Adventure House: Fully Stocked Kitchen 5 mins from Michigan Tech
Located across the bridge from Michigan Tech and only a few miles from beaches and trails, you'll have access to all of your interests here. It's a great home base for exploring the UP or treating your student to a home cooked meal.
The main floor has a comfortable living room, eating area, and a fully functioning kitchen with additional seating. A side entrance conveniently opens to the laundry room and bathroom with shower.
Upstairs has three bedrooms. Two have Queen size beds and one has trundle beds that could be pushed together for a short King. Each bed has a memory foam topper, plush pillows and either a Smart TV or a TV with an Amazon Fire Stick attached. Window air conditioning units are installed during the summer months.
**Please note** We are located along Lincoln Dr (US-41) and the snowmobile trail. I would hate to lose your business because of it, but I would rather make sure you are happy with your stay. If you are a very light sleeper, other accommodations might be better suited for your needs. The front bedroom has a sound machine and during the summer, a window air conditioning unit that can help with some white noise.

Great place to stay while we visited our son at Tech over Easter weekend. There was plenty of room and all the necessities we needed in the kitchen as we made an early Easter dinner.
We came to the area for a family wedding and the Adventure House was the perfect location! It was 5 minutes away from all of our activities and it was a great place to stay!
The house is wonderful, great location for our travels. Comfortable beds, nice linens and well stocked. Bonus with great ice maker. We will return again.
A very comfy home with a few spider friends. They didn’t affect our fun as they were fairly quiet weaving their webs. We had a wonderful time there. Would recommend the Adventure House!
This place is perfect! 5mins from MTU (Houghton), walking distance to downtown Hancock. The house is charming! Kitchen is well stocked. Hosts are very kind and informative. I can’t recommend this enough especially if you are an MTU family looking for a place to stay for orientation/visits etc.
We LOVED this house, five minutes after getting in the house my wife was already making plans to come back! The beds were comfy, the house was cozy and so clean. Thank you!!
We stayed at this home while visiting Michigan Tech with our son, and it was the perfect spot for our trip. The house was clean, well-maintained, and had everything we needed to feel comfortable. The location was ideal—close to campus and convenient to everything in the area. It was a great home base for our visit, and we’d absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend!
We enjoyed our stay at the Hancock house. We were visiting our daughter at Michigan Tech and this property was about 5-10 minutes away. House is older but was great for a weekend family trip. Kitchen had all you would need plus lots of spices if you wanted to cook. Beds were comfy. It was across the street from a snowmobile trail but the noise did not bother us in the house. There were a few games, puzzles and books if you want some entertainment. The Mexican place in town was good. Thanks!

Houghton House
This house was in the Hancock area. The neighborhood was a bit sketchy. Unfortunately, it did not have central air but there were window air conditioners in the bedrooms upstairs. There was a musty smell in the entrace and the carpet was stained. Some of the furnishings were broke or stained as well. We could haved live with all of that. There was plenty of room for everyone. The biggest problem was, it wasn't clean. I truly believe it was never cleaned at all after the last guests left. The beds were not made and the sheets were still in the washer. The basket of dirty towels was full when we arrived. The bathroom upstairs was filthy! There was hair in the sink, like from someone shaving. There was also hair on the toilet! We had to clean it ourselves before we could use it. Nasty!!!

About the host

Why they chose this property
Justin and Grace live downstate in Grand Rapids, MI but maintain a passion for the UP. Justin grew up in Houghton and his family still resides there. They help us maintain the home and can stop by for urgent needs.
What makes this property unique
We bought the house so we would have a place to stay to visit family and also share with our siblings and extended family when they're in town. We love it as a starting point for our adventures like hiking trails that lead to beautiful views, exploring ruins, swimming in waterfalls, and camping along Lake Superior. We come up about once each season and have exciting plans for the house. We hope you enjoy your stay and are comfortable.
