About this property
Charming Eastside duplex
Enjoy a comfortable stay at our conveniently-located upper-floor apartment on the border of UWM campus. Features lots of natural light, original woodwork, hardwood floors, french doors, coved ceilings, a balcony off the living room, and solar-powered central air conditioning. The kitchen opens into a bright sunroom which could be a 3rd bedroom for longer stays.
We (David and Janet) live on the 1st floor. Off-street parking (for 1 car) is usually available in our garage but most guests choose to park on the street directly in front of the house as the garage space is tight. There is a 1 hr (seldom enforced) parking limit between 8am and 4pm though we will reimburse guests for any fines received for exceeding this limit. A permit (of $1 per night plus booking fee) is required for overnight parking. Ask us about parking options before or after booking.
We can offer use of our washing machine and dryer for longer stays. Contact us about this.
Lake Park and Lake Michigan are just a few blocks away. The shops and restaurants on Downer Avenue and the Downer Theater are four blocks. Buses to downtown and elswhere go from UWM campus just steps away. Bublr bikes and Lime scooters also available nearby.

About the host
Hosted by David and Janet
After living in New York City, Washington DC, and London (where David is from), the next world-famous city for us to call home was Milwaukee (where Janet is from)! As recent empty nesters, we now look forward to welcoming other travelers to Milwaukee, and offer you a comfortable home to return to after your days at Milwaukee's famous music festivals, the lakefront, work meetings, family visits, or whatever brings you here.
Why they chose this property
Just blocks from beautiful Lake Michigan, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and a variety of local shops including a grocery store, pharmacy, art-house theatre, bookstore, bakery, coffee shop, and variety of good restaurants, we love our quiet, walkable urban neighborhood on Milwaukee's Upper East Side. Downtown Milwaukee -- for theatre, museums, more restaurants and shops, Bucks games of concerts at Fiserve Forum, and the intermodel train and bus station -- are just a 15 minute drive or bus trip away.
What makes this property unique
We know that one of the main things you are looking for in your rental is a good night rest! That's why we've invested in high-quality beds and bedding, extra pillows and blankets, air conditioning, and room-darkening shades to ensure you sleep well. A portable crib is also available to ensure any little ones traveling with you sleep safely and comfortably, too.
Before you turn in, wind down in the reclining sectional sofa with an episode of your favorite Nextflix show on the large HD TV. And, in the morning, brew up complimentary coffee and teas with sugar, honey, half-n-half, etc. to get your day off to a good start.
The sunlit kitchen is well-equipped with pots and pans, utensils, dishes, and appliances, including a microwave for quick meals and a dishwasher for easy clean up. These amenities, together with a grocery store and bakery within walking distance, make it easy to eat in. Or, take a short and pleasant stroll to the local coffee shop, a variety of restaurants, local bookshop, and art-house theatre. There's a pharmacy nearby, too.
The kitchen open ups to a lovely sun room -- a great place to have your morning coffee or get some work done. The sunroom can also be converted into a 3rd bedroom for longer stays.
A free off-street parking space is usually available in garage shared with owners. But as the garage space is tight most guests prefer to park on the street directly in front of the house. There is a seldom enforced 1 hour parking limit between 8am and 4pm on weekdays (no limit on weekends) though we will reimburse guests for fines exceeding this limit. A permit ($1 per night plus booking fee) is required for overnight parking. Ask us for details.
On-site laundry (in shared basement laundry room) is also available for guests staying for more that one week.
We, the owners, David and Janet, live in the lower duplex. We offer you complete privacy in the upper unit, while being ready at hand to answer any questions you may have.
