Truly in the heart of medieval Sarlat, La Pivione is a spacious self-catering one bedroom/one bath apartment. Located in a stunning 16th century stone town-house, this apartment is located on the second floor.

This grand apartment is bright and airy with high ceilings, with a spacious lounge which features a grand fireplace and the bonus of a balcony perfect for a glass of wine or two whilst watching the world go by. The apartment also provides a large bedroom, bathroom and fully equipped kitchen providing everything for a self-catering stay. Parking close by. Free WiFi. The apartment sleeps two. This apartment was a destination in itself! We enjoyed the centuries old “great room” with its balcony overlooking a juncture of small streets in the historical district. The apartment is well maintained and furnished. The remodeling of the large kitchen and bathroom is super lovely and meticulously done to a high standard. You will not be disappointed booking a stay in this prime location!

Excellent home base for visit to Sarlat and the Dordogne

Located in the heart of the medieval town. Busy with tourists during day and evening, however, early morning or late evening, wonderful area to wander. Steven met us upon arrival making check in easy. Directed us to a free car park five minute walk from apartment. Hope to return to Sarlat one day and would stay here again. Highly recommend.

Stay in Sarlat

We stayed at The Pivione for a week and had a wonderful time the location of the apartment in Sarlat was fantastic. An easy walk to everything even the free parking is just a 5 minute walk away. we had a great time shopping in the markets, cooking and relaxing in the amazing kitchen, and enjoying a glass of wine on the balcony that overlooks a beautiful historic street watching the world go by. Would very much like to return to Sarlat one day and would defiantly stay here again. Highly recommend.

Comfortable

A very spacious and comfortable property in the heart of the old town. I imagine in peak season it would be very noisy. The only point I would make is the pillows on the bed were thin and old and in need of replacing. Otherwise no expense has been spared, washing machine and dryer and fully equipped kitchen made the stay almost perfect!

The perfect place in Sarlat old town

We looked forward to staying in this flat for awhile and were not disappointed. We found that it had all of the charm of the old town. It's nicely furnished, new appliances with a balcony over the square for lunch or evening wine. There was a handy notebook with good information and many pamphlets with info for cave and castle hopping. Check in and out with Steve the manager.was easily arranged. Thank you Mark and Sharon

Perfect apartment in the center of town

This apartment is amazing! The property itself is perfect. It is inviting, enchanting, and very well equipped! I could live here. The apartment is right in the center of the old part of town and is actually very quiet at night. Cannot think of anything that needs to be improved. Loved sitting on the balcony overlooking everything! Thank you Mark and Sharon for allowing us to enjoy your place. We hope to be back soon!

Exceeded Expectations in Every Way

We stayed 6 days at this VRBO in the center of Sarlat. The description of the property does not do it justice. It is much larger than we expected with every amenity first class. The location is the best in Sarlat. An easy walk to everything. Even the free parking is just a 5 minute walk away. From the heating to the kitchen utilities the appliances are top notch. The property manager met us on time and gave us all we needed to enjoy the appartment and the town. If you are considering a visit to Sarlat, rush to book this property before it is sold out

A wonderful experience!

This apartment is grand, spacious, full of character snd very well-equipped with a wonderful kitchen, beautiful bathroom and very comfortable bed. The living area is huge and overlooks one of the loveliest and liveliest squares in beautiful Sarlat. If you are keen to immerse yourself in the life of the Périgord, this is an ideal base. The amazing twice weekly markets are on your doorstep and St Sacerdos cathedral is right next door. The tourist office is very close as are the supermarket, all kinds of food shops selling local produce and many other enticing shops. You will be drawn to the little balcony to watch the passing parade and drink in the beauty of the honey-coloured medieval buildings. Because of its location there is some noise at night from passers-by and live music - but closing the window or popping in some earplugs deals with most of it. Check-in and communication were excellent. Highly recommend La Pivoine.

Great Summer Stay

We stayed for 4 days and really enjoyed our time in the apartment. Great time shopping in the markets, cooking in the large kitchen and eating /relaxing on the fantastic balcony that overlooks a beautiful historic street. Great communicative hosts and easy/efficient check-in and check-out. Overall a comfortable and lovely historic apartment in a great part of the city. Highly Recommend!

Falsche Angaben und unfreundliche Kommunikation

Unsere Erfahrung war leider weniger gut als die der meisten hier: Die Kommunikation mit den Vermietern war missverständlich, und aufgrund unklarer Ankunftszeit drohte man uns mit erfundenen Zusatzgebühren oder damit, uns am Abend nicht mehr hereinzulassen. Sehr ärgerlich ist, dass die Wohnung (trotz entsprechender Angabe!) über keinen Parkplatz verfügt, und es in Sarlat extrem schwierig ist, einen Parkplatz zu finden. Auch sonst wurden die Erwartungen nicht erfüllt: Das Waschbecken war verstopft, die Wohnung mittelmäßig sauber, das Internet funktionierte nicht richtig, und in der Wohnung ist es aufgrund der Lage sehr laut. Die Wohnung ist typisch amerikanisch eingerichtet mit großer Küche und hochwertigen Geräten, aber etwas mangelhafter Ausstattung und wenig Liebe zum Detail. Das Bad ist älter, das Bett relativ wackelig, man kann nicht so gemütlich sitzen. Die Wohnung liegt mitten im Ort, was bedeutet, dass es von morgens bis nachts relativ laut ist und sich große Menschengruppen unter dem Balkon vorbeischieben. Von uns leider keine Empfehlung.

A Special Place!!!

We have just spent two weeks in this wonderful property. You feel like you are living in living in a Medieval Castle. Sarlat is one of the most unique cities in Europe. It looks like the 16th century with modern conveniences. Mark and Sharon are the perfect landlords keeping you highly informed about every possible detail. Your contact in Sarlat is Steve and he is excellent also. The apartment has a balcony that looks out over the square in Sarlat where you can watch all the excitement of the weekly markets. Mark and Sharon have updated the apartment with very modern bath and kitchen. We highly recommend this apartment and hope to return ourselves real soon.

Ideal location - Wrong time of year!

A superb flat, exactly as portrayed in publicity. However we were unaware that in July and August street entertainers are licensed to perform in front of cathedral until 11 pm, speakers blaring out music at full volume, frequently until much later. We therefore had the choice of closing bedroom windows in the stifling heat, or leaving them open and being unable to sleep because of the noise - The only downside, but a significant one - Pity!

A gem in the heart of Sarlat

La Pivoine is a wonderful,characterful apartment situated in the heart of Sarlat. The apartment is spacious, comfortable and beautifully presented and we totally relaxed and enjoyed all that Sarlat had to offer. Great place in great location.

We loved this place, located in a very old building with high ceilings and antique furniture. It is highly recommended. Best feature was one of the few balconies in town where we ate all our meals. There is also a large well equipped kitchen. From the balcony you look down on an old square with constant activity. We ended up eating most of meals at the place because of the setting. On market days we woke up to the wonderful smells of food being prepared under our window. The town of Sarlat is a charming old market town which still has markets on Saturday and Wednesday. It is close to many great sites in the Dordogne including prehistoric cave art, old castles, gardens, and quaint villages. We even canoed down the Dordogne. We will return. Mark and Sharon are wonderful hosts and very helpful.

Spacious,comfortable and in an excellent location

We had a wonderful week in this lovely property in the centre of medieval Sarlat. Check in instructions were easy to follow and communications with Steve were excellent. The apartment was very large, well appointed and airy. The bed was very comfortable and we enjoyed having the balcony area for drinks etc. The free car parking was only a short walk and perfectly safe. All in all we can thoroughly recommend this property.

It's all about the balcony!

We stayed in Sarlat for four nights at La Pivoine. It was fantastic. The apartment is very large and we thoroughly enjoyed staying here. The balcony was the best part--sitting there sipping wine and watching the world go by. Heaven. Everything is within walking distance--restaurants, wine stores etc. The location could not be better. Although, we only ate breakfasts here, it was great to have a fully equipped kitchen. We especially enjoyed having a washer and dryer as we had been traveling for about a week and half and needed to do laundry. Very convenient. The location could not be better. Their property manager met us right on time to give us the keys and review details of the apartment. We found parking nearby for free and that was not an issue for us. It's about a 5 minute walk away. We thoroughly enjoyed walking through the market on Saturday morning. There is an apartment above La Pivoine so at times you can hear people talking and walking around. You will not be disappointed if you stay here. They have thought of everything to make this a very special place to vacation.

Sharon and Mark have traveled the world together for thirty years. When they visited Sarlat, they fell in love with the yellow stone of its buildings. The people of Sarlat were so warm and friendly. Immediately, they knew they would live there. La Pivoine is their home in France.

Why they chose this property

Having fallen in love with Sarlat, Sharon and Mark searched for years to find just the right place. It was not enough to live in Sarlat -- the house had to be a home with character. It had to be in the historic center. It had to have the honey-colored stone of the city. On the cathedral square, La Pivoine is that home. Sharon and Mark hope that, when they must be away, you can enjoy the home and the city as much as they do.

What makes this property unique

La Pivoine is a large, light, space that is simultaneously airy and substantial. It is centrally located on the cathedral square and it has a balcony that overlooks the square, a rare thing in Sarlat. One can go for extended periods of time without a car. Sarlat has two wonderful market days each week -- Saturday and Wednesday -- right outside the front door. The train station is within walking distance.
