Beautiful location and home. The lake access and views were spectacular! The home was missing a few amenities like lighters for the fire (the one available was out of lighter fluid) and batteries for the flashlight, and the roof of the screened in porch was leaking a bit after a long rain, but other than that we found it to be a nice and cozy stay.

Thank you for your review, we look forward to hosting you again.
Wild Heron was perfect for us and our dogs. It was exactly as listed and you can't beat sitting in the living room looking out at the lake. We were moving back to Missouri from out of state and needed a place to land for 2 weeks until we closed on our new home. This chalet was just the perfect fit. Not fancy, but comfortable and everything we needed to live comfortably while all of our belongings were being shipped from one place to another. Kitchen is very well stocked with appliances, dishes, etc. King size bed was comfortable and the showers have great water pressure. The laundry facilities are conveniently located at the amenity center next to the gym. Laundry and a workout at the same time - no excuses!! We have rented from the host previously and would recommend any of his properties. The support team was quick to respond to any question or issue and when a storm rolled through and power was out in the area, they even sent someone to check on us to be sure it had been restored timely and everything was OK. That is true customer service.

We enjoyed our stay. Most everything was as depicted in the listing.
The only thing I would suggest to the host is to have more detailed TV/cable instructions. We were trying to watch the Mizzou vs Oklahoma game and had no clue to get to the SEC network.
Not a lot of detail in the welcome packet.
Thx
We loved our trip to the Wild Heron chalet! A group of five adults going to the local Ren Faire looking for a place to stay. We were underwhelmed with our hotel options so I thought I’d take a look on VRBO. I found this place by chance and the whole crew was excited and the trip was booked in about 15 minutes upon finding the listing. I had some technical difficulties logging in and half of our information was under my maiden name while the rest was in my current name. I messaged the owner and he responded right away and was incredibly kind and helpful. My husband and I showed up on Friday, we explored the chalet and enjoyed some quiet time on the porch and in the sun room, as it was after dark and we had forgotten our bug spray. The next morning, we enjoyed coffee on the dock and enjoyed what can only be described as a tranquil morning before stomping around the enchanted forest 20ish minutes away. Our friends arrived that evening and begged to stay for an additional night (though we had to be grownups and work Monday morning). We all got some great views, great sleep, and great times visiting in such a warm and relaxed environment. I haven’t stayed in many VRBOs, because many just feel *off* to me, that was not the case here. The decor, the lighting, everything just seemed the perfect amount of cozy that dares you to settle in with a hot drink and a book. This was my favorite place we have ever stayed in all of our adventures and I hope we can book again for next year!
The stay met our expectations. We enjoyed all the deer and nature trails and the peaceful quiet and privacy of the cabin. We only fished from the backyard lake, where our boys were able to catch loads of bluegills so I can't speak to whether there were bigger, tastier fish available at other lakes because we were interested in quantity over quality of fish. We utilized the cabin's khayaks and life jackets as well as the puzzles for some downtime entertainment. We were pleasantly surprised at all the items available in the cabin, it felt like every time we opened a cupboard or drawer there was something we may want to use - from puzzles & games to lighters & fireplace tools to kitchen & bar utensils to life jackets & oars. We also golfed (we were able to get a tee time for Thursday by dropping by the pro shop on Tuesday), ate dinner (we were surprised they weren't open on the first 3 days we were there - Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday but the food was decent), swam in the lake and the pool (our city boys didn't love the muddy bottom of the lake and the resort pool wasn't that exciting but both were typical of a lake resort IMO), and did laundry at the resort (which was easy - 3 washers & dryers, a coin machine, 1.50 for washers, 1.00 for dryers). Overall, we would stay again if we are looking for another relaxing family vacation at the lake.
