Wake up steps from Lake of Egypt in a newly built 500-sq-ft cabin stocked for easy adventure. Two 10' kayaks, blazing-fast fiber Wi-Fi and a ready-to-light fire pit make relaxing simple.
We have tried to think of everything you could need and have it available. Read our reviews and know how special our cabin is.

We have supplied two kayaks to further your adventures in Southern Illinois. There are many lakes to explore.
As you step inside, you'll be greeted by a cozy living room, perfect for unwinding after a day of adventure. Many activities await. Hiking, kayaking, wineries, boating and fishing. The fully stocked kitchen, complete with a stove, cappuccino machine, toaster oven, coffee pot, oven, refrigerator, and all the necessary appliances, allows you to indulge in home-cooked meals or grill up a delicious feast on the outdoor grill.

Unwind in the comfort of your own space, with amenities like free Wi-Fi, a smart TV, and a full sized washing machine and dryer at your disposal. Venture out and explore the nearby Shawnee National Forest, just a short walk away, or discover the tranquil beauty of the Lake of Egypt, just a 1-minute stroll from your doorstep. For a day of hiking and exploration, Ferne Clyffe State Park is just an 8-minute drive away.

We have a Dollar general, Goreville food Mart and an Acees in Goreville.
We have plenty of free parking for your boat and trailer. We are close to many attractions, but far enough away to fill secluded from the chaos of life. Bird watchers will be happy. So many beautiful birds to listen to as well.
With an occasional peacock strolling down the street.
Grab your favorite book and find a cozy place to relax. We have the furry blanket and comfy recliner. The peace and quiet of the woods will help you find your peace again.

Hiking getaway

Beautiful and very clean cabin. Very nicely decorated with everything you can think of to make your stay there relaxing. About an hour away from Garden of the gods and 30 mins from Jackson Falls. The closest food source was in Marion with lots to choose from. We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

My husband and I are from Southern Illinois. We are surrounded by numerous family and friends. We are blessed with a beautiful home . We have been raising Yorkshire Terrier dogs for over 30 years. We have 7 grandkids that we adore. In 2023 my husband started building Carlton Cabin. The majority of the labor was done by him. I am impressed daily by his hidden talents. This year we will have been married 42 years.

Why they chose this property

If you listen quietly you can hear a woodpecker, owl, hawk or even see some glorious peacock walking down the road. Get back to nature by enjoying one of the many trails in the Shawnee National forest.

On our property you are only a few short miles from anything you may need. A neck of the lake is across the road and through a small area of woods.. The property is surrounded on all 4 sides with wildlife. Red foxes live across the street in a cave under an over hanging bluff. We are frequently visited by at least 10 deer. Last night I noticed that there were 4 new babies.
We look forward to hearing about all the wild animals that you see during your stay.

What makes this property unique

While staying at our cabin, you will feel like you are in the middle of nowhere, but you are actually rather close to many cities close by. We provide everything you could need to have an enjoyable stay. The kitchen is extremely stocked and you will be pleased with all your coffee options.
My wish is that you feel at home as soon as you step in the door. Every room, every minor detail has been thought about.
We just ask for you to respect our cabin. No smoking indoors.
We look forward to sharing our cabin and our Little Egypt destinations with you.
You have many options in our surrounding area. If you would like a suggestion, please let me know. I will gladly share with you my favorite things to do.
We have an amazing fire pit area with pre-cut wood. You bring the hot dogs, marshmallows and Hershey bars. Tons of fun memories await you and your family.
