We were in town because we are looking at buying property up here. This is an amazing cabin in Three Lakes. The property was beautiful and it has an incredible view of the lake. Everything was clean and the beds were comfortable. The host was very responsive and all instructions were very clear. Would stay here again

Thank you Tyler. We are new to vrbo and welcomed your positive review. Enjoy the holiday season and thanks for allowing us to host your stay.
Unfortunately we needed a place to stay due to a family emergency right before the holidays. However, we were very thankful to see this property available easily meeting our families needs including our dogs. Our family had the seclusion and coziness we were looking for during a trying time. Alan, the owner, was in communication early and often which really helped make this part of the trip hassle-free. I can express how much my family appreciated the comfort this place provided us. We will be staying here again taking advantage of the lake and wildlife. Thanks again Alan!Sambs family

Leo,
Thanks for the nice review. You and your family are welcome back anytime. Have a great new year.
The cabin was perfect for our weekend stay. The location was nice. The cabin was secluded in the woods and was close to town. We even went ice fishing right off the property. It was easy to get ahold of the owner and the owner made sure we enjoyed our stay. As well, the check-in was easy. The only downside of the cabin was that there was items in the fridge, drawers, and around the cabin that made it seem like someone was living there. This gave us less room for our things. If that is something that does not bother you, this is a great cabin for you to stay at.

Hannah,
thanks for the 5 star review. I’m sorry about food being left in the fridge. The biggest challenge in three lakes is finding a good housekeeper. Unfortunately, she must have forgotten about the fridge. Otherwise, glad you enjoyed the property.

Not too bad
Smelly, mouldy laundry in the washer. Threw that out. The owner was very responsive! The paddle boat was not present. One door in the basement would not lock. Not good.

Thanks for your feedback.
Yes, the housekeeper left a load
Of laundry in the washing machine between guests. Sorry for the inconvenience. The lock is now fixed. Thanks for your feedback.
The land itself is beautiful and great for bike rides and walks. The town is nice, small and perfect. The Three Lakes chain is INCREDIBLE in all that it offers. Alan was easy to work with and very reachable. The downsides:-Shalllow, soft and thick muddy lake bottom prevented us from swimming directly off the pier.-Interior of the cabin itself. No updates and all the cabinets and shelf space are cluttered with dusty crap that could have been discarded 40 years ago. There is no place to put your food, toiletries, personal items. The bedrooms are tiny and the cabin has very poor airflow making it very difficult to sleep when temps are above 60 deg at night. There are only two fans and, like the stove, they appear to be as old as the cabin (100 years). We ran out of TP by day four. I'm sure Alan would have brought some by, but we didn't want to see another visitor during our stay.-In the first three days there were THREE unexpected contractors that showed up unanounced. A guy that came to estimate "driveway repair" (I think he was lying about that as he couldn't answer any specific questions I asked), a guy that came to remove a boat rack from the water and a guy that came to work on something in the detached garage. So much for property feeling "private" or "secluded".While we had a great vacation and would visit the Three Lakes Chain again, this cabin would prevent us from renting this property again.Put money into fixing the cabin up, we would change our tune.

I appreciate you taking the time to leave a review, though I’d like to address a few of the comments you made which, frankly, feel exaggerated or misrepresented.
It’s good to hear you enjoyed the land, town, and Three Lakes Chain—it truly is a special place. That said, your complaints about the cabin’s interior seem to disregard the fact that this is a Northwoods cabin clearly advertised as such. It’s not a modern resort, nor does it pretend to be. Many guests value the charm and history of the space, and while we are planning updates, the idea that the shelves are “cluttered with dusty crap” is a matter of personal taste, not objective truth.
As for the airflow and sleeping comfort—there are multiple windows and two fans, and the cabin has never been described as air-conditioned. If sleeping is difficult in temps over 60 degrees, that seems to be more of a personal comfort issue than a property flaw. We always encourage guests to ask for anything they need; running out of TP four days into a stay is easily fixed with a simple text or call.
Your issue with contractors stopping by is noted, but again, it’s not uncommon in the Northwoods during short seasonal windows to have occasional site work scheduled. None of the individuals you mentioned entered the cabin or interfered with your stay, and their presence was brief and limited to the exterior.
Lastly, I find it contradictory that you describe your vacation as “great” yet claim this cabin alone would keep you from coming back.
