Nearby towns include Dahlonega, site of the nation’s first gold rush; Jasper, located in the Georgia Marble Belt; Ellijay, the apple capital of Georgia; Blue Ridge, with its scenic railway, and Dawsonville, famous for racing drivers and moonshine. Attractions include rafting on the Chestatee, Etowah, Amicalola, and Coosawattee rivers, hunting and fishing, biking, and hiking.
