Historic One Room Log Cabin

Nestled in the beautiful Jordan River Valley, this cozy cabin is a writer's dream. Located seven miles from Mancelona, this woodsy retreat provides easy access to hiking, fishing, canoeing, and skiing. Shorts Brewery, and their famous craft beer, is a fifteen minute drive to downtown Bellaire. Traverse City and Petoskey are just forty-five minutes away.
The cabin is located on on a old turn of the century farm, it sits across the yard, maybe 40 feet from the main house. I am the only person on the property and park and enter from the back of the house away from the cabin. Giving people their privacy is a priority for me. The cabin sits on a crossroad of two county dirt roads. The cabin is on a dead end road. There is some traffic, this would not be considered remote or totally secluded but is a pretty quiet peaceful location. Across the street there is a old one room schoolhouse that the owner does spend some time at through the summer. There is another home down the road a bit but not visible from the cabin. The cabin is surrounded by tall maple trees and old farm gardens.
The Jordan River Valley is part of the Mackinaw State Forest and is truly one of the most beautiful wilderness areas in northern Michigan. Its river was the very first to be designated as a wild and scenic river by the Federal government. The Jordan River Pathway provides 18 miles of trails and is part of the North Country National Scenic Trail.
Winter note, the fireplace shown in the photo is not operational at this time. There are plans in the works but the heater for the cabin sets in the fireplace space as of now.
