About this property
Direct Oceanfront. Tranquility and Seclusion ~ Best Oceanfront Value!
30 DAY MINIMUM RENTAL
Private oceanfront house located on Oahu's West (Waianae) Coast near Makaha Surfing Beach. Enjoy the deep-blue ocean and great sunsets from the lanai and large grass lawn. Nap to the sound of the waves. The property fronts coral reefs and is five houses to a sandy cove where green turtles come to shore and bask in the sand.
This estate consists of a 1400 sq. ft vacation rental - 3BR 2BA on the second level (main house) and the caretaker lives in the downstairs apartment (separate entrance).
The 1400 sq. ft vacation rental is upstairs and consists of three bedrooms, two full baths, and is great for two families. Has a well stocked kitchen, living room, and is fully-furnished with 100% cotton sheets, towels, and beach towels. Comfortably sleeps up to 10. Three king size beds-one in each bedroom, two full size sofa beds with 3" memory foam toppers in the family room. We also have 2 pack-n-plays. New porcelain tile floors were installed in September 2018, new living room, dining room, and family room furniture in Nov 2016. New Bosch dishwasher installed in March 2019.
The caretaker lives in the downstairs apartment (separate entrance).
There is high speed internet access for your laptop/tablet/phone throughout, and cell phone reception is good.
Out of respect for my neighbors, I do not allow large functions, parties, or weddings. Only registered guests may stay at the property.
The beach cove (2 minute walk away) is one of the few places were sea turtles frequent most days, you can snorkel with them and tropical fish like Humu'humu'nuku'nuku'apua'a
Makaha is on the west coast of Oahu about 20 min past Ko-Olina and the Disney Aulani resort. The road ends five miles further up at beautiful Yokohama Beach. The west side (Waianae Coast) is a slice of local culture, a great place to go slow and enjoy the beauty. The house sits two blocks from the main road in a quiet neighborhood, with an automatic gate and lots of parking. Restaurants and shopping are three miles away in the town of Waianae (why-an-eye). It is about 45 minutes from the Honolulu Airport and an hour from Waikiki.
This is a non-smoking house, but outside and on the lanai is fine.

Everything was beautiful. The property was clean and the house was well appointed with everything you or a family would need for a vacation. Check in was a breeze and the neighborhood was lovely. It really was a beautiful house and I am looking forward to staying there again!
If you like being farther away from night life, this is the place for you. You fall asleep to the ocean waves and have your morning coffee watching the whales. There is an awesome little beach a short walk away that often has sea turtles sunning on the shore. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.
Wonderful property for relaxing with large group. Everywhere was within reasonable driving distance. The small beach down the street was perfect and less than a mile is a nice large, quiet beach with guards. The property is secure and quiet with gorgeous views! The communication with the owner was above par - appreciated the conversations.
Nice place with an amazing view! Everything went well and as described. Only negative about the house is the location, but if you are planning on staying put or ok with plenty of driving, it's a great place to stay!
Property had everything to make our stay enjoyable and memorable. Sitting on lanai watching the waves and sealife, and listening to waves was one of the best parts. The large kitchen table was great to have family meals at. The neighborhood was welcoming. Can't wait to go back.
Excellent location away from the hussle and bussle. Ocean view a real winner. Quite and clean. Appreciated the experience and do highly recommend. Thanks again
Information received in advance was very helpful. Location and ocean front seating was wonderful! Property manager was attentive and helpful. The extras were unexpected and wonderful. Thanks!
We just love staying at this property in Makaha! The ocean views, the sea wall and the little cove down the way never disappoints. This is our third time and we just consider it our home away from home in Hawaii at this point! Mahalo to Sinclair for always being a great host, and to Kathy for providing everything we needed for another wonderful stay in Makaha 🌈🌴🌺🌊🌅
This house was really good for my family and friends.
The location is easy and the neighborhood is nice and quiet.
Is literally 5 houses from Aki's turtle Beach small little area where the turtles are taking the sun and swimming in front of you.
The communication with the owner was easy and clear all the time.
The lady in charge of the keys (Lynn) was amazing, she was really nice and helpful with anything that we needed.
My family really enjoyed staying in this place.
We had 8 adults in our group. We were celebrating birthdays and anniversaries. We wanted to be on the water and this did not disappoint. We spent every minute we could out on the house deck or out on the deck by the water. There were sea turtles that came every morning to swim around in the water just over the wall. We walked to Aki’s cove several times and saw turtles there as well. Kathy was very sweet and attentive. IF I ever have the chance to go to Hawaii again, I would definitely stay here again!
Kathy & Sinclair we’re amazing Hosts! The house was everything it had stated in their post. My family & I enjoyed the backyard & the beautiful ocean front view!
Kathy was so easy to keep in contact with & was so kind.
When we got our confirmation, they sent us a thoroughly thought out email with everything from checking in/out, local spots to eat, beaches to check out, the history of the property & the neighboring properties as well & so much more!
I just thought that was so well thought out.
We hope this place & these people can also make your trip to Hawaii just as amazing as ours was.

Perfect for relaxation
We were quite removed from Honolulu, which was absolutly fine. There was plenty of space to spread out and relax for the six of us. The house could have been a bit cleaner, but with the constant salt water spray, that might have been tough. The dryer was persnickety, sometimes it worked, sometimes not. But that was not a killer, in that there was a clothesline outside. Communication was fantastic.
The property is exactly as described by the owner. The new kitchen was great and the yard facing the ocean was very nice. We saw turtles almost every day. Also, Aki's beach a few houses down was a great place to see turtles on the beach at sunset every day.
Only two negatives. 1) The house has a lot of ceiling fans but is still quite warm when the weather in in the high 80's. We came home to a 90-degree house almost every afternoon. It gets better in the evening, and we got used to it. 2) There is not much in the way of nice restaurants with 20-miles. If you want to cook yourself or eat at local places, it is great? We had some very good Thai and Korean food during our stay.
Overall, we would stay again.

Not a safe location!
Know that you are in an area overrun by homeless people. Some people were watching us and broke in while we were out and stole thousands of dollars of our stuff. It put a damper on our vacation and left us terrified for the rest of our stay. I was incredibly disappointed that the owner didn’t even reach out after the break in to make sure we were okay. I had to initiate contact with him days after the incident. It was frustrating and poor etiquette on his part.
Being right on the ocean was beautiful but I would never stay there or anywhere in that area again. We were told that the security cameras aren’t even functioning. The beaches in the area are not usable because of all the homeless shelters dotting the beach front. The location is far away from everything else on the island so it adds extra drive time to do anything.

Gorgeous ocean front
The rental is top floor only. Gorgeous views, sounds of the ocean amazing, beautiful soft grass yard. 3 king beds in rooms were great, with storage for clothes. Two pull out couches and mattresses were gross and very limited bed linens. Two bathrooms convenient, one shower head better than the other. Outside shower needs an update and fills with inches of water at your feet. Washer Dryer area needs update, dryer door doesn’t stay closed. Not sure if the back staircase is even still safe.
Needs simple things, salad spinner, plastic cups, new potato peeler, a warning that the grill is brickets. Fridge is nice and big. The neighborhood is quite run down, a tonne of tents and homeless on a lot of the parks in town. Ocean sounds with windows open and ceiling fans are lovely if u don’t mind very loud roosters, dogs and birds. Screens on all windows is a plus+
We saw turtles at the beach a few houses down, and the big beach down the road was very nice. (No food or washrooms) short drive to lots of beaches/hikes.
Plan to drive for at least an hour or more to go North , South and East Oahu
Took us 2.5hrs to get to Hanama bay, but it was worth it!
The lots on both sides of the house are run down, but empty. The price was right for water front in Oahu. : )
This spot was perfect for a family vacation! The listing was spot on. You are right on the water, just a few minutes walk from a beach where you are literally swimming with sea turtles (but of course keeping your distance), and there is so much space to spread out in the house. The kitchen in really well-stocked. The property manager was incredibly responsive to every question or concern we had (for example, we discovered the coffee grinder broke and she insisted on driving over that night to bring us another one!). The location of this property is both a plus and a negative, so I'll just be up front about that. The plus - you are away from the heavy tourist areas, you avoid the rainier side of the island, you can feel like you're getting a local experience. The downside - if you want to get into the tourist stuff, you have to drive everywhere and it can take forever. We planned our Diamond Head hike for 8am on Monday - HUGE mistake. We had to leave at 6am and it took almost 2 hours to get there because of traffic. It also takes about an hour to get to the North Shore regardless of traffic. So just know that going in. I still think it was 100% worth it. The beach 5 minutes drive up the road was amazing. and just 15 minutes further....where the Space Force base is....gorgeous. Anyway, you don't have to drive to get your gorgeous Hawaii beach and surf experience! I would stay here again in a heartbeat and recommend it highly.

Oceanfront view but not worth it
Suffice it to say that it's a lovely location on the west side of Oahu on the oceanfront...not that you can walk out there...it's rocky. But if you plan to explore the island you're in for long traffic delays on the main highway leading in and out of Waianae...since we booked for a whole month we did have the time to visit a number of places...but it was not worth dealing with the traffic. The home itself is not in the best shape. Whoever cleaned forgot to clean under places.. dust dead bugs everywhere...we left it cleaner than we found it. Is a mattress condition important? The mattress in the bedroom we used was one of the worst we've experienced. ...For what we paid we expected a firmer mattress...this one just sagged everywhere. Idk about the other 3 beds but i suspect they're the same. Dittoes for furniture...old shabby sinking to floor types. The door screens need fixing too...The best part of the location was the little beach just a couple minutes walk. Turtles congregate there and it's lovely to be so close to them. And the Waianae farmers' market just a couple miles north is a great place to get some homegrown organic veggies and ready to eat local food. People? Friendliest nicest native Hawaiian people we've met on any of the islands of Hawaii...Oahu has lovely places to visit but say this rental is located in a place that makes it hard to do that. Traffic congestion backups!
Paradise! Relaxation. An ocean in your backyard. If you want to get away to serene beauty and no worries, this is the place to stay. The house has everything you need for your vacation from snorkeling gear and boogie boards to coffee grinders and colanders. A spacious kitchen, comfortable beds, but the ocean waves crashing into the shore at your backyard is the best part. The only downside is that it is an hour drive away to go anywhere on the island...you're almost at the end of the road.
This was such a positive experience from the start. There was great communication, I knew what to expect.
The house was perfect, exactly as described. The turtles didn't disappoint, we got to see them at the little beach a few houses down.
It was so nice to be out of the city, away from all of the high traffic areas. We absolutely loved our time here. There were 9 of us and we didn't feel cramped at all. Everything was great!
This was an incredible place to stay. The proximity to Aki's Beach where we got to see multiple sea turtles sunning themselves on the sand and also in the water was amazing!
