About this property
"Casa di Leo" Bright And Romantic House Surrounded by Medieval Walls and Pool
“Casa di Leo” Holiday Home is a big, wonderful and a bit Romantic house and it is located in Belforte, a small and delightful characteristic medieval village just 3 km away from Radicondoli. Thanks to its strategic position on a hilltop, Belforte was founded as military fortress by the Romans. Largely preserved today, the walls which surround the village are in the care of Commission for the Architectural and Landscape Heritage for the Province of Siena . The latest written information about the village dates from 1215. The Holiday Home is ideal for families, groups of friends or simply perfect for people who desire to spend a relaxing holiday in the lap of nature and art, among the beautiful and sweet Tuscan hills. The Holiday Home is very big (200 sm) and it was largely reorganized in 2012. Building materials have been well-chosen, according both to quality and naturalness. Work and hand-painted Italian ceramics were used both in the big bathroom on the first floor and in the little one in the mansard; the parquet, which covers the whole area, has been totally made in Italy, it is natural and completely absent of further artificial treatments. All that has been done according to a philosophy which favours quality over quantity.
The house is organized on three different floors. On the lower floor there is a big typical taverna with wooden-beamed ceiling: there is a big living room with sofas, armchairs and TV, ideal for parties, for enjoying a film in front of the huge fireplace during the cold winter, or even just for playing board games with friends. Here it is also possible to find some local geographical maps and a big bookcase, if you want to relax and read a bit, and there is also a little musicians corner with piano and a guitar, so that musicians can feel at home and play. The first floor is the bigger and main one. Here there is a wide living room, a modern kitchen, a dining room, three bright bedrooms and two bath rooms. On the second floor there is a bath room and the biggest bedroom of Leo’s house; in front of this one there is a panoramic terrace/solarium overlooking the amazing landscape. The house is surrounded by a huge neat garden (700 sm) with flowers and fruit trees (cheery, apricot, plum, grape, apple and pear trees), two wonderful pergolas and a new swimming-pool! This one has been built in full compliance with the natural environment and the surrounding walls (in the care of Commission for the Architectural and Landscape Heritage). Near the swimming pool, there is an area with sunbeds, beach umbrellas and chairs. Animals are, as general rule, welcome! Casa di Leo’s owners are a young and friendly couple, active and efficient, always ready to help you to make your stay unforgettable. They both speak good English and French and are always available not only to give you simple information and suggestion, but trying to transmit you love and passion for such wonderful places, hoping that you could also fall in love with them.

Our family of 5 enjoyed every minute of trip to Tuscany and our stay at Leo’s place was wonderful.Leo was excellent at communicating and made us feel very welcomed in his beautiful house.
The homeowners, Leo went above and beyond to make us feel at home. We arrived later than we were originally planning. Leo was very gracious and welcomed us there when we arrived. He walked us through the home to show us our an accommodations and made himself available throughout or stay. A folder was provided with recommendations for what was around the area to visit. The kitchen was fully stocked and all the essentials for cooking a meal were provided. The home was clean and we felt very at home for our entire stay. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it for a layed back get away.
What an awesome place. Lovely house and backyard with pool. Leo is friendly , helpful and welcoming . Belforte is a small , quiet hilltop village but it is very accessible (by car) to other awesome spots- Siena, San Gimignano , Volterra and others. Highly recommended

BELFORTE Stay
Property itself was great, problem was construction all around us that created noise and dust all around us. Noise started early morning and woke us up. We will follow up with VRBO.I contacted VRBO last week but have not received a call back.

your review is bizarre to say the least. you gave 2 stars but you say that the structure is fantastic.
about the works around the house we said that it was not my fault as they are works of the country that do not depend on me.
The guests who preceded you have (as per the previous reviews) understood the inconvenience but have not for this reason lost the opportunity to enjoy the house, the nearby places, the nature and the nearby cities in short enjoy their holidays.
I apologized several times for the inconvenience but we agreed together that it was not in my power to intervene in works that affect the country. you were also unlucky because the WORKS AROUND THE STRUCTURE ENDS FRIDAY 11 JULY. 2025.
Therefore not understanding if the 2 stars are for the works or for the lack of a response from Vrbo despite this, I RENEW MY APOLOGIES thank you for having been my guests and for having perhaps inadvertently given 2 stars to a structure that you defined as fantastic.

We loved the villa but maybe loved the outdoor spaces even more! The gardens were super impressive with an amazing view! Leo was very helpful arranging all the things we wanted to do like a cooking class at the house, truffle hunting with dogs, and a driver recomendation to visit wineries and other small Tuscan towns. You will need a car to pop around but there was a small market in town as well as a restaurant that helped us on days we did not leave Belforte. It is a very comfortable space for 6-7 people and really made our trip to Tuscany special !
Everything you have read or can read about this property and it’s amazing owners is true. The property itself is spectacular, a truly unique place where the pictures can’t really do the beauty of the estate justice. The owners, Leo and Alessandra were an absolute joy to work with and we’re so accommodating of everything we needed throughout our stay.
If you’re looking to explore Tuscany, this is a fantastic home base that is 45 mins to an hour away for a number of great cities and experiences.
A must stay and a place we absolutely plan on returning to shortly!
We stayed a week as a family in this fabulous home, literally a window onto the range of roman and medieval history in Tuscany. Our host was attentive, and informative and the definition of gracious. If anything, the pictures posted of the property simply do not do it justice, from the facade and interior to the gardens and walks in the countryside. We could not have asked for a better, more comfortable and serene visit.
This beautiful villa is in the small amazing village of Belforte, perfectly central to see the best areas of Tuscany. Leo was a great host, met us outside on the street to help us find the house and kept in touch to see if we needed anything. The Villa has everything you would ever need, is beautifully decorated and large - so great for being able to spread out and have private times or eat together in or outside. They have thought of every possible need. The beds were very comfortable. We loved our time there and would love to come back with more friends again,

Disa, thank you sooo much , unfortunately during your stay I had days full of work and the move of my house, I didn't really have time to spend more time with you.
Obviously you have to go back .
Say ciao to Katrina.
We had a wonderful stay at Casa de Leo in Tuscany. The gardens and pool in the backyard are stunning The small village of Belforte is charming and remote. It does require extra drive time to get to other major hill towns.
The house is very comfortable and well-equipped. Leo is a fantastic host that was responsive, helpful and keeps the house in great condition. It is laid out over 3 levels and the upper level can only be reached from outside.
Overall I recommend this property.
Our family stayed at Leo’s incredible place for 3 nights and had the most amazing time! It is located within the walls of a castle which is now a small hamlet. Leo and his chef friend Luana cooked a delicious dinner for us on our first night there.. what a perfect way to start our family vacation! We explored nearby Siena and the Chianti region and came back each night and played games in the comfortable den downstairs by a roaring fire! Our only regret was that it was not long enough! Thank you, Leo, for such a magical time!
We could not have had a better stay (or a better host) for this trip with my elderly parents. The house is wonderful and easily sleeps 6-8 with privacy and comfort. We cooked and ate most meals at home and the kitchen is exceptionally well set up.
Leo (the host) is one of the nicest people we have met: generous, informative and genuinely interested in solving any issues that arose. We had a pump failure in the heating one morning and he got it fixed within a few hours.
Cannot recommend more highly.
Our, five retirees, stay at Casa di Leo for 10 nights was absolutory delightful. The villa was very spacious with various gathering places inside and multiple garden areas outside to enjoy. The whole villa was well equipped and immaculately clean! Belforte is a small walled medieval village with a single restaurant serving the best pizza and a tabacchi shop (small convenience store) where we were warmly greeted each day when we shopped for essentials like bread, eggs and milk. Leo our host was attentive and responsive starting with a personal greeting and tour of the property upon arrival, providing answers to our questions during our visit and a quick stop by before we left. Our stay at Casa di Leo will be among the best memories from our time in Italy. Definity a five star stay.

Fabulous Tuscan Getaway
Casa di Leo was everything we had hoped for and more. The 1000 year old villa is charming, but with all the modern conveniences. Leo and Allesandra were delightful hosts who went out of their way to make us feel at home. The farewell dinner they prepared for us was not only delicious but loads of fun too. Belforte is a charming little town and it was great to have a cafe just steps away. Florence, San Gimignano and Sienna are all within reasonable driving distance for interesting day trips. The gardens and patios of Casa di Leo are beautiful. The fourth bedroom suite is separate from the other three and were a perfect spot for our relations who visited overnight, providing them their own private retreat. Thanks so much Leo.

Casa di Leo is a perfect Tuscan vacation home.
Leo and Alessandra have created a warm, lovely and restful home that made it possible to love our family vacation from day one. They welcomed us and shared their hosting priority that we would be in Italy and enjoy ourselves. They added much to our vacation time with ideas and enhanced maps of our planned area visits and as good hosts do, they also made suggestions of visits we didn't know to make. Their suggestions turned out to be some of the highlights of our ten days in Tuscany. We took advantage of Chef Luana and Alessandra for two evening meals cooked in 'our' home and we were given absolutely beautiful food, both in taste and presentation. We cannot thank Leo and Alessandra and Belforte enough for a holiday time that was close to perfect for all five of us. Grazie, grazie!

Beautiful historic house in a rustic charming village.
House with three floors and a big garden with three terrace. Pently of space to find a nice spot.
The house is nicely decorated and has everything you need.
Only one thing we didn't like was the barking of the dogs in the neighborhood who apperently belong to a sheep farmer. They started barking when it got dark and kept barking all night long. Since we wanted to keep the windows open because it was quite warm, we used earplugs at night to sleep.
It's a shame the people in this beautiful Village have to keep up with such a nuisent farmer.
We had a wonderful experience at "Casa di Leo"! My wife, our children and my wife's father (6 of us) traveled from the U.S. to visit our son who is studying abroad in Siena. Belforte is about 50 minutes from Siena. The house was set up perfectly for us, probably even more space than we needed. The view from the backyard is breathtaking. Belforte is a bit remote which made us experience Italy as the locals instead of a tourist and gave us a true taste of Italy. Leo (the owner) could not have been more helpful throughout the entire process, both before we arrived, and while we were there. He had great advice for things to do and places to go, as well as a recommendation for a driver (Federico), who was also terrific for our long excursions including winery tours. We had a once-in-a-lifetime experience that we will cherish always.
We so enjoyed our nine nights at Leo’s beautiful place in Belforte. This is a tiny Medieval town at the top of the mountain. So quiet except for the church bells, and occasional kids running through the town.
A nice retreat from the business of other Tuscany tourist attractions. The home is very spacious with four bedrooms and large outdoor gathering areas . Fruit trees and grape vines in the yard add to the ambiance . The kitchen was well equipped, with everything one would need and the bathrooms are great!
Although there was no air conditioning, between the windows open and the fans, we were just fine when the temperature was high and cozy when it dropped.. The one store in town had everything we needed and we enjoyed the restaurant several times. Leo was always there to answer questions or help us if we needed something. He has a book with lots of recommendations as well. The house is situated up a winding road with a beautiful views of another Hilltown, Radicondolli, which is only about five minutes away, driving. Another fun place to visit! Our friends who came to visit were blown away by the beauty of Leo’s plqce!
Our group of 6 adults thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful villa located in the remote medieval village of Belforte in the Tuscan hills. The villa was nicely decorated, comfortable, clean and well-equipped with all the modern conveniences one would expect. There were multiple outdoor garden seating areas where we enjoyed sipping wine, eating grapes off the arbor and listening to the birds chirping and church bells ringing. We arranged to have a chef prepared home cooked meal for our first night in the villa. A perfect and delicious way to start off our stay! The people of Belforte were very friendly and we enjoyed walking the cobblestone streets admiring the views and medieval buildings. There are very limited dining and shopping options in Belforte and a vehicle is an absolute necessity. It is a 15 minute drive to the town of Radicondoli which has several excellent restaurants. The villa is nicely situated for day trips to Siena, San Gimignano, Florence and surrounding Tuscan wineries. While the roads to the villa are a bit curvy, it forces you to slow down and enjoy the beautiful views.
We thoroughly relaxed and enjoyed our stay at Casa di Leo and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to family and friends. We hope to return one day. Thank you to Leo and Alessandra for sharing their beautiful home and making our week’s visit so fantastic.
Our stay in this villa was wonderful. Communication with our hosts Leo and Alessandra was terrific before and during our stay. Leo met us at the house during check-in and took the time to walk thru and explain everything to us. We had a wonderful cooking class the Alessandra and Luana with some assistance from Leo. It was a lot of fun and the food was excellent. The property is beautiful with many sitting areas, lovely flowers and landscaping. It was so peaceful we didn't want to leave although we did visit the numerous hilltop ancient towns nearby. The house is large and very well stocked with all essentials, cookware etc. In Belforte there is a small grocery shop and small restaurant with great views very close to the villa. Highly recommend staying at the lovely home.
Herzlichen Dank, lieber Leo!

About the host
Hosted by Leo & Alessandra
Alessandra and Leo were born in Turin, in the north west of Italy. They came in Tuscany in 1993 and they simply fell in love with the magic landscape of the region. They love art and nature: she's a painter and he's an actor and they are always avaiable to give information and advice.
Why they chose this property
This property was bought in 2011 by the owners. The House was on sale and the first time we saw it, we were struck by the elegance and the peculiarities of the villa. What we particularly liked is the garden: from the outside of the house, it was not possible to imagine how wonderful and spacious it was.
What makes this property unique
The guests of Casa di Leo can have the possibility to enjoy a wonderful and relaxing holiday, according to their needs. On the one hand, they can decide to spend a restful time in a private, comfortable and spacious Holiday Home; on the other hand, they can choose to have an alternative holiday, travelling around the region, visiting historical and art cities and discoverinf natural areas of Tuscany.
