were out walking their dogs. I can't think of a single thing to complain about. We will definitely be back next year! Thank-you Desmond and Tisha!

We absolutely loved this pet friendly cabin in Brevard! It has a charmingly rustic exterior with all the amenities you need on the inside. The owner Desmond was very welcoming and gave us some great dining recommendations and things to do in the area. It is close to downtown Brevard, but far enough away to provide a peaceful, quiet retreat. We will definitely be staying here again.
