It is clear the host of this property wants to make sure guests have a great time and have everything they need at the house. The house was amazing and for once, no one in our party complained about uncomfortable beds! The layout of the house is unique, hot tub was great. Can't say enough good things about this place.

We were drawn to this property because of its location near Grayling and because it seemed the right place for a short family vacation. Now that we are back home, I am delighted to report that we could not have asked for a more delightful experience. Our communication with the property wonder was superb. Sue was accommodating, welcoming, and accessible. The home was well-kept, warm, and spacious. Its location on a branch of the Au Sable River was unparalleled for its beautiful and peaceful setting. In all, staying at this home was a wonderful experience and I gladly recommend it to others.Barry Lyon

We had seven adults, three teens and one wiener dog in our group and we stayed five days, four nights. Adults used the four bedrooms with the king and queen beds and the teens used the three pullout beds/futon. All beds were comfortable with clean sheets, bedding, and pillows for comfortable nights. The location of the house was close enough to get to Traverse City for the Northwestern, Michigan County fair to see the truck and tractor pulls, we also drove up to Mackinac Island for a day, we took a walk at Hartwick Pines, and it was the perfect location to go do lots of fly fishing on the Ausable river. We also loved coming back each evening to enjoy the cozy fire pit down by the river and the hot tub!The kitchen was also well stocked with everything needed to cook up a giant breakfast each morning! There were also plenty of extra bath towels, hand towels, washcloths, blankets, sheets, pillows, and beach towels, for the hot tub, as well as every kind of soap you would need. Hosts were very quick to respond if we had any questions, and even let us know immediately when they discovered we had left a few things behind. We would love this stay here again!

About the host

Host profile image

We live about an hour away in Lake City, Michigan. We love everything Northern Michigan and when looking for a little getaway, we wanted something on a river, secluded and near the trails. We also desired a place that could bring people together for fun, for celebrations.
We wanted a place where family and friends can gather to encourage one another, build relationships and to make memories. We are excited for you to visit and enjoy your stay at our cabin. We want you to make yourselves at home and to ENJOY every aspect of all this beautiful place has to offer. We delight in making a warm, special and beautiful place for YOU to feel at home!

Why they chose this property

We chose this area because we fell in love with the sound of the river. We love the seclusion that this place offers. We love the space that this home and outdoor space allows for larger gatherings but yet can be quaint and secluded for a little getaway as well. We love the little town of Grayling and their love for the Au Sable and Manistee Rivers. The restaurants are fabulous and we love how friendly the town-folk are!

What makes this property unique

This property is unique in that it sits right on the East Branch of the Au Sable River. You can hear the bubbling of the river from inside the house. This property abuts State Land on two sides and the ORV trails are right outside the driveway (no need to trailer your "toys"). Plenty of parking. Plenty of outdoor space as it has an upper deck, lower patio, screened in porch and fire pit right next to the river. As far as indoor space there are three different living rooms, four bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths. Well-stocked kitchen. Gas grill out on the patio.
