The property is in such a beautiful spot secluded and quiet. It can be a little difficult to find in the dark. Get there early the first night. Immaculately clean. We didn’t need to cook a lot. There isn’t an actual stove but there are other cooking items provided. The bed was very comfortable.
Great, first impression, as we made contact with the owner on the day of our arrival and received prompt responses and clear answers to our questions. Directions provided to the location also very helpful. Once we entered the cottage, kids were stoked to check out their loft, which was far beyond expectation. The entire residence appeared well cared for, modern, as well as thoughtful of guests.Property immerses you at the foot of towering mountains, a brook that runs through the front yard and the river just steps away, the highway can be heard at a distance when outside. However, inside the insulation and acoustics of the cottage so well constructed excluded any notice of that.Felt it was well worth the value, to stay, but the one thing that would make it better, which is out of the control of the owner, but in the area, would be if Grover hot springs were more reliable…

Thos was our second time staying at this property and we had a wonderful stay. It is close enough to the ski resorts, restaurants and casinos while providing a peaceful and quiet place to stay. The property is gorgeous with the rushing creek and hiking options.
My wife and I with our two kids needed a quick getaway and this was just perfect. It's a newer, well-appointed cottage, next to a larger main house. The creek is 20 yards off the back door. It's really a great place to stay while exploring Alpine County.
My stay was fantastic and what I liked most was that it was next to that small river, it was a wonderful experience.

This is a beautiful cottage right on the river, surrounded by lovely aspens and craggy cliffs. Perfect base for enjoying fall color.
Wonderful little cottage in the most spectacular setting. It was well appointed, felt/looked very clean, and we had everything we needed. The kitchen has no stove, but they detail that in the description so we came prepared with food that was easy to make on a hot plate so that was totally fine. There’s lots of big windows to throw open and the evening breeze is lovely. The bed is comfortable and the linens felt great! As an FYI, be prepared to have very little connectivity as the wifi is pretty spotty. Not surprising in this location though, I think they do the best they can with it. At one point I had to reset the modem, and the owner was available by phone immediately to talk me through how to find it. Really nice guy. Thank you for a fabulous 3 days!
Mike was so gracious, accommodating and a pleasure to meet! The cottage provided everything we needed and the location was perfect! Loved the sounds of the roaring river from the backyard! We will be back!
Great location for the Death Ride to ride to/from the start/finish. It was great to have a comfortable cottage to stay in before and after such a long ride. This is probably one of the most well equipped cottage I’ve ever stayed in. Although the home doesn’t have AC, it was a non issue with the cool breeze & multiple fans provided by the owner. Mike was great and responsive with his communication. I would definitely stay here again!!
This property is all and more than is described. It was a delight to sit on any side of the cottage and enjoy the sublime views. The owners are taking great care of the natural landscape. The cottage kitchen amenities were clean and classy and the linens and towels were luxurious. We hope to make this a regular trip.
We booked a last minute 4 day stay here in Markleeville. We usually camp but, have an infant and decided to rent this beautiful cabin. The cabin is vey nicely built in a perfect location. All the neighbors are really friendly.
Mike was very responsive and gave us some great fishing tips. My goal for the trip was for my son (4 yrs old) to catch his first trout on his own. First day he got one up by the campground and 4 more over the next few days. We drove and did a few hikes to the lakes in the Hope Valley and visited downtown Markleeville. Overall, very pleasurable experience we will definitely book again.
My husband and I had a lovely time at this cute cottage right outside of Markleeville! Nestled in a small valley, we loved hearing the river while we slept! It was clean and well appointed, and despite having no oven, between the hotplates the toaster oven, and the BBQ the owner loaned us for the weekend we were able to cook with no issues (it was a little dark in the kitchen, but a headlamp solved that.) We watched the multitude of stars and enjoyed the fire pit. We even had some bear sightings, as they evidently loved the chokeberries nearby.
It was a fabulous jumping off point to our unforgettable hike to Winnemucca Lake, with lots of wildflowers still in bloom and waterfalls and streams still gushing. The high elevation was the only thing we had to adjust to.
Highly recommend this rental, as it was hard to leave and among so much beauty. Yosemite was calling, but we hope to be back! Thanks so much, Mike!
