Our cozy, 3 BR/2 bath TuckAway cabin is located near the quaint community of Whittier on the east side of Bryson City. The cabin is perfectly situated on a mountain ridge so you can experience the “Smoky Mountains” as you view the multiple mountain ranges. The uninhibited, panoramic views of the Smoky Mountains from the deck and balconies provide a quiet and relaxing setting. The Tuckaseegee River runs in the valley below the cabin so you can enjoy the sound of the rushing water as you relax on the decks.
Along with the fantastic mountain views at TuckAway, you also have privacy, easy access to quaint restaurants, shops, groceries, and all the outside amenities enjoyed in the mountains. With a paved drive and well-maintained road, our cabin is easily accessible in a 2-wheel drive vehicle with ample parking.
Whether you enjoy watching the mountains by day or the stars by night, you will be amazed by the view from the deck on the east and south sides at TuckAway. The outside rockers and swing are perfect spots to enjoy the panoramic mountain view and beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Other outside amenities include a gas grill and picnic table for a cookout and a fire pit to enjoy roasted marshmallows, your favorite mountain stories, and s’mores for dessert. For those quiet nights after a day of rafting, tubing, hiking, skiing, or sight-seeing, enjoy reading one of our books or magazines or playing a family board game.
Our TuckAway cabin is fully-furnished with modern appliances, furnishings, satellite TV, Internet, and strong cell phone signals. Relax comfortably any time of the year in our central heat and air conditioned cabin with a wood burning fireplace, LCD satellite TV, DVD player, Gameboy, and comfortable sectional couch in the living area. Free password protected WiFi keeps you connected to the outside world even though you will be so mesmerized by the view and the things to enjoy in the area, you may not need it.
The master bedroom (queen bed, hung TV, dresser, night stand, and full closet) is on the first floor with a full-size, furnished bathroom. The second floor includes two more bedrooms and an additional full-size bathroom. The first of the two upstairs bedrooms has a queen bed, dresser, night stands, full closet, and private balcony with possibly the best view (see our pictures). The second bedroom has full and twin beds, dressers, full closet, and a private balcony overlooking the fire pit, quiet woods, and distant mountains.
The kitchen is fully furnished with modern appliances, quality cookware, and place setting for 8. A separate dining area has wood furniture and convenient access to the kitchen and living area. The outdoor gas grill is the perfect cooking choice and eating outside on our picnic table located on the deck is an awesome experience. A sink and full-size washer and dryer are located in the utility room for your convenience. The utility room is also the perfect “mud room” for wet clothes after getting soaked in the local white water.

We stayed for Christmas and everything was perfect. The Polar Express leaves from Bryson City and travels right below the cabin down in town and you can see it enter the North Pole. Truly magical! Would definitely stay again! The view is unparalleled. Perfect location to adventure from as well as there is a ton to do in the surrounding area. What a gem!!
Everything was nice about this cabin except for the bed. The bed my husband and I slept on downstairs had the be the hardest bed I have ever laid down on. Please update the mattress or at least let people know that it is a firm mattress. Other than that.. beautiful cabin, had what we needed, close enough to towns that we could get what we needed.
Host was easy to communicate with and responsive to questions. Skiing is only rated a 4 because although we saw several options in the area it was out of season so we did not visit there. Great location outside of town to visit the Blue Ridge Parkway, Great Smoky National Park, Cherokee, Bryson City and several national forests. The house was clean, private and peaceful with wonderful Mountain View’s, sunset, and starry skies. Driveway is intimidating but very doable if you take your time but would caution drivers not use to rural driving. We were fine with Ford Escape. We would definitely enjoy staying here again if we were to visit this area again.
Fantastic cabin. Perfect place for our family to have space to spread out. Driveway is not for the faint of heart… definitely want to do it in the daylight the first time, after that it is no big deal. Great location close to so many great activities. Mark has everything you could need in the kitchen and air conditioning was nice and cold on these hot humid days. Thanks!!
We absolutely loved our stay at the cabin! The location, the property itself, communication with the property owner, literally everything was great for our little pre-Christmas getaway. Would definitely stay here again!
Wonderful cabin- very clean, well stocked kitchen, comfy beds, amazing views from the decks, and a firepit to enjoy too. Close access to the entrance to Smoky Mountains National Park. A place to soak in the peace and beauty of nature. Highly recommend staying here for your visit.
I went with my family to spend New Year's Eve and leave behind city life and noise, and it was the best experience ever. It is beautiful, unique, and a comeback trip shortly.
This place was great for visiting the Great Smoky Mountains and the surrounding areas while staying away fro, the more popular and busy Tennessee side of the park. So if you want to visit the area and not be stuck in the touristy side, this is a great location that is quiet and has a great view.
We were looking for a cozy getaway to reconnect as a family, and this cabin was absolutely perfect for the 4 of us. The property was beautiful, and the cabin was clean with a well stocked kitchen. There were lots of things to do just a few minutes drive away. We had a great time and hope to be repeat customers!
Amazing time even in the rain. House is very spacious. Kitchen is tiny, but we weren't there to be chefs. The driveway is rigorous and would possibly need 4x4 in the winter. Amazing views.
Cabin has some wear but I think the owner is starting some remodeling. The views are awesome! The drive is tricky in some spots for a larger vehicle. Did not have to worry about meeting other vehicles which was a plus. Close drive to Bryson City. With some improvements this could be a very nice rental.
House was as advertised, nice master downstairs, 2 smaller but adequate bedrooms up. View from deck is fantastic. Kitchen is well equipped. Road up is adventurous first couple times, but fine once you get used to it. Nice area behind house for a fire. Mark is great communicator and easy to work with. We will rent again.

While our local commercial providers of services such as internet connectivity make every attempt to provide reliable services, occasionally widespread outages impacting numerous customers occur in the mountains that require extended time to repair. While there is nothing either owners or guests can do about these rare situations (in this case a six-day outage affecting every home on the mountain), I certainly regret any inconvenience they cause and always work with guests to provide assistance and minimize any effects. Fortunately, the major cellular networks offer good service at the cabin and in the general area so communications remain possible in these very unlikely cases, and the numerous outdoor activities along with the local towns of Bryson City and Cherokee always present guests with many opportunities for a great overall experience.
Thank you Mark for letting us stay in your mountain home. The size was great for the 6 of us, with parents downstairs and teenager kids upstairs. We really enjoyed the views from the deck, the fire pit in the evening and the location which is great. We went several times to Bryson City which has a ton of things to do, and several days to GSMNP.
The driveway was mentioned in several postings. At this time of year, even though it requires caution, it is very manageable, especially due to the fact it is well surfaced. We made it up into a -very- loaded minivan with 6 people inside, no problems...
No wood for wood fireplace no chairs dining table chairs bring your own firewood and take your garbage home with you wood on site but not for you only emergencies not very hospitable

I always provide every guest with detailed information well in advance, normally at least 2 weeks before check-in. It is important that guests know what to expect, especially in terms of things that are provided (certainly including dining chairs, although this type of thing is so obvious that it is not mentioned), things that they should bring with them, and things they might need or want to do or acquire locally, to help insure they have an enjoyable stay. Firewood, garbage take-away, and many other helpful things are addressed in this pre-arrival information and I am always willing interact with guests at any time, before or after arrival, regarding alterative options and possibilities that might be appropriate for specific situations or as individual needs arise. While it is certainly possible to make “last minute” reservations, I don’t recommend it because there’s no time to review this kind of important information and plan accordingly. While I can’t always quickly solve every issue or concern that may develop (many things happen slowly in Appalachia!), I certainly approach every situation with the intent of working respectfully and cooperatively to develop a solution. I look forward to continuing these long-effective practices so that future guests can continue to use my place as a base for enjoying all that the woods and waters of the North Carolina mountains have to offer!

We have been enjoying the Bryson City/Nantahala area for the past 10 years to relax and enjoy a variety of the activities. We still go to the mountains frequently and enjoy sharing our cabin with families who enjoy the Smoky Mountain area as much as we do. A good relationship with our guests is important to us.
Why they chose this property
The main reasons we love this cabin is the fantastic views, easy access to the cabin as well as Bryson City and Cherokee, and privacy with modern conveniences (satellite TV, Wifi, and cell phone service.
What makes this property unique
The cabin is conveniently located to many major attractions in the area when we want to be adventerous but at the same time, provides a quiet, private setting with a magnificent view when we want to stay in and relax.
