About this property

Castle Rock Hideaway close to Big Sky

This 2-bedroom house w/ additional sleeping loft in the Gallatin Canyon is perfect for your stay. We are halfway between Bozeman and Big Sky (16 miles), with an incredible view of Castle Rock. Drive South an hour+ and you will be in Yellowstone. Across the road you can go whitewater rafting or ziplining. There are so many options of activities and places to eat. We have a welcome guide on our counter for you to look through and get ideas. Driving either north or south on the 191, you will find great fishing.

About our place: Each of the two bedrooms has a king bed and two closets, as well as a chest of drawers. There are also two full bathrooms with towels, soap, and a hairdryer (please bring your own shampoo/conditioner). We have stocked our kitchen with many extras, and even a good assortment of spices for you to use. By the kitchen is the dining table and spaces for 6, as well as the sitting area with comfortable leather sofas and a great view. Upstairs in the loft, is where we have the smart TV, and a variety of games to play when you feel like it. The loft has 2 single pull-outs, as well as a smaller sectional sofa. Downstairs there is a laundry room for your use, along with the detergent we would like you to use at no cost.

Our place has excellent Wi-Fi, thanks to Starlink. We will provide that information upon arrival.

Our place does not have AC (which is fine for most of the year). However, if it gets really hot outside (90+), there are directions in the cabin-home on what windows to open in the AM's and when, and plenty of fans to let run throughout the day to cool things off.

Please note that this property has outdoor security cameras that point in different directions. None of them are pointed towards any windows, etc. Their only purpose is to monitor the surrounding area outside of our place between stays. Rest assured that they are turned off during guest stays.

Experience the Gallatin Canyon and what it has to offer with a stay at our place.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

What a beautiful place on the gallatin river! The views of the mountains and river are spectacular. Our family of four had a great time relaxing in this home over the holiday weekend. It had everything we needed! We will definitely be back.

Great property close to the Gallatin river. The place was clean and the owner was very communicative. He even checked in to make sure we didn’t need anything.

(10/10) - An Absolutely Flawless Montana Escape! We just returned from a three-night stay at the Castle Rock Getaway in Gallatin County, and it was, without a doubt, one of our best vacation experiences ever. This place deserves more than five stars! The house itself was immaculate, incredibly clean, and perfectly designed for comfort, blending modern amenities with rustic Montana charm. The views are simply breathtaking—we spent hours just looking at the stunning scenery. The location is unbeatable; it’s perfectly situated midway between Bozeman and Big Sky, making it easy to enjoy the best of both, yet secluded enough for peace and quiet.Highlights: The proximity to hiking and mountain biking trails is phenomenal, offering an abundance of outdoor activities right outside the door. We were even treated to the sight of bison at a local ranch nearby!Host Excellence: The host communication was outstanding. From coordination before arrival to providing clear instructions, everything was seamless and made our stay stress-free.If you are looking for the perfect Montana getaway, this is it. We cannot wait to return!

As described but left out some important privacy details we didn’t feel comfortable with. This home has multiple cameras that’s were not disclosed in the listing. One that was pointed towards the living room and bedroom area was strange. The living room did not have a window covering to block the camera the bedroom did, however as a mountain getaway we didn’t expect to have to have the blinds closed for privacy. We didn’t even feel comfortable sitting on the deck because the camera light would come on and record pointing directly at us it just felt weird to us. If they had disclosed they had cameras for security and didn’t have them pointing inside the unit we’d have understood but then to arrive and have them where they could view inside the home was disturbing to us. Counters were concrete and they had strict guidelines of care and didn’t want water on them for any length of time. Just a little too high maintenance for us looking for a mountain getaway. They do have a TV although just on the 3rd floor, the upstairs room couches up there were not quality and comfortable as the leather ones downstairs. Views were beautiful but noise from the hwy was easily heard. We never heard from the owner after talking to Vrbo about the undisclosed cameras witch as a host myself I find very odd. Wish it was more private in more than one way overall. We will choose a different property if we come back to visit.

We are sorry that you found our place not as you thought. We do have 4 security cameras up in place to detect anyone trying to enter between stays. When guests are are over, they are always turned off. We do have one large TV in the loft, and a sectional sofa, along with pull-outs. We are going to purchase a larger sectional this summer for up there. As far as the countertops, we just ask that people take care of them, and provide the black washcloth on each for any spills.

Castle Rock Hideaway is exactly what you’d hope for in a Montana retreat—beautifully styled with warm mountain character, thoughtfully appointed, and incredibly clean. The view from the home is nothing short of stunning, with expansive sights that shift beautifully with the light throughout the day. Whether you’re relaxing with coffee on the porch or winding down after a day out, it’s a perfect setting to soak it all in.The location is ideal for anyone looking to explore the outdoors. You’re just minutes from some of the best hiking, fishing, and scenic drives in the area—Yellowstone, Big Sky, and the Gallatin River are all at your fingertips.Inside, the space is exceptionally well set up. Every detail feels intentional, from the furnishings to the kitchen essentials, making it feel both homey and high-quality. And the host? Absolutely top-notch—communicative, kind, and clearly committed to creating a great experience. The only caveat is some road noise from Highway 191, which runs nearby. It’s not overpowering, but worth knowing if you’re a very light sleeper or looking for total silence. That said, I would absolutely recommend Castle Rock Hideaway to anyone looking to escape into a beautiful, well-equipped space with incredible access to nature.

This was by far the cleanest home we have stayed in!! It is fairly new. The home is lovely, had everything we needed, great location to Bozeman & Big Sky and lots of summer activities. It was about an hour from the West Yellowstone entrance - this was a beautiful drive and super easy. You can hear the road noise, but any home along the road in the canyon can hear it. I bet winter is quieter because of snow. It didn’t bother us. If you come in the warmer weeks when you need the windows open, just bring a sound machine for sleeping. If you hate noise and are looking for a secluded cabin, then you need to look for a home far away from 191 and not in the canyon. 191 is busy and the canyon bounces the sound around. But the convenience of staying on 191 was so nice! Especially in summer when you are bouncing around from activities. Everything was easy to get to. Be sure to do your grocery shopping at the Albertsons in Bozeman, the market in Big Sky is very high - like any ski town would be. We appreciated the spices in the kitchen & laundry detergent. The kitchen was well equipped (we have stayed in some that have not been). We recommend, Bozeman Kayak Co, Montana Whitewater (across the road from the house), and taking the lift up to the top of Lone Peak in Big Sky. Lava Lake Trail is a challenging hike, so maybe choose something different if not a regular hiker. Overall, our family recommends this home and would stay again if we come back to the area.
