About this property
Family Friendly Cabin, 3BR/2BA + loft
The perfect destination for families (and their dogs!) to experience the numerous adventures available to explore in Tahoe/ Truckee. Our cabin is located on a quiet horseshoe shaped street with little through traffic creating a safe environment for walking, biking and play. The driveway is flat and easily accommodates 4 cars.
Our home has a convenient layout enjoyable for both a single family as well as to share with another, sleeping 8. First floor: Open kitchen/dining/living area leading through double sliders to private back deck and wooded flat yard, full bath with jacuzzi tub, bedroom 1 with queen, bedroom 2 with 4 twin bunks. Upstairs: bedroom 3 with king, large bathroom with shower and loft area with flat screen TV (NetFlix, cable, WIFI) and storage shelves stocked with games, legos, art supplies, toys.
All beds have new matresses, linens and down duvets. New hard flooring in living/dining room, kitchen, and bathroom. Both baths and kitchen are updated with everything you need to feel at home. The backyard is flat creating a safe area for children and dogs to explore and has a horseshoe pit. Our family has rented using VRBO numerous times and understand what makes a home a fabulous place to vacation. We have done our best to ensure this experience for our guests.
Tahoe Donner is our favorite place for families in the Tahoe area. Please visit the Tahoe Donner website for daily updates on special events and activities as well as information on the numerous amenities available to our guests. **PLEASE NOTE: MANY AMENITIES REQUIRE A DAY USE FEE. NEW POLICY as of 1/1/2025: Guests must notify owner in advance to be registered to use private amenities. Tahoe Donner no longer uses transferable guest cards. Owners must name guests intending to use facilities using the new registration process. If you do not arrange to use amenities in advance, you will not have access. In the summer spend your days hiking, biking or horseback riding on the extensive TD trail system, enjoying the private beach for homeowners and registered guests at Donner Lake, swimming in 3 pools/ hot tubs, golfing, playing tennis. At Northwoods clubhouse enjoy movie nights, dining at Pizza on the Hill on the fire-pit warmed patios while your kids play on the play structure a few feet away. BBQ and play Bocce Ball or sand volleyball. Your possibilities are endless--plan on good times, fun people, and treasured memories. We keep notes on the various hikes and swimming holes we discover and enjoy sharing the information with guests.
In the winter, teach your kids to ski at Donner's own beginning/ intermediate ski hill. What it lacks in terrain, it makes up for in price! The cross country ski center is one of the most extensive in the area. There is also a fun sledding hill. Our home is approximately 15 miles from Northstar resort as well as proximate to Squaw, Alpine, Sugar Bowl and Boreal. Snowshoeing right out the backdoor is our dog's choice activity!
Part of the town of Truckee, our home is a short drive to historic downtown complete with restaurants and shopping as well as summer concert series.
Our comfortable cabin is the perfect center from which to explore it all!

About the host
Hosted by Erin Robbins
A few years ago our family experienced a surprising bump on our life path when our then 4 year old daughter was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease alopecia areata. Alopecia areata is a common, non-contagious autoimmune disease where the body confuses the hair follicle as a foreign substance (like a germ), attacks it and causes hair loss. Alopecia progresses differently for each individual and can cause patch hair loss all the way to total baldness. As well, hair can regrow at any time only to be lost again. In our daughter's case, she lost all her hair and is a fabulously beautiful, brave, adventurous and BALD 7-yr-old! Though we all went through an adjustment period, we arrived at a place where we all celebrate how unique our daughter's situation is and concluded that being bald would never limit her life possibilities, rather serve as a reminder of how special she is. Everyday our daughter takes risks and shows courage--just walking into a restaurant with every eye following you and every child (often loudly) asking about the girl with no hair, requires this. In the spirit of our daughter's inspiring bravery and confidence, we all began living life and making choices differently. Our recent purchase of this home is one way in which we follow our daughter's example, take risks, and follow a 'no excuses' philosophy to living our dreams and passions. If a 7-yr-old who faces the world bald and so very different can do it, can't we? Can't you?
