About this property
Natural Private Setting, Dog-Friendly, Fenced yard, Hot Tub, Walk/bike to trails
Escape, unplug, and unwind in America's yearround playground, the Lake Tahoe Basin. Explore so much right from the front door of your own Tahoe getaway at Muskwaki Pines, situated off the beaten path, yet conveniently close to all that Tahoe has to offer.
When privacy, tranquility, and getting back to nature are the qualities you are searching for in your next getaway, then look no further. From the moment you step through the entry door, you will feel that you have found your mountain home away from home. Muskwaki Pines is nestled in one of South Shore Lake Tahoe’s best kept secret neighborhoods.
Conveniently tucked off of Pioneer Trail, this quiet area fronts the Upper Truckee River and meadow, a ten-minute walk from the house. The home’s peaceful setting has meadow, forest and mountain views. There is open space surrounding the property with both forest and meadow. Even though it is just fifteen minutes in any direction to Lake Tahoe’s attractions, you may not want to leave. Do not be surprised to see bears, coyotes, migratory birds, and even an occasional raccoon cruising the area.
Of course, nothing compares to Tahoe summers and winters. But do not overlook the shoulder seasons of spring and fall, our personal favorite times of year. With spring brings the snow melt when the rivers and creeks are brimming and the meadows are verdant with grasses and wildflowers. The birds are on their migratory path north.
During the winter and spring months, explore the Upper Truckee River meadow on snowshoes or skinny skis. Right out the front door, this hidden jewel of natural beauty and tranquility is used primarily by neighborhood locals. Or head off to one or all of the three world class ski resorts nearby: Heavenly 15 minutes, Sierra-at-Tahoe 20 minutes, or Kirkwood, 30 minutes.
In the fall months, the crowds have left, the weather is a little cooler. The hiking and biking trails are at their best. The fall colors start popping. Those migratory birds are now stopping in Tahoe on their way south. There is a special sense of calm during this time of year.
It is only a warm-up pedal from the front door to hopping onto some of the areas most renown biking trails, such as Powerline and Fountain Place. Or head up to Hawley Grade, Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, or Angora Ridge. So many choices to name.
Not to be overlooked are the night skies. As the city of South Lake Tahoe is obscured by forest and elevations, there is minimal light pollution. The hot tub is the perfect spot from which to gaze up at our amazing universe.
Because this home has been the owners' primary residence for over thirty years, it is well stocked with everything you will need to make this your home away from home. The interior is furnished with comfy lodge furniture and Tahoe themed artworks. The kitchen is well stocked with appliances and cooking essentials, so that you can spend more of your vacation time on vacation. The BBQ on the deck is always ready as it is hard-wired natural gas. No propane tanks to fill.
The home has a total of three bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms are equipped with comfy king-size pillow top mattresses. There is a twin over queen bunk bed in the third bedroom. The two bathrooms are conveniently laid out with a bathtub/shower combo in one and the other with a shower. No one will be left without hot water due to the tankless hot water heater. Conveniently, a fully stocked laundry room is off the kitchen. For those who must take their work with them, there is high speed wifi internet and various office supplies.
Lots of windows invite the outdoors in. Enjoy your privacy on the deck that overlooks the fences yard. Take in the fabulous sunsets while soaking in the four-person hot tub. Or just curl up in front of the fire and watch a good movie on the big screen Smart TV.
Our furry guests can romp in the fenced yard area with access from the deck. But that still leaves plenty of open grassy area to set up a game of croquet or bocce ball, or build snowmen in the wintertime.
Don't forget your mountain bike. We are are short warm-up pedal to some of Tahoe's world-class MTB trails. Or bring your beach cruiser and head to Camp Richardson. Hiking shoes are a must as there are too many trails to choose from within minutes.

About the host
Hosted by Sue and Neal

Lake Tahoe is a special place. We have lived in Tahoe for over 40 years. Once you plant you feet you never want to leave. Max and Riley, our dogs, loved to go to the Upper Truckee River and splash in the water. As scuba divers, we have explored all around the shores of the lake. As boaters, we enjoy our outings in the summer and fall on the big blue.
Why they chose this property
Anytime of year is paradise here. This area is one of South Lake Tahoe's best kept secrets. It is off the beaten path with open space and fewer homes than most areas. The property is bordered by meadow and forest on 3 sides. The natural world is at your fingertips. The Upper Truckee River meadowland is a 10-minute walk out the front door. You can hop on your bike and hit world-class mountain bike trails in minutes.
What makes this property unique
Private setting, Fresh Mountain Air, tall pines and a beautiful lake. The river and flower studded meadow is a short walk from the front door. Wildlife cruises right through the property.
