The pictures do not do it justice. Fully stocked with all the amenities. Just up the road from natural hot springs and the charming town of Markleeville. The owner was very responsive and understanding to some last-minute requests.
My family and I have spent a lot of time in Markleeville over the years and we all love the area. We wanted to get away for a few days for a quiet Fourth of July and the house on Sawmill Road was perfect for us. The host is great and the house is rustic but very comfortable and had all the amenities we could ask for, including level 2 EV charging. The location is really good - about halfway between town and the hot springs - and whether the house is a base for various adventures in the area or is the destination itself for a little solitude and relaxation, you can't go wrong. We will be back, maybe in winter for a skiing adventure at nearby Kirkwood!
this is a wonderful spot, just up the road from "town." The home is beautiful and has the feeling of being lived in and loved. Cooking in this kitchen is a five star review! very nice. and the second best part is the very large (10' wide) window in the master bedroom. Owner/manager is quite responsive which was an added bonus!
My family enjoyed their time at the house. The kitchen had enough dishes for our large family and we could all eat at the large table. Communication with Ben was excellent. He responded quickly to my inquiries. He checked on us couple of times to make sure we were doing well. He really showed he cared that we would enjoy our time there. We went fishing in the area and did a hike at Grover Hot Springs Park. The house is in a nice neighborhood where we took evening walks. Thank you, Ben, for sharing your home.
The four of.us stayed for three nights and this lovely spot surpassed our expectations. Wonderfully appointed with a fantastic porch in the trees. Highly recommend.
Gorgeous, well appointed “mountain cabin” living area and lots of beds upstairs, just a couple miles from Grover Hot Springs SP and close to Markleevile. Perfect for our family gathering!
This property worked well for friends from afar to gather. Room to be alone or together. Could use a few more amenities in the bedrooms, mirrors, better lighting , and closet space ( master closet was full of owner's stuff). Towels need replacing. Otherwise it was just fine.
The house was everything I expected and more. There was a high quality barbecue, full kitchen with everything we needed ,and comfortable sleeping arrangements. The owner was very helpful with all questions and I would recommend this place for anyone interested in great hiking or just soaking inthe near by mineral pool.
We were looking for lodging for the 2019 Death Ride bicycle event and found this large house close to the start in Markleeville. Booking was a breeze and the owner was easy to contact for questions as the date approached. We invited our kids and grandkids and found the home to be comfortable and family friendly for our 3 day stay. The kitchen is terrific and the views of forest are relaxing. We would definitely rent this house again.
A very neat and clean place to stay in and we have a great time there. There is plenty of room to hang around and have a complete set of utensils for cooking.
Great house. If going to the Hot Springs, prrfect location.
Evrrything you need for a great stsy in this house.

Perfect
This was the 2nd Thanksgiving myself, my husband and our adopted family (friends) spent at this home. We had a blast. The kitchen makes entertaining a large crowd a pleasure. The appliances, utensils and bakeware/cookware are all high quality and well stocked. While I do bring some things from home (like a large turkey roasting pan, and extra large serving bowls) to do a more formal dinner, most people serving casual meals will find everything they need to feed a group, including a large number of place settings.
The house is cozy, and warm, and is easy for a small - medium group to spread out and enjoy themselves. Lovely dark wood trim gives this place a nice feel.
The surrounding area never disappoints, if you are an outdoorsy sort of person. So many beautiful areas to see whether just driving or doing serious hiking. Garnerville is about 25 minutes away for large quantity or specific provisions, and the Markleeville store has a great selection of odds and ends which a person may need.
I highly recommend this rental. Ben is a pleasure to work with, and checking in/out is a snap, and very user friendly. Thanks, Ben, for another fantastic trip. We are yet again, already talking about next year.

The best Thanksgiving week ever!!
Our party visited Ben's place during the week of Thanksgiving. Amazing time of year to visit. We had such a variety of weather that every taste in weather was presented. We had sunny lovely days, windy, blustery, fall like days, rain, and 6" of snow. We hiked, we enjoyed the large and well stocked kitchen, we sang to the classic music provided by the record collection, we put together a puzzle and enjoyed the fire. On day three, several in our party were already discussing "when we come back next year....." Ben was super easy to work with, answered all my questions thoroughly and thoughtfully, and getting into the home was a piece of cake. The space of the home is undersold in the pictures; it's much roomy than it appears. Lots of extra blankets too. We walked down Hot Springs Road a ways to the west at night, and the view of the Milky Way was amazing. This home is a great value, I highly recommend it if you are seeking to stay in this area.

Wonderful Alpine County House
Our group loved this woodsy cabin set among the Aspen trees in the small town of Markleeville. The house was beautiful and comfortable. It is close to great hiking, biking, swimming, and hot springs without being in the crowds at Lake Tahoe. I highly recommend this house. And Ben the owner was very responsive and helpful.
