Jean checked on us several times to make sure everything was fine. She has done a great job with the property. The house was clean, organized, and just great for us. Kitchen had everything we needed and plenty of room to house our family to eat together. Beds were very comfortable and it was easy to sleep. The overlook of the river is a great view. We definitely would recommend this house and will stay again.
We really enjoyed our weekend stay! It is a great location to home base for exploring NE Iowa. We enjoyed watching the barges and boats from the large deck. This was our second stay here, and the upstairs bedroom overlooking the river was nicely updated since our first stay. This is a spacious and clean home. Would definitely stay again!
Was pleasantly surprised by the house. We spent most of our time on the deck that has an amazing view of the river and bridge. Parts of the house are a little dated but it was clean and comfortable. It’s also walking distance to town. Jean was very responsive and made sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely stay here again!
House was very clean and well stocked. The view from the deck was phenomenal. Jean is a great communicator. Asked us how we were doing and responded quickly with our messages.
The property provides a great view of the Mississippi River and the bridge. There is plenty of space in the house to relax. The host is wonderful to work with.
The house is a little dated but had everything we needed and was not far from the marina and downtown. It worked well for 6 adults. Thank you. Would definitely recommend this place.
This is a great house with a beautiful view in this quaint river town. Plenty of space for 3 couples. Comfortable beds and owner promptly replied and was friendly and accommodating
Wow! One of the best views on the Mississippi River! This spacious, beautiful home had everything we needed and then some! Stunning views from nearly every room; well-stocked roomy kitchen; spacious bedrooms with wonderful mattresses; a huge deck with plenty of chairs and a table; cozy living room with comfy furniture. Wonderful hosts and prompt communication. We stayed for our annual sister’s retreat.
This property is located in a perfect place for the best views on the Mississippi River. You can walk to anywhere in town to the many shops and restaurants. The house was clean and just as described. Our family will rent here again.
We had an amazing time visiting our friends in Lansing. Communicating with Jean was very easy. She responded quickly and kindly to all of our questions. We will definitely love to stay again!!!!
We really enjoyed our stay. The house was clean, cozy and warm and the view incredible. We enjoyed seeing the sunrise over the river and watching all the bald eagles from the comfort of the living room. This was our second stay. Our first was over the Christmas Holiday when we were able to enjoy family time. We had all we needed to cook and serve meals and lots of room to play games and enjoy our time together.
Views were even more stunning than the listing. Perfectly situated for walks around town. Only drawback was the AC flow to the 2nd story. We stayed during the hottest weekend yet and were unable to make use of the extra rooms due to the temps upstairs. Other than that, lovely place to stay!
The view was amazing of the river, the bluffs, and the eagles. The deck was perfect in the morning and shaded in the hot sun. It was walking distance to everything in town. The living room, kitchen and dining was spacious and had 2 tables. The downstairs shower had a rain shower head and a fold down bench if needed. The upstairs had a bath/shower combo perfect for littles. The photo book was fun to see how the house looked before she started renovations. Jean was very easy to communicate with. We enjoyed our time there and already are planning another stay!
We spent Friday through Tuesday relaxing at your Lansing vacation home. The weather was just right for hanging out on the deck and driving along the river. The house was spacious, uncluttered, and perfect for watching our favorite teams play football, volleyball, and basketball. We will most definitely consider returning!
Very homey feel to the place. They have different spaces for people to just hang out and do different things. Games were played, movies were watched, even art projects were done! Easy to walk to town and hiking was done up to Mount Hosmer for another beautiful view! The beds are very comfortable. Kitchen was great, even has a new washer and dryer. This has a beautiful view of the MIssissippi river. It was fun to watch the new bridge being built. We gravitated towards the large windows to see what was being done throughout our stay! I can't wait to come again and see what a difference the seasons make in this beautiful setting.

Could’ve been better
Didn’t know anyone lived in the house. We didn’t come in contact with them but that would’ve been nice to know prior to booking. House smells musty. Hair from someone else in the bathroom and on towels. Place to sleep.

It's unfortunate that your stay at the house didn't meet your expectations, especially on a weekend when the view from there with the fall colors is so beautiful. I haven't noticed a musty smell but thanks for letting me know that you did. The heat has been running so that may have taken care of it but I will also open up the windows for while.

Outdated home needs update
Carpet in kitchen and bathrooms, smells musty, no screens were on windows, countertops in bathrooms and toilets were oddly low if your 5’ 6” or taller, you will feel like a giant hunched over.

Tim, I am sorry that you were disappointed with your stay, we too were disappointed with it given your decision to bring 3 dogs despite our very clear no pet policy. Regarding the carpets, they were steam cleaned just before your first stay in July. Your bringing the dogs on this return visit has made it necessary for us to do it again. Regarding the window screens, you asked about them during your first visit so we put them all in before your return. And regarding the low toilet and sink, it is true, they seem low to me too. We recently purchased the house. Renovating the upstairs bathroom is high on our priority list but, until then, we hope that guests will find that our handicap accessible bathroom, including walk-in shower, on the first floor will meet their needs and the beautiful view of the Mississippi river and surrounding hills of the Driftless area will compensate for the fact that it will take us some time to do all of the updates we plan to do.
CAUTION, do not press on the balcony railing, its ready to collapse, you will fall 20 feet, the entire deck has a severe pitch away from house, it feels unstable and urgently needs replacement. The home is very dated with carpet everywhere. The toilets and countertops are very low and also need replacement.

Tim, your comments here are both misleading and disappointing. As you know, the balcony was thoroughly checked as part of the home inspection done just a few months ago and it was deemed perfectly safe. And regarding the interior decor, etc., nothing about it should have been a surprise since you sent your representative to tour/inspect the house inside and out before you confirmed your first booking. And though you write these comments about that stay now, you have already returned for a second stay, for a full week during which nothing about these or any concerns were communicated to us.
