Valley View Vista Retreat — Milliken Estate, St. Kitts
Some places have a view. This one has a story.
Your home for this stay sits on Milliken Estate — a 300-year-old former sugar plantation on the slopes of Monkey Hill, named for the green monkeys that have roamed these hillsides for centuries. The same monkeys your guests on cruise ships pay to come and see. The same trail those cruise excursions follow to reach Sofa Stone. This is one of St. Kitts' most beloved attractions begins right here, on this land.
You won't be visiting this place. You'll be living in it.
The Apartment
At 1,500 sq. ft., this is one of the most spacious one-bedroom retreats on the island. Expansive living and dining areas, a large fully equipped kitchen, and a private balcony with open valley views give you the kind of room to breathe that most Caribbean rentals simply don't offer. This is a home you settle into...not a room you pass through.
The Estate
Step outside and the history is alive around you. Wild green monkeys make their morning foraging run through the hillside. Birds you won't hear anywhere else fill the air. Fresh mangoes, wax apples, coconuts and bananas grow on the property — help yourself.
We have an assortment of teas as well, except, these are growing just outside of your door.
The neighbourhood is completely traffic-free, quiet in a way that feels increasingly rare.
A short walk from your door, the trail to Sofa Stone rewards anyone with reasonable fitness will experience panoramic views of Basseterre, the sea, and the neighbouring islands stretching out 1,200 feet below. It's a morning well spent.
Come in January to March
If your visit falls between January and March, you're arriving at one of the most spectacular time of year. The Pink Cedar trees come into full bloom across the entire hillside, covering the estate and the valley below in a sweep of soft pink blossoms. It is genuinely one of the most beautiful natural spectacles on the island, and most tourists never see it.
The Island is Yours
Basseterre is 12 minutes away — close enough for everything, far enough to feel removed from it. A rental car opens the whole island to you: local shops, fresh fish on the roadside, hidden beaches, historic sites and roads that wind through landscapes unchanged for generations. This is St. Kitts as it actually is, not as it's packaged.
Fast WiFi · Full kitchen · Queen bed · Free parking · Valley views · Fresh fruit on the property (once in season)
Basseterre city centre: 12 minutes. Taxi one way: $16 USD. Car rental recommended for island exploration.
