Barbara greeted us soon after we arrived with some warm cookies. Place was clean and just the right size for the two of us. Would recommend to others and maybe stay there again.

Hope you are home safely. Thank you for leaving the cottage in beautiful condition!
Happy Fall to you. Barbara
Two of us—my wife and I--spent nine nights at “The Captain’s Cottage” in Castine, Maine, recently. The cottage, located on a quaint, quiet in-town street, was our home base for a lovely vacation of hikes and drives around scenic Castine, Blue Hill, and Deer Isle. It was so welcoming—charming, cozy, and comfortable—and well equipped with everything we needed for our stay, plus, all that the beautiful town of Castine has to offer (a lot!) was just a picturesque stroll away. Our hostess, Barbara, who lives in the house across the lawn, provided helpful pamphlets, maps, information on the history of Castine, and advice on places to go and things to see. There was even a plate of cookies waiting for us when we arrived! She was so accommodating and thoughtful. In addition, there was a great selection of books in a revolving bookcase in the living room. We highly recommend The Captain’s Cottage; we so enjoyed our stay there.

Cozy, clean cottage
Beautifully kept cottage, well supplied. Very comfy beds. Nice shower. Owner, Barbara, lives next door and is friendly and helpful. Only negative was the tv - no cable, but Roku which we couldn’t make work. This was actually fine for us because we aren’t much for watching tv anyway. We would definitely return if the opportunity presents.

Week in Castine, ME
My husband , daughter and myself spent a wonderful week relaxing in the Captain's Cottage in Castine, ME. The cottage is spacious, well-equipped and charming. We had use of a Weber Grill for barbecuing, but on nights you don't want to cook you can get dinner at several restaurants in Castine, or drive 20 minutes to Blue Hill where there are numerous restaurants to choose from. The town of Castine is full of history, and is home to the Maine Maritime Academy. We enjoyed looking at the Wilson Museum the Historical Society and the Adams Gallery. Castine is also a little over an hour's drive from Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor.
The owner of the cottage was great! Barbara is very sweet and attentive to the needs of her guests. When we needed an extra large pot to cook our 4 lobsters in she came over with her mega-sized lobster pot for our use along with bibs and extra lobster crackers!
We would love to return someday, and would definitely recommend this delightful cottage to anyone looking to relax and discover Downeast Maine!
