Come explore what Southern Illinois has to offer for your next family getaway! The "GATE HOUSE AT THE LAKE" has it all! 3 bedrooms with 1 king bed (master), 1 queen bed (2nd bedroom), 2 queen beds (brand new 3rd bedroom), 2 pull out queen sleepersofas (family room), 1.5 baths, Beautiful great room with screened in back porch, Dock with electricity, Beautiful Lake Views facing the main lake channel, Fire Pit, Wifi, Outdoor Grill, garage, Washer/Dryer, Flat Screen TV's, Fully stocked (just bring food and toiletries), all new furniture. The home is on one level with only one step to get into the home. The land is flat to the dock with no steps!!!!

The house has been freshly painted, brand new A/C, new kitchen cabinets and countertop, and new tile on the patio. New front exterior and new third bedroom are now complete in 2021!!!!!!!!!

We also rent the house directly next door which has 3 bedrooms, 1.5 baths, and sleeps 8 also (vrbo 710693)!!! And we have another home just down the street with 4 bedrooms and 2 baths (vrbo 9134691ha)! Ask about renting multiple homes for a discount!!!! All of our homes are located at the mid point of the lake. See the attached photo showing the location of all our rental homes at the lake.

Boat rentals are available around the lake. Check out https://lakeofegyptpontoonrentals.com and tell them Roman sent you!!!

Macks Marina and Egyptian Hills Marina also have boat rentals and you can launch your boat from both of them and also Pyramid Acres for a small fee.

We do provide two kayaks for each home. Please bring your own life vests as we do not provide those.

We do require a $100 Damage Deposit. This will be returned to you immediately upon our cleaning team reporting no damage, no excess cleaning, and no excess trash.

Standard check-in is 4:00 PM and check-out is 11:00 AM. Early check-in and late check-out may be available upon request for an additional fee and subject to availability.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

One of the beds in the double room really needsReplaced and the bedding was thin and no extra blankets easily found. Also the kitchen table has a sticky finish. And the dock is pretty weedy. Besides all that the place is nice. We really enjoyed our time there and wish it could have been longer. Paddle boards were a plus for sure. The area is very relaxing and the house has a lot of space. Watching stars at night was the best!

We had a great time. The paddle boards were a big hit with the kids. The place was clean and had tons of room. The wrap around porch was excellent for our dog. We felt the added pet fee was a bit expensive. The sunsets were absolutely amazing. The only thing I would say that was not expected was the dock area. We had our own dock, which was nice, however, there were so many weeds and so much algae we had to paddle out of the cove area in order to be able to swim. The kids swam in their life jackets. The waterfront had no beach area and there were medium sized rocks that went down into the water which made it a bit difficult getting in and out of the kayaks/paddle boards. Otherwise is was nice.

We’re especially happy the wraparound porch was great for your dog, and those lake sunsets really are hard to beat! We do want to clarify that the property does not advertise or have a beach area. The waterfront includes the private docks and a designated area for kayaks and paddle boards, as shown in the listing. The shoreline is natural, with rocks leading into the water. As for the weeds and algae, unfortunately, those are natural lake conditions that we cannot control. We don’t own the lake, and the conditions in the coves can change throughout the year. We certainly understand that this can affect swimming and water access. Regarding the pet fee, we understand your concern. Our pet fee is actually below average compared with similar properties in the area. The fee is primarily due to repeated issues we've experienced in the past with guests not being responsible with their pets, resulting in additional cleaning and maintenance. We appreciate your feedback and are glad you enjoyed your stay overall. We’d be happy to have you back again!

Overall great place. Just a note for the owners, it looks like rain water is flowing over and out of the gutters in the corner up by the house and keeping the deck wet there. Loved being so close to the lake and having use of the kayaks. Air worked great. We really enjoyed our weekend there.

Highly recommended spacious home with waterfront access steps away with amazing sunsets. It had all the basic needs with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Dollar General is conveniently nearby for any supplies. Lake of Egypt is centered nicely to be able to enjoy Shawnee National Forest that has so many opportunities to enjoy the most beautiful trails in Illinois. Would love to come back to take advantage of the lake for boating and fishing (stayed in March).

We were disappointed in the overall condition of the property. We had rented this home a few years ago so we knew what we were getting in terms of location and layout. While the reservation and check-in processes were seemless, the unit was not as expected in terms of general maintenance, upkeep, and cleanliness. The unit was "picked up" but was not deep cleaned between visitors. The towels and bed linens were not high quality and the number of towels was not sufficient. The condition of the deck was poor and we had to strategically place chairs over the weak boards to prevent any accidental injuries. And the grill was not usable. While on lake vacations we rely heavily on the grill as we cook nearly every meal. We ended up having to transport the grill from the nearby property that our other family members were renting. Then of course we had to transport it back. Not something we would expect to have to do when we paid over 2,000 for the week. We are not likely to book this unit, or other Heartland managed units, in the future. It's a shame too, because we love the location and the dock access for our boat. Disappointed.

Good and quick communication, especially for a holiday weekend. Setting and location were lovely and I bet it’s really nice in the summer. House was big and spacious - perfect for a big group. Everything was clean, if a little basic. There were a couple areas that needed a little maintenance.

the house could use a very good DEEP cleaning. !!.Bacon grease in a coffee cup in the cabinet!!. Floors were not clean!!Screens on the patio need repair!!!. garbage can outside had not been emptied since the last guest, which left a terrible smell !! .No mechanical issues, everything operated as it should. .Loved the view from the porch ,and inside views looking out. Beds were comfortable. Had to hand wash silverware before using!! Did not have any Dish Towels!! Would come back if these issues are taken care of !!

The house was nice and served our purpose. Everyone had a place to sleep and the living room is spacious. Kitchen is a bit small, but I was there to relax, not be a short order cook lol! The view is beautiful and the kids had fun paddling around on the provided kayaks and paddleboards.
