Cozy, charming lakefront cottage on quiet, spring-fed Lake Chaffee. Relax on the deck, dock or private beach. Swim, canoe, kayak or paddleboard around the lake to one of the little islands. Float on a raft, fish, enjoy the changing light, read, nap, go hiking in the nearby state park, or bike on scenic roadways.

If you don't feel like grilling with lake views and eating under the stars, then head out to local, charming cafes.

Just returned home from my second stay at this cottage. It was a very relaxing week. It’s a very nice spot on a quiet lake. Kathy makes it easy to check in/out and is very responsive to messages. I’m hoping to be able to do this again next year!
Repeat visit. Very enjoyable. Lake was still cold, so caught some bass, pickerel and perch. Wish the local store had stayed in business....always good for breakfast and ice.
The cabin turned out to be really nice. Everything was clean and cooking in the kitchen was convenient. Enjoyed the cabin very much and will book in the future.
our friends that came for day trips really enjoyed the total location and had a wonderful time doing all the activities
as well as the fishing at the lake!! Thank you again to the
owner Kathy we had a wonderful time!!! Nancy and Jim
Jim especially loved the fishing early and evening!!
Love this little place on the water. It has everything you need to feel right at home including the neighborhood cats that hang out on the deck with you. Peaceful kayaking around the lake is the best.
This is our 4th time renting this cottage and once again we had a wonderful time. The cottage, the lake, so relaxing. We'll definitely be coming back again. Lynne & Matt Hampden, MA
we all know we can’t control the weather, and despite the five out of seven days of rain, we found the cottage to be especially clean, comfortable and peacefully relaxing. Have already booked again for next year.
This place and the location is simply awesome. Located directly at a quiet and lovely lake, equipped with canoes and a kayak, clean... what else can you dream of? Yes the stunning view especially around fall im something else! Just great!
Beautiful lake, comfortable house large enough for 2 adults with 2 kids. Large deck, old trees provide much desired shade. A lot of entertainment (books, movies, 2 kayaks and canoe, inflatables, toys for sand).
This was our 3rd year staying here and it was fabulous. The cottage is great and you cannot beat the location, right on the lake. Awesome deck, dock and fire pit. Love it, love it.

Cute cottage on the lake. Walk out the door to a small beach and hop in the kayaks for a paddle around the lake. Nice deck to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning and grill out in the afternoon. Beds were comfy and the host left many thoughtful amenities (bottled water in fridge, etc). Perfect place to enjoy a little quiet time.
Cozy cottage , everything need for a comfortable stay. The host has thought of everything. The lake is quiet & peaceful. It was the perfect place to relax & enjoy. One of the neighbors had a band playing on Saturday and we enjoyed the music. Fireworks were also nice. My husband enjoyed kayaking and fishing.
Beautiful, well stocked and very comfortable home and surroundings. Lake is lovely.
Only issue is the tap water which has an odor.
Kathy left an abundant supply of bottled water for drinking.
It's a great house, we looked forward to the view of the lake every morning and walked around it once. Everything was clean and well stocked, the kitchen and bathroom. Overall the house was totally cozy and inviting, including the fireplace. Kathy was great and supportive. We (3 persons) felt completely at home and if it wasn't so far away (we are from Germany) we would come back every year :)
We saw the pictures. We've done rentals before. We thought "no way will it be that nice." It was. And the cottage is thoughtfully stocked with toiletries, condiments, linens, recreation equipment, etc. Felt like it was tailored for us. Loved it.
The cottage was just as described. Very cute. Everything I needed was there and the grocery store wasn’t too far. I would suggest backing in when parking. Kathy was very responsive, kind and easy to work with.
I stayed here to be near my grandchildren who live nearby. The grandchildren loved the lake for kayaking, swimming and fishing. They went home exhausted at night.
My week was just what I was looking for to start my summer. I will be back.

Peaceful, relaxing getaway!
My family had a great stay at this lakefront cottage. The property provided everything we needed for our short getaway. It was great not to have to pack towels, linens, and kitchen basics for our stay. My husband and son had a great time fishing from the dock and taking the canoe out to the middle of the lake where they caught several larger bass and pickerels. My other son had fun exploring the lake with the kayak. We also enjoyed an excursion to the Mansfield drive-in theater about a half hour away. The owner was accommodating in letting us bring our dog and promptly returned our security deposit the same day we left. Thank you for a great time!
Absolutely, 100% pleased with our stay.
It's a beautiful private retreat.
Truly needed nothing but clothing, food & drink.
Everything else is supplied.
The lake is peaceful and quiet and loaded with fish.
Our last day in the (provided) canoe my wife landed a 6 and a half pound largemouth and we caught numerous other fish as well.
Definitely recommend both the Ashford Dairy Bar and Buck's Ice Cream (in Woodstock) for those who share my belief that a vacation isn't a vacation without soft-serve ice cream!
Local wineries and breweries tend to be open Thur - Sunday
Kathy is a courteous and very responsive host.
This is truly a hidden gem!!

The house does have a smaller footprint but feels bigger due to all of the light and air flow. The enormous deck practically doubles the size of the house. On it are 10 heavy, cushioned chairs, a dining (with umbrella) and a smaller table. The propane grill is large. You can't beat a place with a/c AND heat. There's abundant inside lighting and outlets. The beds are very comfortable. The bigger bedroom has a queen bed and the 2nd bedroom has a full. Each has a closet and bureau. There's a stackable washer/dryer. The bathroom is at the end of the house away from the action, so offers privacy. The houses around the lake are close to each other. Hearing neighbors enjoy the summer and the lake feeds the soul. But, at night and early day, all you can hear are the birds singing (at least now, in June). The private backyard is a lush green and plenty big for hanging out or playing catch with the kids. The adirondack chairs that surround the firepit are also heavy, not that cheap plastic type that blows away. There's fun water floats among other items in the shed, such as fishing poles, life jackets, and paddles. Because I am writing to potential renters, note: I did not see a stereo (and it's not indicated in the listing, either), pack water shoes just in case, the (very clean) house water has a faint smell of sulfur and there is no lounger on the deck, where you can stretch your legs out, so you may want to bring your own. Lastly, Kathy is awesome and wants you to have the best time.
The cabin is very cozy, extremely clean and very well stocked. Kathy is an amazing host, she is quick to respond and very accommodating! 10/10 recommend!!
