Three generations of our family wanted to stay all together for a holiday in Litchfield, and this beautiful historic home was the perfect place. We absolutely loved all the history and character of the Darling House, and it was very clean and comfortable for everyone from the grandmother to the youngest kids. The proximity to Litchfield center was super convenient, and the playground across the street came in handy more than one morning. Would definitely stay here again!

It was a pleasure to host Emilie and her family and I’m so pleased they enjoyed Darling House and Litchfield for their Thanksgiving holiday!
my family of 10 stayed at the Darling House for 5 days to attend our wedding at Raymond Family Farm. The host, Hal, was the best. He happened to be in the area and we invited him over. The best advice he gave me when i told him we were all adults(50 years and older) and he didn't have to worry about the house getting trashed his reply was I'm in that age range and to let them play! The house was roomy to accommodate the 10 that were staying there plus those that came after the wedding to celebrate! Very private, large back yard, plenty of chairs for everyone. Those staying there were very pleased. The house was furnished with everything you needed. Thank you Hal for letting us stay and celebrate in a great house!
The home is spacious and charming, and very clean, with lovely décor, thoughtful touches and historical ambiance. The location is right in the town center so you can walk to restaurants and the grocery store is minutes away. The host was very flexible and super quick to respond. The kitchen is well stocked with dishware and silverware, and there are ample towels, sheets, etc.Although our host warned us, the walkway leading to the front of the house is in need of repair, with loose bricks on the walkway and narrow uneven steps. The things that would have made our stay even better include adding basic cooking supplies, such as oil, sugar, condiments, basic seasonings, and more cookware. In addition, while there are coverings on a few of the bedroom windows, providing shades or curtains for all of them is needed for privacy. All in all, this was a wonderful gathering place—roomy and comfortable.
