No kidding, the view is spectacular with Mount Riante in the distance. We are on the main channel facing due South which is important because it means NO MOSQUITOES and there is always a nice breeze.
We are just outside the city limits of Hot Springs which means we are minutes away from everything, 5 minutes from Oaklawn Park, yet located on a private, quiet peninsula.
We have a boat dock available with a marina a few hundred yards away to gas up the boat. You will put your boat in at Hill Wheatley park and hop across the main channel to our boat dock.
We have covered parking for your vehicle or your boat trailer. You will want to put your boat in prior to coming to cottage as we have a steep driveway.

Rustic lakehouse, great views. Driveway a little rustic as well. Great stay. Bedroom door could use a shade if you want to sleep past 6:30am. Do recommend for a rustic stay.

We had a very enjoyable, relaxing stay. Hot Springs is a lovely little town and has many interesting things to explore. The house was very adaquate for our needs.
This place is just what we were looking for! The view is beautiful and the cabin nice and cozy! we visited last year and stayed here. Can’t wait to go back!

The property has beautiful views. It was clean and comfortable.
We enjoyed our vacation in the lake house. The house is well equipped and has a great outdoor space to take full advantage of the lakeside location and views.

Amazing view
The view was amazing! This place was perfect for my family of four and then some if we had more people staying. I will definitely be back! Not far from downtown hot springs either!
Older cabin on the lake. Old school. Clean with nice amenities. Very quiet and comfortable.

A Great Getaway
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Cabin is very well equipped, has a great view of a lake. It was quite, peaceful and close to the village yet secluded. The drive way to the cabin from the road is steep, but doable-a easy give for the view and privacy one gets. Owner was very accommodative to our requests. A wonderful stay!
Great place to stay, has everything you could need, close to town ,but far enough to relax and enjoy the lake. Plenty of kitchen utensils, pots, pans, ect. Can not wait until next summer
We needed to run away for our 30th anniversary from St. Louis. It was beyond perfect! The place was so qaint and welcoming. I loved that we could bring our dog. We spent every minute on the dock, or the deck. Probably the only time that I have been in a lake in October, around here. Totally PERFECT!
This is by far our favorite place to stay. The covered deck, covered boat dock & views of the open lake are wonderful. The new stairs with a rail down to the water are fantastic. The house itself needs a little work. The floor in the kitchen has a few very soft places and there are things that need to be updated like pans & tv remote but again this is by far my favorite place so minor things doesn’t prevent us from booking again & again.
We only stayed for 2 days but we enjoyed our short stay. We didn't cook there but the kitchen seems to be well equipped. It was nice having 2 bathrooms. With a group our size, we would not have wanted to stay there for more than a few days but for a couple or small family it would have been perfect. There are definitely some critters roaming at night (outside) so make sure you don't leave any food/snacks out. The lake was perfect! Thanks for sharing your cabin with our family.

Beautiful Lake View
This is a rustic house with a beautiful view of the lake and amazing sunsets. The house is very well equipped with all the comforts you need for your stay. The driveway is two-tiered and steep. So we parked our vehicle in the garage on the first level and then walked down to the house. We were very grateful for the garage during heavy rains a couple of days. All in all a very nice place to relax and unwind!
The owner was very responsive. The place was clean, but not deep clean. It definitely shows it’s age. For the price and our length of stay it was fine. The dock and porch were nice. We had good weather and spent our time outside. Not a ton of space to run around for our 8 & 9 year old boys, but they made the best of it, climbing around the back yard and using their imaginations. If deep clean is your thing, find someplace else. If you don’t mind a little dust/dirt in the corners, windows, and window sills, you’ll be fine here.

Disliked: Communication, listing accuracy
So many issues with this old and tired property
We documented most (not all) issues the first full day in the property. Owners seemed disinterested. Hard to find, impossible driveway, really old house w /subfloor weak areas, electrical plug issues, no real eating area, the list goes on. Can not recommend it. Sad old place.

Cozy cabin in a great location
My wife and I enjoyed our stay in this cozy lake front cabin. Not big but the space was all we needed. We enjoyed a great view for sunrise and sunset on Lake Hamilton. If you're looking for luxury not for you, but if you're looking for a great rustic lake experience this is it. I would recommend this cabin to friends and family.
As for some of the negative reviews we read before hand, yes there are bugs and spiders. Thats what you find when in nature and especially by natural bodies of water. Insect repellent solved those problems, and we were able to enjoy the dock and the deck.
Lake Hamilton is a wonderful lake to visit. Not crowded and everyone is so polite and helpful. We enjoyed our days out on the water boating, tubing, and swimming.
Give this great rental a chance. It's perfect for you and a special loved one to unwind and relax.

Lakeside Hideaway
This was a quaint lakeside cottage close to downtown and 25 minutes away from Lake Catherine and Lake Ouachita State Parks. The views were wonderful from almost every room. We didn't do a lot of cooking, microwave was all we used. Great to have ice maker in fridge. The sheets and towels provided were just fine. I brought my own and didn't use them. The jacuzzi is not working and we wish we would have known ahead about that. Great to have a washer/dryer available. The second bathroom was an added bonus. Perfect time of year to come: very quiet. Wish I would've been brave enough to get in the water but brrrrrr too cold in April. Driveway was steep but after the second time, it was no biggie. Our GPS lead us straight to the place. No navigating problems. Can't wait to share all that Hot Springs has to offer and will definitely stay here again!
So cute and cozy! Beautiful spot right on the water! Plenty of beds to sleep in, even though it’s only one bedroom. I would definitely book there again.
We adored this little house right on the lake. The kids were able to jump off the dock to paddleboard and swim. The beds were super comfy too! I think we will try to stay here when we come back to Hot Springs!

About the host
Hosted by Chris Schmiedeke
Myself, my wife and our two girls live in Dallas, Texas. My wife is originally from Hot Springs and we travel here as much as time will allow.
We love the Hot Springs area, and wanted someplace on the lake where we could get away.
Why they chose this property
We love this property because of the spectacular views and southerly breeze. We had a place in a cove at one time, and the mosquitos were unbearable.
Our home is a rustic 50+ year old cottage built right on the lake. Multiple decks to lounge on, a boat dock and steps right down into the water.
Check the photos and reviews to learn more about our vacation home. If you are expecting the Ritz Carlton, this is not your place. This is a fantastic rustic cottage where you can hang out at night and spend your days in the water. It is private and quiet with the rumble of boat engines and waves to put you to sleep on the deck.
What makes this property unique
There are multiple decks to lounge on and great swimming. We are minutes from everything by both boat and car. It is a perfect location.
