Best spot on the island

If you want privacy in the most beautiful spot on the island this is your place. Definitely out of the way meaning nothing is convenient from there but if you plan well and supply yourselves you will never want to leave. Our family loved it and the house was beautiful as well. We will definitely return

Mesmerizing views

The drive to the villa was exciting and memorable. Small roads that follow the coast line with flowers and the local goats and donkeys to keep you on your toes. When you think you can’t drive any further and round the corner there a nice flat drive way for you to park. The gate opens up to an incredible outdoor setting areas with the pool looking over the point of the east end.If you’re looking for peace and quiet and little to no traffic this is your place. A little out of the way but worth the adventure to get there.

Extraordinary view that you do not want to leave!

Stunning property that has all that is needed for guests to have a wonderful time on island. Cooling sea breezes on the many spaces to sit, relax and connect. Wildlife, birds, sea turtles are everywhere. We explored most days around the island and found the location, although more remote than other areas of the island (which is what we wanted), convenient to all area beaches. Great time filled with wonderful memories! Thank you for sharing your property.

Best Vacation Ever

If you are looking for a remote, beautiful location, this is the place. This villa is amazing. The main house has a great kitchen and living area. The master suite has the best shower ever if you like showering with a screen as the ceiling. The pool and hot tub were used every day. The three other bedrooms are lovely as well. One night I even slept on the deck to be closer to nature. The beaches in the area are picturesque. Trunk Bay Beach was our favorite. The property manager, Athena, is a delight and very helpful. KM, the maintenance guy, is truly a kind and good human being. If I return to St. John, I will definitely rent this house again. It was an honor and privilege to be able to be a guest in such a beautiful and peaceful house.

Absolute Perfection!

We recently were able to enjoy a fabulous week at the Gin-de Mer on St John. It was our first trip to the island and we can’t wait to go back! This beautiful villa had much to do with our enjoyment. It is perfectly set up for a vacation rental - large common great room, private bedrooms (and baths), fully equipped kitchen, covered outdoor eating area, large pool and hot tub and the most spectacular outdoor space on the island! The outdoor spaces feature several sitting areas to enjoy your morning coffee, evening cocktail or sky gazing at night. The wrap around view is breathtaking! Our family of 5 agrees this was our best vacation yet!

Little slice of paradise!

Casa Cielo is the perfect place if you are looking for a peaceful getaway. If you are looking to avoid crowds and sleep with windows open bearing crickets and feeling ocean breezes this is the place for you. The outdoor space is truly fantastic. The pool was perfect. The hot tub, while more of a “warm tub” was lovely for watching sunsets. The hammock was superb. The grill worked flawlessly. We saw many turtles right from the balcony. The large arched screen doors gave such a nice ambiance to the house. Previous reviews mentioned some problem with the ice maker however our freezer was full of ice and it continued to be made all week. Our only small complaint would be that one night the bedroom felt a little stuffy so we tried to close the windows and use the AC which was not successful. The wall unit kept kicking off and would not maintain temperature. As I said, most nights the breezes were excellent but at this price point working AC would be a nice option. Property manager Athena was super responsive the questions and very helpful. Know what you’re getting by staying in the east end - it’s at least a 20 minute drive in bumpy roads to literally anything, but if you’re looking for serenity and peace you will 100% find it here!!

Gorgeous Property and Locatiion

The views are amazing. It is about a 45 min drive from Cruz Bay, but once you get there, you won't want to leave. It's breathtaking. The pool is great and the kitchen has all the amenities. No hammock as pictured, but tons of comfortable furniture to suit the various times of day. Figuring out all the lighting and locations was somewhat challenging, but we got it down by the end of the week. Hanson Bay beach is only about a 10 min drive and enjoyable. For a donation, there are chairs, picnic tables, kayaks and paddle boards. The only disappointment was the search for 4 bedrooms produced this property when there were only 3 and price is for 3. We chose it comparing it to other 4 br options. When contacting the property manager it was explained the wording states 4th is extra. We all reread and it's not clear. We were willing to pay for tge 4th, but unfortunately, the 4th was not even an option since it was under repair. Two of us adult women had to share a bed for the week.

Location, location, location...but villa was lacking

Gorgeous views from outdoor areas, especially pool, I have limited characters for the review so I will focus mostly on negatives.The views didn't make up for lacking areas of the villa at this price point.Kitchen was large and easy to cook in.Beds were comfortable and a/c was great. The negatives: expectations for this $$$: wash/dry, furnishings in good condition, etc.Patio dining set is gorgeous, high end as are some of the chairs located on the lower patio.But several chairs around the pool had faded ripped cushions, one chair was broken and would practically tip over if you leaned back in it.One umbrella was broken and had large rips so could not be used.The other was very faded and ready to tear. Bathrooms have rusted hardware and everything is old/dated/worn. Toilet seat looked to be 20 years old w/yellowing all over it and one showerhead had about 70% of holes no H20 coming out. Ledge in shower was old, rotting wood. No window coverings; so bedrooms were visible to anyone, especially coming down the stairs. Owner had notes for using A/C wisely, but 2 bedrooms have slatted wooden doors so outside air comes in. No working icemaker; fridge took about 6 hours to make ice - we bought bags. Lots of small broken appliances that should be replaced or taken out. No large stock pot and almost all cookware needs replacing. Hot tub jets don't work. Bedroom/baths are what I would expect in a low end villa. For this $, w/d should be available for guest use, not just owner .

The house is amazing! The patios and decks and lanai are huge. We loved the pool and hot tub. Lots of privacy .Favorite spot was the outdoor table under cover so you can sit there in the shade and if it rains. Rained a bit almost every day for short spurts.The kitchen is large and well equipped. The drive out from Cruz (where you get off the ferry) is a bit of a hike and bumpy, but that's just St John.The only thing I question is why the main bedroom which is on the main floor is closed off unless you have 8 guests or pay more. It is the nicest suite and right on the same floor as the main house. If there's only 2 guests, I would prefer that and close off the bottom 3 bedrooms.Athena was wonderful to talk to and very reponsive. We would definitly recommend this place!!

Casa Cielo

We have been to St. John several times and have stayed at some very nice homes. Casa Cielo certainly has become our favorite and we plan to return. The East End is the less visited part of the island yet is closer to some of the better hiking trails of St John (Rams Head, Brown Bay and Johnny Horn Trails) in addition to excellent snorkeling spots at Hansen Beach, N and S Haulover Bay and Salt Pond area. Although you are situated in a relatively remote location on this island you are residing in your virtual oasis on a cliff with 270-degree views of the water and constant ocean breezes as you lounge by the pool or on the spacious outdoor living areas. It was so comfortable that we enjoyed most of our evenings grilling and cooking at home which had a well-equipped kitchen opened to living and dining rooms. Coral Bay is only 15 minutes away and has several nice casual places to eat as well as a fairly decent grocery store. All the bedrooms had AC. Jay and Athena ,the wonderful caretakers at Casa Cielo live close by and were immediately available yet certainly respected your privacy. You will not be disappointed but you will need your jeep. ENJOY!

Paradise

We stayed at Casa Cielo with a group of 6 friends, and absolutely loved our stay so much we didn’t want to leave. The house is gorgeous and pictures don’t even do it justice. The outdoor area is huge and you see water views everywhere, it’s a great place to unwind and take in the moment. We cooked a few times, the kitchen is well stocked with tons of pots, pans, glasses, and spices. Everything you need to feel like home. We took the short walk down to the canoes they offer and enjoyed going over to Hansen Bay with them. It was nice that they were so accessible whenever you wanted to do that. Athena and Jay are amazing, always there when you had a question or needed them. Communication could not have been easier, and they were so helpful with tips. The house is on a bluff on the East End, and is a 45 minute very hilly drive. We didn’t mind this as we prefer quiet non touristy areas, but it is good to note if you are looking to go to town often. Coral Bay is only 20 minutes with great restaurants! I highly recommend this villa, you will not be disappointed!!

Heaven

Beautiful place and neighborhood. The house is positioned to get the trade winds in some places and shade elsewhere. Athena and Jay were very friendly and responsive and I also got some help from a neighbor for a dead battery. The private beach is a nice bonus. No reservations staying here again although I would advise arriving before dark if u can if you’re not familiar with the area which we fortunately were

Really Beautiful Property

We’ve stayed on St John several times. This place is the best. I don’t know how you can beat it. A really nice bonus is that you can walk to a private cove which is excellent for snorkeling. We hope to return again and again. Thank you for letting us rent this crazy awesome place.

Amazing

The property was well kept and clean. The view was amazing. A short ride takes you to a market, beaches and restaurants. A nice breeze definitely helped with the lack of A/C in the main house. I would definitely recommend this property to families or couples.

Perfect week in paradise

We have been to St John several times over the past 10 years and this was by far our favorite house. The outdoor space was fabulous with plenty of sun and shade. Wonderful views, great pool and hot tub. The drive to the house was challenging and we would have been happy to stay at the house and occasionally spend a day at Hansen Beach!!!

Wonderful isolation and a million dollar view

The property was amazing and as described. Excellent accommodations and very attentive property managers. We had a minor issue upon arrival and Athena & Jay had it quickly sorted. The pool area is amazing - a cup of coffee and watching the sun rise over the bay from the pool was my daily highlight. The bedrooms get nice and cold with the AC but it takes a little work with the windows to get enough air flow through the main living room. The east end has a wonderful locals vibe away from the heavier tourism at Cruz Bay. One piece of advice for first timers...try and arrive in the daylight as finding the house for the first time can be tricky in the dark. Would definitely return. J.Word

Heaven on the east end

This house was extraordinarily beautiful. My only warned ngs would be that there is no washer and dryer and they dis not want to let us use the master bedroom which is the most beautiful bedroom unless we paid more. I would ask for the master and bring enough clothes without having to wash. Otherwise it is a magnificent location

What attracted us immediately to Casa Cielo and the East End of St. John was the quiet and the privacy. The proximity to the sea, several wonderful beaches and great snorkeling made this a perfect location to escape from our busy lives in the states.

What makes this property unique

Casa Cielo offers a spacious and comfortable place to relax. With our large multi level decks offering expansive views of the Caribbean and St. John, you can swim in our salt water pool while star gazing, and find any number of secluded shady spots for catching up on your reading or napping.

There is a covered outdoor dining area, or enjoy our more formal indoor dining space. The great room is very comfortably furnished to accommodate all guests. The kitchen is large, fully equipped and will please any gourmet chef.
The Master Suite (for 7-8 guests) offers a claw=foot tub and garden outside shower.
One 500 sq. ft. bedroom suite is complete with a small kitchenette and private lanai. This suite has a full indoor bath, and a private outdoor shower.
Each of the other two 300 sq. ft. bedrooms have their own full bath, and they share an outdoor seating area overlooking the gardens and Hansen Bay.

The Great Room includes an extensive reading library for the guest who wants 'me time,' and plenty of games for the guests who enjoy fun interaction with each other.
