Great townhouse and wonderful hostess!

I needed room for 5 adults and parking. This townhouse was located close to DC sites in a nice quiet neighborhood. The hostess was very responsive and the house was clean with great amenities. The additional living room and balcony were lovely. The house rules were reasonable and one car garage access was very convenient.

The host was excellent, quick to communicate and very helpful. However the property had some issues. Everything is very bare bones or worn/poor shape. It's not clear in the photos but the 4th floor bed is just a box spring and lopsided mattress on the floor, with an unattached headboard. Some of the windows have see thru curtains, no privacy. The couches aren't comfortable and the chairs are rickety. No nightstands or dressers to put belongings in, so we had to live out of suitcases on the floor for a week. Some of the kitchen gear was not clean and there was some trash/leftover items from other guests under the furniture. The neighborhood was very quiet and the townhouse itself is nice. It's not a bad rental, just not worth this price.

Let me start with the good -- the owner was responsive and diligent about resolving any issues or concerns that arose during our stay. That said, this is a very disappointing experience. Aesthetically, I liked the home's decor but upon entry, the carpet and walls certainly need a refresh. Also, many of the important appliances did not function properly, most importantly the oven. The owner should have made sure that the oven was working especially with my family spending the thanksgiving holiday here. It took almost 2 hours to repair and ruined our dining plan. In addition, the garbage disposal didn't work and we needed someone to repair that. Upon contacting the owner for some kind of financial accommodation, she penalized me for her appliances requiring repair, when it was obvious these weren't new issues with the home. Lastly, the neighborhood is a bit sketchy but it was pretty quiet and parking was smooth. Don't think I would stay here again in the future especially when the many options available.

My home was built in 2020 and has only been used for short stays over the past year. I have invested significant time and hard-earned money to ensure my guests have a comfortable and convenient stay held to high standards. There was new construction behind my home, and at one point the power went out. Because no one was present at the time, certain systems needed to be reset. During Damien’s stay, he experienced an issue with the oven, not that it was broken, but that it was not heating up quickly enough. As soon as I was informed, I contacted maintenance, and the oven was reset in under one hour. The other issue involved the garbage disposal, which was also fixed immediately. Damien had no additional complaints, and all concerns were addressed promptly. I take pride in my home, and many guests have shared that it truly feels like a home away from home, as it was created with care and love. I sincerely apologized to Damien; however, he continued to request money, which I declined. I believe this is why he left this review more than a month later. I would not host Damien again nor recommend him or his family. Two blankets were damaged during the stay, which I did not charge for, and the garage door was left wide open, leaving my home vulnerable. I believe this occurred in retaliation for not being able to reach me before checkout to request money. Many of his messages requesting money bordered on being verbally aggressive. He’s the worst guest I’ve encountered thus far.
