The Reid-Tanner House exemplifies the timeless beauty of Oswego's golden age.
Located in the historic Washington Square District, the double lot and buildings were owned by the Reid family, founders of Reid & Company hardware established in the late 1800s. The Reid family owned the property for fifty years before transferring to the Tanner family who also lived in the house for decades.
The house is an original 1910 historical mirror image duplex, intentionally built of two homes for two generations of families side by side. While you’ll be staying in the north-east home, the front entry vestibule, basement laundry area, and ½ of the back yard are shared with the mirrored home. The colonial revival has been beautifully preserved and includes many of the original details such as hand carved wood, brass & crystal light fixtures and original butlers pantry. The house is elegantly furnished, with rooms on two floors including a covered front porch, entry vestibule, beautiful staircase, parlor sitting room, formal dining room, renovated kitchen, original bathroom, 1/2 bathroom on main level, two bedrooms and enclosed rear porch. The main parlor includes an entertainment cabinet with a 43” LED TV, smart blu-ray player, Roku system and bluetooth soundbar. The master bedroom includes period furniture, a queen sized bed, 43” LED TV, smart blu-ray player, Roku system, bedside USB charging station, radio alarm clock and A/C (during summer months). The second bedroom includes period furniture, a full sized bed, 40” LED TV, smart blu-ray player, Roku system, bedside USB charging station, radio alarm clock and A/C (during summer months). The original bathroom has ceramic wall tiles and includes an antique claw foot tub. The renovated kitchen includes stainless steel appliances, refrigerator, electric stove/oven, microwave, toaster, drip coffee maker, small espresso machine and Nespresso Citiz machine (capsules not included). Washer and dryer are located in the basement. It is a short walk to the pedestrian bridge riverwalk, close to downtown, restaurants, bars, shops and movie theater. SUNY Oswego college is a 10 minute drive and public transportation is also within walking distance. Off street parking is provided and high speed Internet is included. Step back in time at the Reid-Tanner House and experience everything historic Oswego has to offer.

Great House! Well stocked kitchen, especially because we like making breakfast in house, not eating out all the time. Beds were comfortable and the house had everything we needed. Very convenient to everything in Oswego. Historic look of the house and decor was great to look at. Communication with the Host was easy (though everything was laid out clearly, so we didn't require help) Definitely recommend staying here! We will!!!
We had a great stay at the Reid-Tanner House. It is a beautiful historic home that is well stocked with everything you need and more. Very clean and comfortable. Quite neighborhood that is close to everything. Jeff was a great host, and we hope to stay again!
We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful historic home. The home was very comfortable and had nice amenities to make us feel right at home! The neighborhood is quite y and close to everything! Jeff was very responsive and accommodating. We’ll look forward to staying here again next time we’re in town.
Went to visit my grandson at Oswego. This house was such a great house, Full of charm. It was sooooo clean and there was EVERYTHING available, from bathroom and kitchen supplies to delicious chocolate chip cookies that my grandkids devoured lol. THANK YOU JEFF, for your wonderful hospitality
We were pleasantly surprised by the Reid-Tanner house. While a historic home, with elegant furnishings and decor, we felt very comfortable and at home for our time here. The host was very communicative, the extra touches, like cookies, added to the well stocked and supplied rooms. We had one rainy day, and it was great to be at home here and relax in the lovely setting. A great location for an adult getaway to Oswego! And try the Rooftop Restaurant for a delicious dinner.
Beautiful home. The kitchen was clean and very well equipped. The stairs to the bedrooms is steep. The claw footed shower may be difficult for older people. The washer and dryer are well maintained and useful, but they are located in the basement. The owner has taken the time to label everything and we felt safe and cool in the July heat! Thank you
This is a lovely Victorian home - furnished and decorated inside with an eclectic collection of antiques and reproduction pieces. Oswego is a very walkable city, and this is close enough to walk to the downtown and yet far enough away to be in a quiet neighborhood. The clawfoot tub, with curtain to modify to a shower was a bit of a challenge to negotiate for a 70-ish (healthy weight) woman with two prosthetic knees.
This is a special place! Super clean, organized, well appointed! Very comfortable. All the amenities you need and more. Perfectly located to central Oswego downtown area. Walking distance to church. 2 minute drive to Riverwalk and restaurants in Oswego. Five minutes from Oswego St U. The host is amazing. Communicates everything needed and provides info on all things Oswego.
