The acorn in a cute little cottage on beautiful Mountain View lake. The cottage had everything we needed for our stay. The host was responsive, friendly and gave great recommendations for area hikes and activities.
What a charming stay in a vintage cottage, lovingly updated. The views of the lake are spectacular and accessible. Lots to do from this starting point but I decided to kick back and relax - a perfect spot!
This vintage 1940’s cabin is so cozy and charming. Carolyn our host, did a wonderful job in updating the kitchen and remodeling the upstairs. Carolyn also stopped by to welcome us and to see if there was anything we needed. Bellow is just on view across the lake from our dock. The absolute best place to be for sunrise coffee and sunset cocktails. The next time we come out for autumn leaf peeping this is where we’ll stay. Thanks again Carolyn for making your place such a great space for us. George & Brad
We stayed here as a family of four (plus our dog), and it was exactly the kind of peaceful escape we were hoping for. The house has such cute, rustic charm. Totallycozy and welcoming, but with the modern touches you need (WiFi).We especially loved early morning paddles on the lake, watching the sunrise over the mountains- absolutely stunning. Coffee on the enclosed porch was our daily ritual, and our dog loved sunbathing on the dock. The location is also incredibly convenient- just a few minutes to Newbury and Sunapee for anything you might need.Carolyn was amazing from start to finish. Her communication was proactive and thoughtful, she even checked in during our stay to make sure we had enough drinking water and to see if we needed anything else.Highly recommend this spot for families, couples, or anyone looking for a quiet place to unwind.
Photos do not tell the true story. Most of the sleeping space is up a narrow (no rail) (my shoulders brushed the walls) previous attic space that includes two queen and futon type beds. One cannot imagine the hassle of carrying any luggage up those stairs where most of the party staying will need to do. No privacy. the queens are not in separate rooms. Hidden Lake Water requirements. The description does not tell one all requirements of Mountain View lake, unfiltered (has smell) house water. This was made known by host meeting shortly after arrival. No brushing teeth, bleach required for all dishes....but you can shower in it? so she said. The 2 page requirements were given at that time but not in listing. Parking: only one car could park without jockying vehicles. A power boat in the way. Heating: out of order - early lower temperatures required use of space heaters only. None for upstairs. When not happy with home she would not give partial refund. We were only there first night of 4 night booking to find another place. Disaster!!

Sadly, a vintage, seasonal lake cottage is not the best choice for everyone! This review is especially disappointing because every effort was made to provide a comfortable stay and a partial refund was given for the incomplete stay (despite being threatened with a “bad review” in an attempt to coerce a full refund).
Greeting part of the group upon arrival, I offered to provide additional space heaters as it was chilly for Labor Day and they were from Arizona and “freezing” and to move the boat across the street (it is not normally there but had a trailer issue), but was assured neither was necessary.
The “two pages of instructions” include local emergency and WiFi info, suggested area activities, customary end-of-stay requests, as well as the noted reminder on safe practices when using lake water to wash dishes instead of the gallons of spring water provided.
