About this property

Serene 70's Retro Retreat

A Retro Mountain Escape Like No Other The Serene 70s Retreat Near the San Antonio Hot Springs Tucked beneath tall pines and big New Mexico skies, the Serene 70s Retreat is a quiet mountain cabin from a slower time. Built in 1973 and resting on over 4.5 acres at the edge of the Santa Fe National Forest, this is the kind of place you come to when you need stillness, space, and a little reminder that life doesn’t have to move so fast. You’re about an hour north of Albuquerque, but it feels like a different world out here. Wake up to sunlight filtering through the trees. Soak your bones in the San Antonio Hot Springs. Wander into the wide-open beauty of Valles Caldera or cast a line at Fenton Lake. Whether you're looking for peace or a little wild adventure, this place has the rhythm just right.

What’s Waiting for You Here, it’s not about doing everything. It’s about slowing down enough to feel something. Lounge in hammocks under a sky that seems to go on forever Curl up by the original fireplace with a record playing Sit by the fire pit with a drink and a blanket as stars appear one by one Breathe in the mountain air and listen—really listen—to how quiet it gets out here Inside, you’ll find warm wood finishes, vintage charm, and just enough modern comfort to let you settle in. Outside, it’s nature, plain and simple—and you’ll feel it in every step, every breeze, every quiet morning.

Stay Awhile This cabin wasn’t made for rushing in and out. It was built for lingering. Stay a weekend. Stay a week. Stay until you forget what day it is. Your days might look something like this: Mornings on the deck with coffee and birdsong Afternoons spent soaking, hiking, or reading in the shade Evenings by the fire, talking or not talking at all Nights full of stars and quiet dreams Need more time? Ask us about monthly rates and make this your unplugged home away from home.

Work From the Woods Who says you can’t get things done in the middle of nowhere? With Starlink internet, you can work, write, Zoom, or dream up your next big idea—without traffic, noise, or distractions. Set up the mobile outdoor desk on the deck or under the trees. Answer emails while deer wander by. Watch your creativity stretch out and settle in.

A Good Fit For Writers, artists & creatives needing quiet Remote workers looking for a view Couples, solo travelers, or families with pups Anyone craving calm, connection, or just a break from the noise

What to Know Before You Come Parking: Space for 4 vehicles—please park on the left side of the drive to keep the way clear Roads: It gets remote. In winter or heavy rain, 4WD and chains are smart

Pets: Welcome with a $30/night cleaning fee per pet. Keep ‘em leashed—wildlife like deer, elk, and bobcats are regular neighbors Safety: Three outdoor security cameras and a Ring doorbell offer peace of mind Smoking: Not allowed anywhere on the property. Violations = $500 fine + possible eviction.

Off the Beaten Path The road gets bumpy, and the power might flicker once in a while—but that’s part of the charm. You didn’t come all this way for perfection. You came for something real. Out here, you’re not just visiting. You’re returning—to something simple, spacious, and good for the soul.

Book When You’re Ready Whether it’s a weekend reset, a month of remote work, or something in between, the Serene 70s Retreat Near the San Antonio Hot Springs is a space to breathe, rest, explore, and remember what matters. When you’re ready, we’ll be here.

Cozy cabin with enough amenities to make your trip easy but to feel like you’re getting away from daily life. The hosts were very helpful before and during our stay. Would definitely take my family back to enjoy the nature around and on the property

Sulphur Springs Weekend

This place is amazing! Not to far from Albuquerque. A perfect place to enjoy nature for the weekend. Peaceful location too... Cabin has a full kitchen set up to make them homemade meals. Full bathroom was a nice thing to have up there too. Pet friendly was a plus!! We are definitely going back to this place in the future.

Welcome from the colorful Jemez Mountains of New Mexico! My wife and I have a love for aviation, nature, and the kind of off-the-beaten-path adventure that leads to unforgettable memories. Our aviation backgrounds have taught us the importance of precision and reliability, which we carry over into hosting—we want every guest to feel completely cared for.

We’ve traveled the world, but nothing compares to the magic we’ve found right here in New Mexico. Hosting allows us to share a slice of that magic with fellow travelers—people who crave fresh air, starry skies, and a cozy space to reconnect with themselves and nature.

We’re proud to offer the Serene 70s Retreat, a place where you can unplug, get inspired, and maybe even rediscover your sense of wonder. Whether you're soaking in nearby hot springs or just lounging in a hammock under pine trees, we hope our cabin feels like a breath of fresh mountain air.

Why they chose this property

The Jemez Mountains are one of New Mexico’s best-kept secrets—and we’re lucky to call them home. We fell in love with this area for its peacefulness, rugged beauty, and the incredible variety of outdoor adventures right at your doorstep.

Our cabin sits on 4.5 private acres that border the Santa Fe National Forest, offering immediate access to trails, wildlife, and that hard-to-find sense of true seclusion. Yet, you're still just 60 miles from Albuquerque. Whether you’re heading to the San Antonio Hot Springs, exploring Valles Caldera, or fishing at Fenton Lake, every corner of this neighborhood has something special to offer.

It’s the kind of place where mornings start with deer sightings and mountain air, and nights end under an ocean of stars. We chose this neighborhood because it invites you to slow down, stay longer, and live a little differently.

What makes this property unique

The Serene 70s Retreat isn’t just a place to stay—it’s an experience rooted in nostalgia, nature, and creativity. Built in 1973, the cabin is a retro-inspired time capsule with cozy comforts, modern amenities, and a whole lot of soul. It’s surrounded by towering trees, visited often by local wildlife, and set far enough from the noise to let you truly relax.

Whether you're curling up by the vintage fireplace, lounging in hammocks, or taking a Zoom call with the Jemez Mountains as your backdrop (thanks, Starlink), our retreat is designed for both rest and inspiration. From the fire pit to the forest trails, every feature here encourages you to disconnect from the chaos and reconnect with what matters.

It’s perfect for remote workers, creatives, solo travelers, small families, and anyone who appreciates a slower rhythm. This isn’t just a mountain cabin—it’s a sanctuary, a creative haven, and a little slice of retro heaven in the woods.
