THE ASPEN TREEHOUSE EXPERIENCE Aspen Treehouse is not your typical vacation rental. It’s the culmination of a lifetime of dreams, memories, and stories. That’s why it’s filled with your hosts’ personal photographs, paintings and artifacts that span generations. The exquisite unique architectural details of this three bedroom three-and-a-half bath custom home show an attention to detail rarely found ina mountain retreat. And that’s just what you’ll find inside.
Aspen Treehouse shares a stand of aspen with all sorts of local critters, from deer and elk to chipmunks and rabbits, along with a wide assortment of feathered friends. You might even get lucky and see an occasional moose munching on some of the young aspen surrounding the house. For those who want to meditate while connecting with nature, a labyrinth winds its way through the aspen just a few steps from the front door.
The Aspen Treehouse property is ideally situated in the heart of South Park, surrounded by the spectacular Colorado Rockies. On the short drive from Highway 285, you’ll drive by ranches that have been in operation for well over a century. The continental divide is so close, it feels like you can almost touch it. Dozens of National Forest hiking and biking trails, suitable for a broad range of abilities and ambitions, are just a short drive away. Jefferson Lake, a popular destination for anglers, campers, and picnickers, is nearby. South Park is also one of Colorado’s most popular fly-fishing destinations.
If history is your thing, South Park is a great place to step back in time. The nearby town of Como, once a bustling center for the narrow-gauge railroads that wound their way to and from Colorado’s gold and silver mines, boasts a roundhouse and depot that date back to the 19th Century. Just a 20-minute drive away is Fairplay, a quintessential Colorado town that was born because there was “gold in them thar hills.” There you’ll find unique shops, restaurants and galleries that have endured the test of time. On the north end of town, you can explore South Park City Museum, a 19th Century mining town in 21 st Century Colorado.
The Aspen Treehouse experience is about blending the old with the new. The rich heritage of days gone by with the comforts and conveniences of modern living.
This is indeed a very special place. That’s why the owners still spend a fair amount of time here. (And why the kitchen is so well equipped and stocked.) When they can’t be here, though, they are eager to share it with those who truly appreciate what they’ve spent decades creating … an exquisitely designed mountain home nestled in one of the most beautiful natural settings in Colorado. It’s where they have chosen to create and share their memories and stories. And where you can create and share some of your own.
