We had a wonderful experience at the home. It was close to town, Donner Lake, community recreation facility, as well as multiple hiking and biking paths.
We had a great time Erin's cabin. She was very easy to communicate with leading up to the trip and the place itself was just what we were looking for. Will definitely be back!
Solid place in a great location. My only complaints were that the downstairs bedrooms were very cold while the upstairs bedroom was extremely hot and there was no shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom.

Thanks for taking the time to review your stay. Our arrival information details how to operate the heat to keep all the bedrooms comfortable, including keeping thermostat set to 65 overnight and utilizing the radiators in the downstairs bedrooms. This practice keeps the rooms very comfortable. I will review how the information is presented to make sure this is more clear to guests.
Also, there are large pump bottles of conditioner and shampoo under the sinks in both bathrooms. Our cleaner removes all products when she cleans to make sure no moisture is trapped under bottles resulting in potential mildew. I will add that guests may find shampoo/ conditioner under sinks to the arrival info. Thanks for your comments.
We had a great time in the snow! The house was clean, orderly and the check-in process was very smooth. The owner was very accommodating. We will definitely be back again soon!!
Property was clean, comfortable, conveniently located. Communication was excellent with owners, and it was a great place for people with dogs. Master bed was comfortable; heat worked well for the whole house; driveway snow clearing was done early morning after a snowfall overnight.
Erin was great. Super hospitable. Her house is exactly as billed. One slight suggestion, the listing suggested there was a hot tub, which we did not see one. It was by no means a showstopper. We would totally rent this house and with her again.

Hi Sherwood,
Thank you for noting the confusion with hot tub. I have complained to VRBO multiple times that the way the listing details “hot tub” makes it seem like there is one on the property, when the hot tubs are located at the gym for a day use fee. I agree the listing seems like a misrepresentation and I’m continuing to try and adjust the listing format to make clear there is no hot tub on the property. Thank you for your flexibility in response to this misrepresentation. You were wonderful guests and I hope you will consider staying in the future! Thanks you.

Fine for sleeping
Was very excited about my stay in Truckee at Heidi house but unfortunately found the place dirty and run down. The house has a lot of potential so hopefully will be a little nicer in the future.

Thank you for your perspective. This is our first negative review, and we will take your feedback and work to improve the items you found unsatisfactory. Past guests have complimented our cabin's cleanliness and we want each guest to feel the same! A few recent incidents may have contributed to your sense that the cabin was run down/ not clean.
1) after 5 years of wonderful service, our beloved cleaner moved. The new cleaner we have worked with over the last 5 months has not met our standards, and you were actually her last clean for us. We visited the cabin ourselves this weekend to do some detail cleaning and get things in order for our next cleaner. We are optimistic that the level of cleanliness/ orderliness of the cabin will return to what our past guests expect. I will note that while I was dissappointed after inspecting the cabin after the new cleaner's cleans, I reached out to return guests to see if the cabin met their expectations from the past, and no one offered complaint.
2) A few recent guests with dogs negatively impacted our carpets and white slip covered sofa. Though Tahoe dirt which we all come to the cabin to play in also takes its toll on the carpet by end of summer. We have the carpets cleaned each year right before we expect snow to fall and give our carpets a break! We also wash the slip cover every month, but a zipper failed and after many washings it needs to be replaced. We have ordered a new couch (actually before your stay, but it will not be delivered until 2nd week of Sept) to replace the slipcovered couch. All of the remaining furniture is in excellent condition. We also made the tough decision to no longer allow dogs to accompany their owners due to over wear and tear. After our last canine guest booking in Sept, we plan to replace our carpet. We will update photos to reflect the refreshing once complete.
Again, I apologize the cabin fell short of your expectations. I appreciate being able to offer an explanation and share the actions we are taking toward improvement.
Thank you,
Erin
We had a great stay! House was clean and close to Tahoe Donner for skiing. The beds were very comfortable. There was also fun snow play for the little kids right in the backyard. We would definitely stay again.
We loved Erin's cabin. Our kids had so much fun playing outback. It has all the things we needed and was very comfortable. It is also very close to Tahoe Donner which has a bunch of great activities.
This is our second time stay at this property. There is nothing fancy about this cabin, but it is perfect for our family of 4. The kitchen is small, easy to navigate, and well-stocked with everything one needs. The main room has a 2-story ceiling, so the small space feels spacious. The beds are quite comfortable; we sleep very well here. The cabin sits on a beautiful lot, with plenty of open space and wonderful views out the back. We hope to return many times in the years to come.
Great cabin in a wonderful neighborhood. The property is clean, updated, and was as described in the listing. The host was very communicative, and the check-in/check-out well defined. We had a great trip and would stay here again.
Came up for our daughter’s birthday weekend. Cabin was clean, welcoming and well appointed. Close to lake, downtown and ski parks. Will definitely be back!
Nice and spacious A frame home. Good location and comfortable accommodations. Internet was a bit touch and go at times, but with a bit of patience we still were able to surf for what we needed. Our little dog loved the access to nature (backyard) and the windows to watch the birds and squirrels in the trees. Inside steps are a tad steep and a couple are slanted - suggest fixing as my husband took a minor tumble - thus grab the handrail and remove socks before using. The access to laundry and a well equipped kitchen provided us the comforts of home on vacation. We hope to be back!

Thank you so much for taking the time to share feedback as this is invaluable in helping us target issues that need attention. I feel horribly about the uneven step that resulted in a stumble. Our cleaner reported a stair board was loose awhile back and we had the carpet pulled back and the steps stabilized, but clearly the repair was not effective. We will investigate and rectify ASAP. As well, I appreciate feedback on internet speed and will adderess with provider again. Over the years, when Tahoe Donner is particularly crowded for holidays and usage increases, our speed noticeably slows but has remained tolerable. With the dramatic increase in people working and schooling from home over the last few months, I imagine our connectivity is suffering and am hopeful we may be able to boost speed with some intervention. Again, thank you for the review. As recently as the first weeks of July we were at the cabin with my nephews and at a given time 6 or so devices drawing WiFi. At the time, our connection remained serviceable, so I appreciate being able to troubleshoot before our next stay. Efficiently and quickly checking conditions, closures, access, etc. is paramount during this pandemic and fire season.
Delighted you enjoyed your stay and look forward to welcoming you as guests on more stable ground (steps ;-) )in the future.
Take care,
Erin
Wonderful location and great layout for our family. Comfortable and clean beds. Fully stocked kitchen and nice in house laundry facility. Our kids enjoyed the stocked bookshelf in the loft
This cabin was absolutely perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed Everything this cabin had to offer. So cozy and adorably decorated. We never wanted to leave and spent most of our time reading by the fire, watching the snow fall. It was a perfect and relaxing weekend. The location was ideal, so close to everything. Our dogs enjoyed as well.
Great cabin and neighborhood for the family. Everything was perfectly prepared for our arrival along with very helpful information on the area and arrival/departure procedures. Would recommend to others heading to Tahoe.
We absolutely loved staying here. House was clean and warm when we showed up around 5 PM which was nice. Beds were great and the kids loved staying in the bunk beds. Really close to Donner downhill ski area as well.
Would definitely love to stay here again in the future!

A few years ago our family experienced a surprising bump on our life path when our then 4 year old daughter was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease alopecia areata. Alopecia areata is a common, non-contagious autoimmune disease where the body confuses the hair follicle as a foreign substance (like a germ), attacks it and causes hair loss. Alopecia progresses differently for each individual and can cause patch hair loss all the way to total baldness. As well, hair can regrow at any time only to be lost again. In our daughter's case, she lost all her hair and is a fabulously beautiful, brave, adventurous and BALD 7-yr-old! Though we all went through an adjustment period, we arrived at a place where we all celebrate how unique our daughter's situation is and concluded that being bald would never limit her life possibilities, rather serve as a reminder of how special she is. Everyday our daughter takes risks and shows courage--just walking into a restaurant with every eye following you and every child (often loudly) asking about the girl with no hair, requires this. In the spirit of our daughter's inspiring bravery and confidence, we all began living life and making choices differently. Our recent purchase of this home is one way in which we follow our daughter's example, take risks, and follow a 'no excuses' philosophy to living our dreams and passions. If a 7-yr-old who faces the world bald and so very different can do it, can't we? Can't you?
Join our family in getting out there, creating adventures and trying new things. Tahoe is the best place in the world for it!
