Spectacular panoramic Phoenix Valley views and desert mountain hiking /bicycling

This property is located on the mountain preserve border of South Mountain Park, the largest city park in the world. There are wonderful mountain bike trails right from the property, as well as some of the finest hiking in the Phoenix area. While being only a few minutes from Downtown Phoenix, it is very private and quiet, nestled in a scenic desert mountain bowl with coyote and javelina occasionally visiting the site.

There are multilevel decks facing both toward South Mountain and Downtown Phoenix, providing some of the best panoramic scenery in the Phoenix area. If you are looking for quiet time to catch up on reading, fantastic hiking right from the property, and scenic desert vistas, this is the vacation house for you. Although the road is rough, it is worth the drive

We have good news for those who have stayed with us in the past! wifi is still satellite only, but the speeds have increased tremendously and we have upgraded to the fastest option available.

Just to be perfectly transparent: In the summer months (June, July and August) the water runs warm as the distance it travels underground up the mountain is great. It takes a bit for it to cool down.

Beautiful Location

This property is the perfect balance of peaceful seclusion & access to activities! Plenty of room, well stocked with everything you’ll need for a great stay! Trail head within walking distance where you can fat tire bike or hike.

Amazing location

Our second stay at this home and can’t wait to get back. Everything you could possibly want in a short term rental is here and the views from all three decks are amazing. Close to trails for hiking. A very peaceful location.

Amazing stay.

I rent this property every year to come out and visit my daughter... I could not ask for a better location a better view or a better renting experience I am already booked for next year this will be my fourth year staying at this property. It is almost like a home away from home for me now.

The host was great with communication and very informative. The house was nice and the views were absolutely beautiful. We loved sitting on one of the many decks this house has to offer and watch for wildlife. Also several trails nearby.You have everything you need. We did buy food and our own condiments and used the grill that was offered. The only thing was some items of condiments etc available are out dated that the have. A suggestion would be to have a note to guest if something is outdated to toss. We had this in place at another home we stayed at years back. Would love to stay again in the future. Thank you for sharing your home.

Family Reunion over Easter weekend.

Great stay. Great location. Outstanding that pantry items, dry goods, long term use items still available in the fridge and cupboards. Most vaction rentals clear it all out when people leave and then you have to go buy these necessary items along with the groceries. Upstairs floor is a little creaky sounding. Great stay overall, very pleased. Thanks!

Great view, rural location.

We'd give this property a better overall rating had it been clean. It's in need of new, clean furniture and a very thorough cleaning. Other than that we loved the location, the access to hiking, the amazing city view and the desert feel. Owner was friendly and responded quickly to two small issues.

Stunning views and wonderful location

We spent a week in this house and it was spectacular. The house sits right at the edge of South Mountain Park, 16,000 acres of space to hike, bike and relax. We were able to hike right from the house. House has multiple decks in all directions to take advantage of the views. Sunsets, sunrises and evening night views were spectacular. House is very comfortable and had everything we needed. Hope to be back next year!! Also, the homeowner was very accommodating and super easy to work with. Thank you for a wonderful week!!!

Anniversary Trip

The house is amazing.The location was perfect,peace and tranquility except for the Coyotes singing. Pamela thought of all our needs,traveling from the UK and staying 10 days prior and 10 after in hotels,we didn’t need to buy many household items as most was already there .Such a thoughtful thing to do.We were in driving distance to almost everywhere.The 3 decks were used at different times of the day as well as the walking trials around the mountain.Would we go again,in a heartbeat.Thank you Pamela for sharing your home with us.

Thank you to our host for providing a lovely vacation home with all the amenities. Spotlessly clean, this is a bright, airy, and comfortable home. Being on the side of a mountain, the views of the city in front and mountain in back are amazing. Very quiet with very few neighbors.

Gem of a Find!

This house and property are great! The view is awesome! It seems out far, but everywhere in Phoenix was about 20 minutes to a 40 minute drive! Only 20 minutes to the airport! There is food and stores just a few miles away. We loved the deck and hammock! The sunrises and sunsets were beautiful with the view! The house had everthing needed, and more! We saw lots of rabbits, quails, and even a coyote! Within a day, it felt like home! We will 1000% be back!

Just what my soul needed!

I have to say this is by far the most accomodating and welcoming home I HAVE EVER RENTED! You can truly see Pamela takes pride in her home,, and has lots of the little things that make for a comfortable stay..... from shampoo ,conditioner, toilet paper, air freshner for the bath rooms, a candle....dish soap etc...I could continue the list. Now to mention the house itself! It seems every piece of furniture was strategicly placed, from the chase lounge in the living room to the hammock on the deck...The views from the decks are beautiful. We watched a coyote pack in the early mornings, and had hummingbirds visit daily. We heard the songs of the wildlife. Completely relaxing. I really needed a quiet away from it all vacation, this is exactly what I got. Plus hiking on the South mountain,and being minutes away from the city. I could not have asked for more. This is like I said "EXACTLY WHAT MY SOUL NEEDED," We are booked already for next year. Thank you Pamela for sharing this piece of paradise.

Excellent Home Away From Home

I love this property and Pamela is an excellent renter. Very quick to answer messages with suggestions or information. We spent many nights on the front porch looking at the beautiful lights of Phoenix and reminiscing of growing up in Phoenix. The house was very comfortable even for a disabled person. The shower could stand to be handicap accessible though. Some hand rails would be nice. All in all we had a wonderful 2 week stay and we would definitely come back again!

Great view

We enjoyed our stay at Laveen village. Beautiful views, walking trail, seen and/or heard wild boars, coyotes, quails. Pamela was an excellent host, always communicated with us and very easy instructions. The house was great with 3 different decks for views of the mountains or city, wild life. It seems like your out in the middle of no where but actually only 5-10min from Walmart or Dunkin. It's the perfect location, best if both worlds. We would definitely stay again when visiting in Phoenix again.

Unique Desert Mountain Experience

This is gem. Private, quiet and immersed in nature. Coyotes respectfully pass within 30 feet of the house. Mornings were greeted under the stars by the hoot of owls. While there, I flushed a large one out of the ravine during a walk. Quail bobble and cackle everywhere. The trails are right out your back door! So, if you love being outdoors this is for you. The night views towards Phoenix are beautiful...and the expansive valley gives one pause to think about the weight of our footprint... Groceries and many services 10 minutes...entertainment, well prepare to travel 30+ minutes, or plan for day trips. The home itself it very spacious and worked well for my husband and I and our dogs for the month of January. It was surface cleaned and we felt comfortable and safe enough, however, a deep cleaning, especially the brown couch set would be very beneficial, and the upper south facing deck is in need of repair. Lounge chairs for winter sun soakers and some fun entertainment dishware would be a great addition! If you're in need of fast internet, this location is not for you. The current Hughs Net package does not provide the streaming or upload speed you will need, but Pam tells you that going in. She's wonderful by the way! We would definitely stay again.

Loved the views, the remoteness and the trails

What a wonderful home! We went to Phoenix for spring training which was cancelled the day we arrived. Pamela's home was the perfect place to stay for two weeks since we were able to take advantage of the nearby hiking trails. The home is very well equipped with everything we needed and it was perfect for our dog. We hope to rent this house next year. Thanks Pamela!

WONDERFUL PROPERTY

This is a fantastic property for a secluded quiet getaway in the heart of Phoenix. Direct access to Arizona outdoors and hiking and plenty of privacy. We enjoyed not having any passing cars or sirens wailing in the distance, very peaceful location. Also enjoyed the wildlife as we observed lots of quail and coyotes from the front porch.

They love the outdoors, and have a special affection for this South Mountain home with its quiet, private atmosphere and desert southwest natural mountain landscape.

Why they chose this property

This home was built by Pamela Watson's parents and served them very well for a number of years when they came to Phoenix for the winter. They fell in love with the property of over 10 acres with views to die for, and spent many days entertaining family and friends at their beloved home.

What makes this property unique

The mountain cabin feel of this home so near the Phoenix metropolitan area with fantastic views of dramatic Arizona sunsets makes this home the ideal place to sit and relax, entertain friends and spend hours exploring the washes and mountain bowls directly adjacent to the property.
