We enjoyed our stay in this peaceful home. The location was great for us to explore sites in the Jemez Mountains and the Valles Caldera National Preserve. The home was clean and comfortable and offered everything we needed.
Nice location in the trees and a great central location to outdoor activities.

They had a bunch of plug in air fresheners to try to mask the smells. One of the bedrooms smelled strongly of dog. The water smells very strongly of sulfur. We had to keep the windows open to keep it aired out. There is a filtered water faucet in the bathroom that gives just a trickle of water to brush your teeth. And they provided a jug of filtered water in the kitchen. However the coffee maker, glasses and the rest of the dishes were filthy. We just didn't use anything in the kitchen which was a real bummer. The power in the area went out the first day and lasted well into the night. There were no lanterns, flashlights or candles that we could find. Apparently the power goes out fairly frequently. So, come prepared with back up chargers for your phones and some flashlights or try to find a place that has a generator.TV was good and there was one nice chair. Bed was comfortable. You will lose phone service on the way to the property so be sure to download the directions.
Very nice home surrounded by gorgeous Ponderosa. Very quiet, relaxing and comfortable. The wrap around deck is great to hang out on when not hiking numerous fantastic hiking trails nearby. We enjoyed our stay very much.
This cabin was as described in the listing. Located on a hill and surrounded by beautiful pine trees, it is serene and the wrap-around porch is the perfect place for coffee, meals, and relaxing as the sun sets behind the mountains. The bed was comfortable as was the living room. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking lots of meals. The local convenience store was minutes away, which was a nice surprise. Jemez Springs town was about 10 minutes down the mountain. Numerous hiking trails were nearby (the hiking was incredible), including one at the very end of the road that was part of Valles Caldera National Preserve. Host Henry was vey nice and easy to work with. He even brought us water when the purifier wasn’t working properly. We stayed for a week and enjoyed it immensely.
The location is beautiful, quiet, and secluded—perfect if you’re looking for privacy and a peaceful getaway. The cabin itself was cozy and comfortable.Unfortunately, several issues impacted our stay. The water had a very strong sulfur odor, which we were not expecting. The bathroom also did not appear to be thoroughly cleaned upon arrival. We found hair in the shower drain and around the faucet, which made us uncomfortable using the bathroom amenities. We also planned to cook breakfast and were surprised that cooking oil was not provided, which would have been helpful for guests planning to prepare meals. We contacted both the host and VRBO regarding these concerns. While the sulfur odor was explained as being related to the area’s water source, our concerns about cleanliness were largely unaddressed. The issues were described as “minor,” but we did not consider the bathroom cleanliness to be minor. A clean bathroom is a basic expectation when booking a vacation rental, and its condition significantly affected our comfort during the stay. After checking out, we attempted to discuss the issues further and requested a partial accommodation based on our experience, but we never received any follow-up response.Overall, the property offers a beautiful, private setting, but improvements to cleanliness, communication, and guest support would greatly improve the guest experience.
