About this property

Comfortable Home On 3 Private Wooded Acres In The Heart Of Mount Desert Island

We built our home in 2004, cut from over 3 acres of woods in the heart of Mount Desert Island and Acadia National Park. It sits 1 mile north of Somes Sound, and is within easy reach of hiking, biking, carriage roads, boat tours, and all of the shopping and restaurants to be found in the several quaint towns on the island.

We created our space to gather and connect with family and friends, and hope that you enjoy it, too.

Our home sleeps eight easily. The master bedroom has a king bed and is located on the main floor. Two bedrooms and a full bathroom are on the 2nd floor. The kitchen is fully-appointed to help you create memorable meals; dine inside on our farmhouse table, or eat on the deck. We also maintain a lovely kitchen garden, and welcome guests to pick what they need to round out their meals - it would be a shame for fresh produce to go to waste! After a busy day of adventuring in the park, relax in the deep jacuzzi master tub, or sit by the Solo Stove fire pit and cook S'mores.
We have Free WiFi high-speed internet with Smart TVs located on the main floor and another in the basement room

Wow! What a great place. Probably the nicest house we have stayed in. The kids loved the bunk beds and we could pick our own Maine blueberries for breakfast! Would stay again anytime.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kirk's property, my only regret is that we couldn't spend more time at the house. We were optimizing for staying close to the park which was extremely convenient and enjoyed picking herbs from the garden. Would 100% stay again.

Absolutely perfect house for our family of 7 to stay in. Host was communicative and helpful, left great materials on the Acadia and Maine regions which we utilized in planning our daily adventures. Even had the perfect setup for smores in the back yard!

Wow! Truly, this was one of the best vacation homes that my family and I have stayed in. Incredibly beautiful, quiet property that allowed us easy access to the rest of the island. We had a day or two of rain that prevented us from certain activities on MDI, but my family and I were more than happy to stay, rest, and relax at the house. Fantastic hosts who went above and beyond to make our stay both comfortable and memorable. Thank you for having us!

This house is very clean. The living/kitchen/dining area was a great place to hang out with the family. The decor is like a nice cabin in the woods. The garden was beautiful, and I appreciated the ac in the sleeping areas and main living area. The basement was finished and there were plenty of legos for my son to play with as well as two gaming consoles (we didn’t use them because we did so much while we were here!) The location is great: at the center between bar harbor, Acadia, and Hadley point where we took a kayak tour for kids. Our family did so much while we were here, but still felt comfortable because we could go to the house easily and relax between all our plans. I would highly recommend this, quiet enough when you want quiet, but close enough to downtown to visit easily. Thank you for the welcome basket, that was a nice touch! Might come back the next time we visit Maine!

Wonderful house, wonderful location and wonderful hosts! My family of four (including a 2yr old and 4yr old) really enjoyed staying here. The “secret hideout” upstairs and the huge train sets were main attractions and the kids were sad to leave.

Wonderful stay! Enjoyed the inside and outside of this lovely home. Badminton on the lawn, lunch on the deck, puzzles, games, books, wii in a homey, house in the woods. Even the driveway, amongst the fall foliage, was picturesque. Kitchen, laundry and bedrooms perfect for a long, family stay.

Absolutely gorgeous property! Highly recommend staying here if you are visiting Acadia. Close to Echo Lake, Bar Harbor, and all the sites while still having the off the beaten path feel. House had tons of amenities and everything we needed for a family trip. Host was very courteous and accessible. Simply amazing!

This property’s pictures do not quite capture the amazing setting provided. The combination of hot tub and fire pit were perfect for a Fall visit. The hot tub is set in its own wooded oasis yet right by the house… truly peaceful! Owners were ultra-responsive and a pleasure to interact with. This spot and offering could not have been better!
