- Sleeps 4 | 2 bedrooms | 2 beds | 1 bath
- Hot tub & fire pit for year‑round relaxation
- Indoor fireplace & Smart TV for cozy evenings
- Fully equipped kitchen & dining space
- Deck, patio & BBQ grill with outdoor seating
- Pet-friendly & family-ready
The Space:
Cool mountain air drifts through the trees as you step onto the porch, the quiet broken only by the rustle of leaves and distant bird calls. Inside, the glow of the indoor fireplace invites you to unwind while the Smart TV offers a cozy backdrop for movie nights. After a day of exploring, the hot tub steams invitingly under a crisp West Virginia sky, promising a soothing end to each evening.
Sleeping arrangements
Two private bedrooms comfortably sleep up to four guests. The main‑level bedroom features a king bed, while the upper‑level bedroom offers a queen bed. A full bathroom serves both rooms, providing convenient access for couples, families, or a small group.
Living space
The bright, two‑story living area flows effortlessly from the open loft to the dining and kitchen zones. Comfortable seating surrounds the fireplace, perfect for board games, quiet conversation, or simply watching the flames dance. Central heating keeps the space warm throughout the colder months, and the Smart TV is ready for streaming or video calls.
Kitchen & dining
A fully equipped kitchen lets you prepare meals with ease, and the adjacent dining table seats everyone for shared meals, card games, or a warm cup of coffee. The layout encourages gathering around the stove or table, making indoor evenings as inviting as the outdoors.
Outdoor living
Step onto the spacious deck or patio to breathe in fresh mountain air. String lighting casts a gentle glow after sunset, while the fire pit offers a place to roast s’mores and share stories. The hot tub is available year‑round, especially inviting during cooler weather. A BBQ grill and outdoor seating let you dine al fresco when conditions allow.
Family and pet‑friendly touches
Children’s books, toys, dinnerware, and board games are provided for family fun. The home welcomes dogs and includes a pet‑friendly policy; cats are not allowed due to allergies. A private entrance and generous outdoor space make traveling with little ones or four‑legged companions easy.
Location & surroundings
Nestled in Rio, West Virginia, the cabin sits about ten minutes from Bryce Resort and within easy reach of state parks, scenic trails, and charming mountain towns. Winter visitors enjoy peaceful drives, nearby hiking, and the quiet charm of the region without crowds.
Good to know
Wi‑Fi is included and works well for streaming and video calls, though speeds may vary because of the remote mountain setting. The natural environment means you may notice leaves, pollen, or other outdoor elements on decks and walkways, especially in certain seasons.
Perfect for
Couples seeking a cozy winter retreat, families looking for space to unwind together, or a small group wanting a peaceful base near Bryce Resort. Whether you’re soaking in the hot tub under clear night skies or relaxing fireside indoors, the setting encourages rest, warmth, and quality time.

About the host
Hosted by Tony Cappaert
I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.
What makes this property unique
We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and Red Feather Cottage in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cottage is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
