"Star Gazer" cottage on Lakeside Matteson Lake. All sports with a dock!

Peace and quiet on all sports Matteson Lake. Enjoy your time at our lakeside retreat. Whether it's some family time you are looking for or some time away with friends, this is the cottage for you. This two bedroom, one bath has sleeping for 8! This home is situated on spring fed, all sports Matteson Lake. Our property has the advantage of a shallow entrance for swimming for all ages. We offer free high speed internet, 2 kayaks, and a 4 person paddle boat! Whether you want to swim, boat, fish, or relax around the fire pit, this home has many options. There are smart tv's in the bedrooms, along with one in the living room. The kitchen features a self cleaning oven and a dishwasher. There is a smart lock for easy access and personalized security. We have a washer and dryer in the unit, along with 2 window air conditioners. We offer travel size shampoo and soap. Smoking is allowed outdoors. The parking on this lot is 15' x 32' at the smallest point. It can fit 2 small vehicles or one truck or large SUV. The smart TV's have limited over-the-air stations, but the tv's are programmed to reset after every guest, allowing you to log into your own streaming services or Tubi, Freevee, etc. are available and free. There are no cable stations offered. The outdoor area has its private dock and swimming area. Two kayaks and a four person paddle-boat, along with life- jackets are provided. The dock will be in place from mid May to mid September. The outdoor furniture will be stored from November to May. In the winter, a snow shovel is in the barn. If we snow that stops 24 hours before your stay, we'll try to have the driveway and walks shoveled.

Please gather all linens and start the laundry. Pods are near the wash machine.
Please take the trash to the outside receptacle. Insure all windows and doors are closed and locked.
Please set the ac to 70 or the heat to 60. Please turn off bedroom air conditioner.
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
We love our pets, but please pick up their messes, inside and outside, place in the outside receptacle. Please do not allow any pets on the furniture
There will be additional fees for damage to the furniture, excessive messes, or other damaged, stained, missing, or torn items.
Due to our cleaning schedule, late check-out is not an option without prior approval. We do require $75/hour due to back-charges by housekeeping.

This place has everything you need for a relaxing stay! We appreciated the kayaks and paddleboat to enjoy the lake and the kitchen supplies (in labeled cupboards) made it easy to find what we needed to make meals. The lake is super quiet and the perfect place to enjoy family time. We brought our dog and she felt right at home.

We truly enjoyed this super cute cottage for a week of fishing on Matteson Lake! Very clean and the home is well stocked with ALL incidentals (we need to pack less next time we visit!). Bonus -- great open communication with our host, Bill. The lake is quiet and the neighbors are very friendly and respectful. We would highly recommend this rental -- and plan on visiting it again next year.

For us this was the right place, clean, well stocked, organized and nicely decorated. Well kept up. Nice view of the lake, quiet and kayaks and paddle boat provided. Lord willing we will try to be back.

Everything was good, the house needs some TLC to make it great. The lake was awesome, the amenities that come with the lake looked good but we didn’t use them. Overall our stay was good.

The house was roomy and even though it rained part of the time we could be inside with a great view of the lake. Very quiet during the week. Furniture was comfortable. Since I was allowed to have dogs, I brought quilts from home to cover couches. It was great and no worries. I plan to come back to this house. My dog and I took walks all around the neighborhood. The house heated up easily when needed. Didn’t need a/c.

We had a wonderful stay at Stargazer. It is a comfortable house with a well supplied kitchen. There is a dishwasher. The coffee maker is a flexbrew, so bring your favorite pods (I recommend Maxwell House - seriously, just try it!) or ground coffee for a whole pot. The beds are firm and supportive, perfect in my opinion - and not memory foam, thankfully! We didn't try the pullouts in the couches, but the couches are comfy. The living room is a great size for visiting with plenty of seating. Outside, we enjoyed the paddle boat, kayaks, and fire pit. Matteson lake is quiet and peaceful. Because I am disabled, I want to highlight accessibility. I use a walker and sometimes a wheelchair. The newly finished sidewalk and parking were very nice and made it easier to get in and out of the house. There is one step up into the kitchen and one step down to the living room. I asked about this ahead of time - one step is doable for me. There are hard floors throughout the house with easy transitions. In the bedroom, we moved the bed to the wall to make room for my walker. The door to the bedroom is narrow, but my walker collapses vertically to get through smaller doorways (a smaller aluminum walker would fit). The bathroom is too small for my rollator walker, but the sink (and long arms) made a good hand hold, so that was not an issue. I travel with a shower chair and an aluminum walker. These items make almost any shower handicap accessible. This shower has a lower shower pan which was

Nice little getaway on the lake. It was so convenient to be able to bring our dogs with us. They enjoyed playing in the water and going on walks. My husband and I relaxed while fishing and cruising around the lake on the kayaks. Such a beautiful and peaceful place for us to just getaway from it all.

We loved our week at the Stargazer cottage. Bill's communication was great and the cottage was quaint and clean. We spent most of our week outside near or on the water. I wish the lake was cleaner but I can't fault the owner for that. The water is a bit murky and muddy at the bottom but the temps were crazy warm. My only suggestion inside is just to provide a few nice, large skillets for breakfast prep. Thanks for letting us enjoy your lake cottage!
